Mr. T
How's the stimulus working for you so far?: "Well now. Our economy is really lunging forward, isn’t it? What a ride! Are you holding on? We’re billions of dollars further in debt (trillions?) and the economy is still stagnant. TARP, the stimulus bill, massive debts our children and grandchildren will have to pay .. and what has this all brought us? Banks aren’t lending, businesses aren’t hiring – let along expanding – and consumers aren’t buying. Oh, to be sure, the malls are crowded. Turn up the thermostats and see how long that lasts. Those aren’t shoppers, they’re just your neighbors trying to stay cool while watching the latest absurd teen fashion and freak shows". calfoxwc
Apparently, not much of the money has been spent, even up to now. So, why the drastic, immediate crisis to hurry and pass the bill? NOW they're talking about a SECOND STIMULUS? Something bad is going on - like a deliberate bankrupting of our country. We're headed for big trouble in our U.S.A. Kosar_For_President
I agree with you guys. We tried it and it didn't work, SO FAR. Don't do it again. I am all for trying "change", but this obviously not the right decision, for a second stimulus. I know we haven't seen results yet, but don't jump the gun and put a second stimulus out there. Let's give it some time to see if this had any effect at all, it is too early to tell. Also, I found this funny when I scanned this article. Labeled as a conservative t-shirt. How is waterboarding "conservative" by the way? Just for the sake of definition? 35% off. Sweet. I am also going to buy the tee shirt "I wish I was there... at the Spanish Inquisition". p.s. for all the "conservatives" here Bush's "stimulus" did not work either. Pumpkin Eater
If you're talking about giving money to the banks, this would be round three. Round one was under Bush.
Westside Steve
I think we mistakenly think the stimulous bill was for stimulation. It doesn't seem like much of it's going for that purpose. It seems as though the situation is worsening and we're hearing that we'll never get back to Bush era liquidity. And the auto bailout that was crucial lest GM go bankrupt? At what point do we admit the administrations economic team has been mistaken and when do we ask for "change"? WSS
Kosar_For_President
At what point do we admit the administrations economic team has been mistaken and when do we ask for "change"? WSS That's a good point Steve. I think we need to wait to see if things get better. When to determine that is key. But to inject the economy with another "stimulus" is absurd. If the firs tone didn't work the second one won't. I say we need to wait.
choco
It seems as though the situation is worsening and we're hearing that we'll never get back to Bush era liquidity.[/b] that will never, and should never, happen again. most of that wasn't liquidity.....it was made up paper money. the market has stabilized a bit, insofar as the DOW remaining relatively constant. but any expansion will take a long time......layoffs are still occurring, daschle is still cheating on his taxes, and republican congressional leaders are still banging hookers. How well are the rest doing? Maybe we should change all the laws and regulations that handcuff Americans in being able to compete in a Global Economy, otherwise at the rate we are going we will be loosing half of the largest companies to foreign countries where they will not be strapped or hand cuffed in performing. osusev
I am COMPLETELY against another stimulas package right now.... Tarp funds have not been totally distributed and the stimulas package funds are at something like 15% actually funded........ I think its the dems trying to use the same scare tactics that the republicans used about "terrorism" except now its about "recession" problems to drum up money for some of their pet projects...
