A man who recently served time for attempted murder allegedly killed eight children and injured two others who were attending their first day of school in China, police said.

The 40-year-old man, only identified by the surname Yu, was taken into custody late Monday after he allegedly attacked the kids at an elementary school in Chaoyangpo village of Enshi city in Hubei province.

It was not immediately clear how the children were attacked.

The man was released from Hubei prison last June after serving a sentence for attempted murder, according to local media. A possible motive was not immediately clear either.

The attack is the latest in a string of similar incidents in China.p_034.gif.72c4a4f19b45b515d64a698f3f15df06.gif

In January, 20 children were injured after a man attacked them inside an elementary school in Beijing — and in June 2018, two children were stabbed to death by a man outside an elementary school in Shanghai.

In April of last year, nine were killed and more than a dozen injured outside a middle school in northwestern Shaanxi province by an attacker who allegedly was a former pupil seeking revenge for having been bullied.

AK-47 or rifle of sorts.  anything else does not qualify.

Define" OF Sorts"  please let's get this to exactly what you mean by " assault weapon "  is it the looks of the AK47 the ammo of the AK47 are you talking full automatic /semi-automatic?

Are you talking one with full semi-automatic switch?

What may be sort of to you may not be sort of to others.  Which in lies the problems gun people have with gun grabbers they won't define exactly what they want to ban it's a generic definition that later can be applied to other weapons. So let's get down to brass tacks on this issue.

Sestak told Turning Point USA that an "assault weapon" is a "semi-automatic" firearm, adding that he thinks the Bill Clinton-era assault weapons ban did not go "far enough."

Front-runner Joe Biden, who has faced questions in recent months about his fitness, responded to the question by saying: "If you don't know when you see it, you don't understand."

Biden's remarks come after he said this week that "details are irrelevant in terms of decision-making." Biden also called for banning all magazines that hold "multiple bullets" — an extreme proposal that would ban nearly all firearms.

Other presidential candidates, like Marianne Williamson, showed their lack of knowledge on the issue, saying that "all of it, everything that is military," is an assault weapon. The definition from Williamson, who has called for banning assault weapons and certain types of bullets, would result in the banning of nearly all handguns as civilians are able to buy many of the handguns that are used by the U.S.

Here is how the other candidates answered:

  • Julian Castro: "The AR-15 definitely qualifies"; refused to answer further.
  •
  • Amy Klobuchar: "I think you know what it is. It’s the weapon that killed nine people in Dayton in 30 seconds."
  •
  • Bernie Sanders’ campaign: [Refused to answer (based off what was available on video)].
  •
  • Cory Booker: "It is defined in our legislation."
  •
  • Jay Inslee (no longer running): "As defined in the [Clinton-era] 1994 bill."
  •
  • Tim Ryan: "A lot of different kinds."
  •
  • Andrew Yang: "There is the military-style."
  •
  • Bill de Blasio: "I can get you a legal definition."
