THE BROWNS BOARD

mini poll

Recommended Posts

So for all of our friends here on the board what is your anxiety level? Rate it from one up to ten, ten being hair on fire one being who cares.

The categories:

1 concern over my  personal safety

2 the safety of my family and friends.

3 level of precaution you are taking. For example staying in the house unless it is absolutely necessary all the way up to doing whatever you feel like that isn't the restricted by the government.

4 actual level of anxiety over the entire thing.

For myself level of concern for my personal safety is Maybe 2. Concern for friends and family again 2. I have more concern over my friends who are losing money they can't afford to lose. My level of precaution possibly 3 or 4? I do wash my hands more often and especially after touching something that the public touches and I don't shake hands as much. Probably not at all.. I feel a little silly about it but I do it anyway. My level of anxiety is only one or two as far as worrying about the virus probably 7 or 8 being upset about government restrictions and stock market panic.

Personal safety I would rate low.

Much higher concern for my wife's parents who are in their 80's and live in the same county as Jbluhm.

Actual level of anxiety is a little high in that we have never in our lifetimes seen this country take such extreme measures over a flu virus.

I also wash my hands more and carry hand sanitizer in my pocket as well as try to not touch my face. I have concerns about hospitals being overwhelmed but also concerns about the economic impact this is taking on our country. Just a few weeks ago we had a booming economy and everything we have done to destroy it has been self inflicted. I hope the govt has this right and it was necessary. We are getting ready to borrow more money for a one trillion dollar stimulus and we are already 23 trillion in debt. Our national debt and inability to bring it down even when we are taking in record revenue concerns me a lot. It doesn't seem like we will do anything about it until it becomes a crisis and then drastic measures are going to be taken. We should be taking less drastic measures right now. Also on the stimulus I want to see small business being helped but should we be bailing out the airlines?

and that last one would be higher if I thought I was in a more highly impacted group financially. I expect there to be a downturn in the economy, but out of all of the roles and industries that will be affected I think engineering and manufacturing should hold up alright.

4 actual level of anxiety over the entire thing. 2

Generally, folks around here are fine going to the grocery for necessary things, but when I went, only a few cars here and there were on the road. Friends call and check on us, we do the same. Big concern is the elderly - niece's mother-in-law has health problems and is in her later seventies, and our farmer neighbors - they are in their early eighties ....our friends' Mom - she's in her late eighties....

Most folks use hand sanitizer before and after they leave their car, use a cart at the grocery - the stores have wipes to clean off the handles....

neighbor's kids who adopted us as honorary grandparents, lol, are thriving having school at home. Most folks are just being careful til it blows over - which everybody knows will be weeks at least. I'm just sippin hot apple cider with cinnamon added to it. Clerk at the grocery said most all folks have a great sense of humor about it, while being careful, too.

The other concern is finances. Some folks are off work. Will they get paid? fall behind on their bills?

We're very glad out economy was booming before this drastic emergency hit - it will bounce back strongly.

Back in the depression days, my parents grew up on farms - they always had all the food they needed, communities came together. Truth is, they were unaffected by the depression - except for travelers who stopped in for a little help - they just heard about the depression. I'm planning on a huge garden, to give produce to all our friends if they need it to help them with smaller food bills at least.

1 concern over my  personal safety

2 the safety of my family and friends.  6 everyone is taking things serious and being careful.

3 level of precaution you are taking. For example staying in the house unless it is absolutely necessary all the way up to doing whatever you feel like that isn't the restricted by the government.  5 I'm lucky enough to not have to go out a lot but use caution when I need to, trying to stay in the middle grounds not to panic but not turning my head as if nothing is wrong.

4 actual level of anxiety over the entire thing.  3 I tend to be on the cautiously optimistic side of things but try to keep informed and updated.

1. 1: I'm 27 with no earlier conditions. I used to have Asthma when I was a kid but that's long gone. I think that at most I would be really sick for 5 days.

2. 6. I live with my parents (69 and 74) and my brother (21), who has diabethes. So I don't enjoy living among people with risk, but they're staying home all the time and only going out to the supermarket nearby, due to the quarantine (though we started doing it on our own last week).

I think that I feel easy now because we've been almost a week with no big exposure and no one has developed any symptom. Thus the rest of my brothers and sisters have no risk and I can check on the ones who have because they are at home.

3. 10. I have worked from home since last Wednesday. Went to donate blood that day and every day since I have exited home just once everyday and it was for errands. Hygiene and being careful with what I touch outside.

4. 3. I think that Spanish Health Care system will do fine on most regions but in Madrid, and I think we are preventing it a tad better than Italy. I've been following stats and I think we are not completely following their trend: we have a lower critical cases proportion (even France beats us) and a lower death rate.

I think economy will struggle the most, and some people will die, but the country won't collapse and we'll get over all of this.

2. 1

3. 1

4. 7 People who have lost what they had,  those in or nearing retirement watching their investments being pulverized. We know it will recover, but when will the recovery begin and how long will it take is what causes the most anxiety in me.

3.  I'd say 1 only because I normally wash my hands frequently and try not to pick my nose and lick my fingers.

4.  I'd say 5 for various reasons.  While traffic has never been better, a lot of places I go to relax are closed down.  It's a bummer because i hate to cook, but have to do it anyways.  Well, really it's prep and clean up I hate,  but it's all included.

I haven't missed a day of work over this and probably won't by the time it's all over.  Unfortunately, I have discovered just how scared everyone else is that I work with.  I don't mind the people working remotely that can get their work done that way, but rock core doesn't drill itself or load itself in the machines. Saudi has sent us an ungodly amount work and we're getting way behind schedule.  I don't care what the WHO says, or President Trump for that matter, in the long run my Nigerian overlord is going to can some of them over this.  Book it.

I think most of us will be ok as long as we follow the guidelines by the CDC.

My concern is eventually we're all going to get stir-crazy, and ignore these guidelines if it drags on too long. People are inherently selfish.

In what way Bob? You still going to work? To the store? I'm not exactly sure what the guidelines are besides keeping your hands clean.

Guidelines, like washing hands, social distancing that have been mentioned.

Covering up when coughing & sneezing would make sense, most folks do that anyway.

I'm actually going to walk to the store here in a few minutes, haven't really gone anywhere the last few days. No bars or bowling alleys are open, those are the places I go most often in the winter time.

1 concern over my  personal safety-1 I've had a good long life which was 50 years longer than I expected one night in my first month in Vietnam.

2 the safety of my family and friends.-8 DIL and a Grandson with us are asthmatic

3 level of precaution you are taking. 8-Stay at home but take occasional quick run to grocer to augment stockpile. Have a cleaning station just inside the door from the garage in the laundry room. Everyone who goes into the community must at least wash hands thoroughly with Dial Anti-everything soap.

4 actual level of anxiety over the entire thing. For myself - none, but for my Grandson especially - 9  But when it hits Sun City the funeral processions will be non-stop. Not only are there at least 7,000 old people there, but the nursing homes, rehab centers, independent living condos and dementia centers are all up and down the main drag for several miles.

Now if I can just find a Penthouse model to "man" the cleaning station.😘
