It has been reported Green was publicly bad mouthing Trump at a staff meeting as well as leading the vendetta against Navy seal Gallagher. If in fact somebody believes with the seal did was serious enough to be punished for then his commanding officer would naturally be pissed off if the president countermanded the punishment. Sort of undermines his authority with the troops. And Some may believe that the seal was being punished too harshly for politically correct reasons. So there's that.
