The Gipper
1) Barry Switzer & Jimmy Johnson 4) No more "tear away" jerseys allowed to be worn 5) No kicking aids (tees) allowed anymore 6) FGs can be reviewed now by replay don't know the others You are correct on all your answers...with the qualification that the Dawson rule only allows review of SOME kicks...only those where the ball has contact with some part of the goal post...like the Dawson kick against Baltimore that this rule came about. I believe a kick cannot be reviewed if it does not strike a goal post Best example would be the kick that won "The Drive" game by Karlis of the Broncos. Anyone seeing that kick on video replay would tell you that that kick was no good as it appears to sail completely outside the goal post. But because the kick was so high and was above the posts, the referees judgment that it was good would be unchallengeable under this rule. It is kind of like balls and strikes in baseball, unreviewable. A strike is a strike because an umpire says it is a strike....whether it was actually inside the strike zone or not. Karlis's kick was good because the refs said it was good...not because it was actually, physically inside the invisible plane of the goal posts. The Gipper
Here! Try this trivia. Answers 1. Name the only Head Coaches who have won both a Super Bowl and a Division I college football championship. Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer 2. Name the only Head Coaches who have made 4 or more appearances in the Super Bowl but who are not yet inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Bill Belichick,(4 times with Pats) who is not retired, thus ineligible, and Dan Reeves (3 with Denver, 1 with Atlanta)...whose retirement status is in limbo. He may want to come back and coach. 3. What team owner, on the eve of his team playing in the NFL title game called the opposing team "crybabies and quitters when things got tough" And what was the result of the game? The owner was George Preston Marshall of the Washington Redskins. The year was 1940. The opponent was the Chicago Bears. The Final Score of that title game?: Bears 73 Redskins 0. This is a time perhaps when the players tell their owner to just STFU. 4. What is the "Greg Pruitt rule"? No tearaway jerseys allowed 5. What is the "Lou Groza rule"? No "aids" allowed on FGs and Extra points, such as tees. 6. What is the "Phil Dawson rule"? Replay review allowed on some FGs that touch part of the crossbar 7. On the Browns current roster there is one single player on there who matriculated at each of the following big name college football programs.
