darubes
Odell Beckham Jr. says hip prevents him from sprinting fullspeed, but confident the adrenalin will take over vs. Titans Updated 3:30 PM; Today 2:53 PM cleveland.com Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. gestures during practice. (Joshua Gunter, cleveland.com) 0 shares By Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com BEREA, Ohio -- It’s only fitting that Odell Beckham Jr.'s custom orange Rolls Royce, ‘Big Bertha,’ was delivered to him at the Browns facility Thursday. Because when describing the hip injury that continues to plague him, he used a car analogy. "It’s like an extremely fast car with the alignment off,'' he said. "The car can still go, but it’s dangerous.'' Beckham, who missed most of training camp and all four preseason games largely because of the hip, noted that it’s still bothering him, but that he’s hoping the adrenalin takes over on Sunday. "It’s something that prevents me from opening up and sprinting,'' he said in his podium press conference. He said he’s never dealt with something like this before and that he’s getting rehab on the hip every day. But asked if 90% of him is better than 100% of someone else, he smiled and said "I’m confident in me.'' He said he plans to ‘give it my best in each and every way’ during the game Sunday and FirstEnergy Stadium “and nothing will get in the way of that.” During joint practices with the Colts in Indiana in mid-August -- in which Beckham was idle with the hip -- he said he’d be ready for the Titans Sept. 8. That’s still the case, but he might not be operating on all cylinders. Sitting out team drills from about Aug. 7 to the end of training camp, Beckham doesn’t recall a specific moment when he hurt the hip. "I don’t know how it happened,'' he said. "I came in one day after practice and it was feeling weird.'' Despite the setback, Beckham’s best friend Jarvis Landry -- who’s dealing with a minor injury of his own -- still sees a three-time Pro Bowler on every rep. "He’s still probably the fastest in the room right now,'' Landry said. "He’s a competitor and he’ll be ready for Sunday.'' Beckham has practiced full-go all week and has not been listed on the injury report. Over the first five years of his career, he’s missed 21 regular season games, including the final four of last season with a torn quad muscle and 12 in 2017 with a broken ankle that required surgery. jiggins7919
What I don't like hearing is that he can't recall when or why it happened, and I also don't like that he's had multiple weeks to heal and he's not 100%. Nobody EVER gets to 100% DURING the season, so I'd bet money that OBJ is likely to miss games this year. I hope I'm wrong, but this certainly doesn't sound great. He can't "open up" and sprint?! Wtf? Isn't that rather important for a WR?

Mudfly
A little pre-game posturing perhaps?......Telling the Titans I cant run full speed, then ripping the top off their defense? He does practice everyday -full speed - so Im not really sweating this one..... 1

Hopefully its 100% this, that hip thing could linger or god forbid get much worse if resting the entire preseason didnt fix it.
gumby73
So I've never played a doctor..but I've landed oddly playing this game a while too.. What we do know is OBJ looked fine mini Camp day 1..than he missed the rest of them to go train... Here's the 1st day of TC.Than OBJ missed time again..a.) Watch this video at :34 seconds & OBJ appears to pop-up fine... b.)than at :48 seconds👀.. am seeing it may have happened landing awkwardly just before rolling at Dorsey's feet? I'd almost guess it's his left hip? seeing the way he hopped off it...c.)Next, Watch as he lines up outside wide over Nathan's right shoulder in background at 1:55.. same hop off same leg? at this point,am just guessing from what i can see thru media..If am wrong? so be it.. Could be as little as a slow healing bruise to a stinging strawberry...Believe this.. they know when it happened & they know what he's dealing with.. come game day warm-ups..OBJ will be jacked up with hip & hops in his ears..clear the runway 🛫

I hope like hell this is a smokescreen.

PoeticG
OBJ is in his 6th season, so if we want him for another 5+ years we'll have to slow down the rundown on the tread somehow... Guys with "injuries" often get more time to rest without the rest of the team rebelling. I'm hoping it a little give and take with the coaching staff and front office that gets us a team friendly contract come renewal time. If you don't feel 100%, and especially if you're someone like OBJ, there's NO WAY you're a "full participant" in practice. Do I think OBJ is going to miss a handful of games this year? Yeah, I do. But I agree Mud, I think this might be a bit of posturing.
jcam222
I believe he’s a savvy enough vet that if his hip were hurting he wouldn’t make it public.

It's funny, I just got all pumped up thinking about watching him play. I guess I kind of forgot just how talented OBJ is, so I watched some YouTube videos and got all fired up. Eli Manning was a great QB in his time, but let's face it, he's been going downhill. OBJ will be playing with a young QB just coming into own, and lord help the teams that don't have a good secondary.

You can bet the ranch assuming the hip was bothering OBJ, the medical staff ran every test known to man- MRI, Cat Scan, X-rays to determine exactly what the problem is. There's no way they'd trot him out for a game if it was determined he risked further damage to the hip by playing Sunday.

medicineman
Come on, he ALWAYS says shit like this and then if he has a good game he makes sure everybody knows he was playing hurt but wanted to help the team and all this other horse shit. This is exactly why I was not super happy we got him, He is a well a BITCH. He always knows where the camera is at, and after every play he makes he will get up slow or act like he is in more pain than he really is, he been doing the same shit for years, and if you ever saw him in a game with the Giants he did it there to, He loves the spot light and attention.
