At least seven people were wounded by gunfire early Sunday in Chicago after someone opened fire near a playground on the city's west side.

The shooting happened around 1:20 a.m. in Douglas Park, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Authorities said someone shot their weapon from inside a black Chevrolet Camaro on the street.

Those injured ranged in age from 19 to 25.

Three women, ages 19, 22 and 25, were transported to the hospital, where their conditions were stabilized, the news outlet reported. One man, 20, was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition, while another man, 21, was taken to the hospital but was in critical condition.

Two other men — 21 and 23 — took themselves to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately clear.

Separately Sunday, one person was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting in Lawndale, police said. Further information on that incident was not immediately clear.

Both are issues. Both need to be solved. Point being it is clearly being brought up in this case to deflect. 

Both with different root causes too.

I doubt the media will care about people being shot in Chicago, Blacks shooting other Blacks does not fit on their agenda, They ONLY cover White men who use AK47's and even when they don't use a AK, the media still claims they did use 1 or had 1 in his car.

listen bot.....inner city violence is something thsts constantly being addressed.Its just not going to make the news all the time because it is a fairly reg thing. But when talk about improving public schools, giving them better food..etc,etc...these are all things that conservatives assholes yeast out, but they are all measures meant to holistically improve inner city life therefore curbing gun violence.

but oh yeah closing the gun show loophole which they've pin pointed as a major avenue of how guns get in to the cities......tgat gets fought by conservatives "errytime"

just because u dont hear the liberal outrage machines adress this constantly doesnt mean liberals in general arent caring about this. Cities like SF didnt ban handguns cause there were too many white rednecks shooting each otber in the streets. ur not really educated enough on the matter to have a real conversation about this. Because liberals have tried all kinds of stuff that frankly more often than not gets shut down by conservatives....ie public school funding, closing gun show loopholes which is how most of these firearms get into the cities in the first place, etc, etc, etc. And some things they do get to try but it doesn't work, in some cities it does....in others it doesn't. 

Remember when DC was like the murder capital of the world? It's not even top 25 anymore.
