The Gipper
Here are just some factoids that may or may not interest you, or may or may not surprise you: 1.Since 1994, the Browns last year of winning a postseason game......the Browns are 32d overall in 4th quarter rushing yards. The Pittsburgh Steelers are 1st. (though...the Browns were off for 3 years, so that may contribute to the position....though, Houston which came in later and has played in 63 fewer games than the Browns since 1994, still has more 4th quarter rushing yards. Though, having those fewer games has NOT prevented the Browns from giving up the third most yards rushing in the 4th qtr. on defense in that time..... Only Atlanta and Oakland have given up more. 2. Since 1994 Adrian Peterson has rushed for the most yards. 3. Both Tom Brady and Drew Brees have thrown more than twice the number of TD passes than Joe Montana did in his career. Montana had 273. Brady has 553, Brees 555. Peyton Manning was just 7 shy of doubling Montana's TD totals. He had 539. Double Joe's would be 546. 4. Aaron Rodgers has now won the same number of games as Montana, both with 117. Montana lost 47, Rodgers 60, so Joe has a bit of a better win pct. 5. Aaron Rodgers has almost 3200 rushing yards in his career to date. There have been some decent RBs who had gotten only that amount. 6. Brett Favre was sacked 525 times in his career for most all time. Brady may likely take over the lead there as he sits at 508 sacks. 7. The Cleveland Browns have not won 2 consecutive Postseason games since 1955. They are tied, however, for the third longest postseason win streak with 7 straight in the 40s (with several other teams) . Only the 2002-2006 Patriots (10 wins) and the 1961-1968 Packers (9 wins) had more consecutive postseason wins. 8. Antonio Brown and Brandon Marshall are the only players who have had 6 seasons of 100 or more catches. If Larry Fitzgerald could get 100 this year, he could tie them. FYI, the Browns have never had a 100 catch season by a player. 9. The 2007 New England Patriots had the biggest scoring margin ...at Halftime....in NFL history. They outscored their opponents by 196 points by the half that year. If I were to tell you that #2 all time in that category was the San Francisco 49ers....you would say, sure, Montana/Rice etc....AHH, but NO. It was the 1948 SF 49ers who were #2 all time, led by Y.A. Tittle. With a +173. But that happened to be the year the Browns went 14-0 and won the title. The 1947 Browns were 6th in that category with a +163 halftime point advantage. 10. Eli Manning had more 4th quarter go ahead or tying TD passes in his career than did his brother Peyton. Eli had 44. Peyton had 37. They are #s 2-3 all time in that category. Drew Brees is #1. mjp28
It does show how much the new(er) passing game has taken over. Joe cool was it back then.
