The Gipper
I won't swing a trivia quiz on you. I will just give you these factoids about Browns late round draft picks: 1. The latest the Browns have ever drafted a QB in history is at pick #330........and that pick also happens to be the QB that has thrown more passes for more yards and more TDs and more completions (and more ints.)....than any other QB the Browns have ever drafted. He goes by the name Brian Sipe. 2. Except for Jim Brown, the RB drafted by the Browns with the most yards gained in his career was taken at pick #280. Ernest Byner. His 8261 yards rushing is more than any other RB taken by the Browns except JB. Caveat though is that though he played 7 years for the Browns, and 5 years for the Redskins, plus a year for the Ravens...he actually gained a couple of hundred more yards with the Redskins, because with them he was the featured back, where here mostly it was Mack who carried much of the load. 3. Other very good late round draft picks by the Browns included: #439 Ben Davis DB #333 Billy Andrews LB #316 Paul Farren OT #290 Dick "Bam Bam" Ambrose LB #276 Frank Winter OC (though spent most of his career with Packers) 4. In 1993 the NFL went to a 7 round only draft. Since 1993 the best player that the Browns have taken in either the 6th or 7th round has been: Ahtyba Rubin DT #190 5. Also, the Browns drafted some HOFers late...but they did not do their thing for the Browns: #240 Chuck Noll HOF HC #181 Willie Davis HOF career for Packers.
