CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns have an opponent even more formidable than the Steelers week: The COVID-19 reserve list.

They added three more players to the list on Tuesday for a total of nine: tight end Harrison Bryant, free safety Andrew Sendejo and strong safety Karl Joseph.

But all could be back for the “win-and-in” Steelers game on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium except linebacker B.J. Goodson and Sendejo...

Early on, Stef told the team that the team that keeps the COVID situation under control could have an advantage.  And he was, of course right.  Apparently though, he should have told the team that, "If you all go off and get COVID, then we're fucked!"

From the link...

Says to me that these two have tested positive while the rest were simply "close contacts".

Yes all the rest will likely be in Sunday including Wills and teller

Thanks.

But there's nothing in the laws of physics that says we can't learn of more Browns being added to the list.  We've all gotta keep our fingers crossed.

Browns’ Jedrick Wills Jr. returns to practice as a full participant from his illnes

https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2020/12/browns-jedrick-wills-jr-returns-to-practice-as-a-full-participant-from-his-illness.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns’ offensive line is back intact.

Jedrick Wills Jr. returned to practice Wednesday as a full participant from the illness that kept him out of Sunday’s 23-16 loss to the Jets. It means Wills be back in his starting spot Sunday against the Steelers in the Browns win-and-in game at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Wills was replaced Sunday by Kendall Lamm, who sat out Wednesday with an illness. Right guard Wyatt Teller also practiced Wednesday on a limited basis and the Browns are hoping to have him back for the game.

Wills was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list as a close contact last week and activated on Saturday. But he was feeling ill and flew separately to New Jersey. By Sunday morning, he was ruled out with his illness.

Eight Browns were limited during the short practice on Wednesday, but the return of Wills was a big boost as the Browns head into a matchup against what JC Tretter described as the best front seven in football.

It’s being reported that the Browns are temporarily shutting down the practice facility.

This is being done after a PS squad player & assistant coach tested positive for the coronavirus today.

So where do we stand if they cancel the last damn game?

Browns' Donovan Peoples-Jones: Slated to come off COVID list

list

Peoples-Jones is in line to come off the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The same applies to Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and KhaDarel Hodge, with all four wideouts on track to be available to take the field Thursday, should the Browns hold an actual practice.

NFL-Browns close facility again after positive COVID-19 tests

https://news.yahoo.com/nfl-browns-close-facility-again-160845826.html

"The Cleveland Browns were informed of two additional positive COVID-19 test results among our players this morning," the team said in a statement.

"The Browns facility is currently closed while contact tracing is conducted to identify any high-risk close contacts."

Harrison Bryant, Malcolm Smith latest Browns to test positive

https://sports.yahoo.com/report-harrison-bryant-malcolm-smith-160755389.html

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that tight end Harrison Bryant and linebacker Malcolm Smith tested positive. Only Smith will have to be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list because Bryant was already on it.

Bryant went on the list Tuesday along with safeties Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo. He was a high-risk close contact at that point and was not in the facility for Wednesday afternoon’s practice.

A positive test means Bryant and Smith will not play against the Steelers. Sendejo and linebacker B.J. Goodson are also going to miss the game, but Joseph could return if he continues testing negative. That is also the case for wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and KhaDarel Hodge. They are due back Thursday after they missed last Sunday’s loss to the Jets as close contacts.

Yes 9AM today- two more players test positive- (or is that old news?) they didn't say who yet.  :(

https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2020/12/browns-have-two-more-positive-covid-19-tests-but-hope-to-get-5-back-from-the-reserve-list-today.html

"CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns’ COVID-19 woes continue as they prepare to face the Steelers on Sunday, but when the revolving door stopped on Thursday, they got more players back than they lost.

Two more players tested positive on Thursday in linebacker Malcolm Smith and tight end Harrison Bryant, meaning both will have to sit out the game.

Bryant had already been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list as a close contact of someone outside the building who tested positive.

They join linebacker B.J. Goodson and safety Andrew Sendejo, who also tested positive and will sit out the game.

That made for a total of 10 players from the regular roster the reserve list -- four positives and six close contacts -- but five of the close contacts, including starting receivers Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins were activated of the reserve list today and will be on the field for practice. The others were receivers Donovan Peoples-Jones and KhaDarel Hodge, and linebacker Jacob Phillips.

The Browns also have two players on the practice squad who are positive in center Javon Patterson and safety Elijah Benton, and one unidentified assistant coach -- not one of the coordinators.

The loss of Smith is big, because the Browns are already without linebacker Goodson, who tested positive on Saturday and also missed the Jets game.

Two other linebackers suffered ankle injuries in that game and were limited on Wednesday: Tae Davis and Sione Takitaki. But Stefanski both moved well in the shortened practice on Wednesday.

The Browns shut down their facility for the second straight day Thursday while they conducted contact tracing and are keeping their fingers crossed that no one else will be added to the list. Once that’s complete, they hope to practice later in the afternoon for Sunday’s big “win-and-in” game against the Steelers at FirstEnergy Stadium, like they did on Wednesday."

Yes.  Works at a local hospital.

COVID is beating the shit out of the Browns.

COVID is beating the shit out of health care workers too.

My long-time friend and his wife are burying her sister Sunday - a nurse - who succumbed to her second bout of Covid Tuesday.

Sad to hear.  Vaccine can't come quick enough.

I worry about my son working at the hospital.  Now that he's gotten shot one, I worry that it's safe, if he'll have a reaction.

I really like Ward, but the kid cannot be depended upon to actually be on the field when you need him.

It is really night and day between having Ward or not.

The strategy has not changed since Week 1.  Our best defense is not Joe Woods, Ward or even Myles Garrett.  It is Run the ball keep the Steelers offense off the field.

That's easier said than done.  If the Steelers commit to stopping the run, then they will stop the run.  In which case we will have to be able to pass.  We've known for almost all of this season that we're going to have to outscore our opponent......and that THAT might mean scoring every time we get the ball.

so.....

last game, squealers -

Ward is out. Sendejo and Joseph are out? Malcome Smith, Taki Taki's backup is out. Taki has an ankle injury, may not be able to play....Phillips and Goodson are out ?

Well, I think the Browns will win anyways - they got their wr's back. If Wills and Teller are back...we're still in the game winning chance.

Goodson is out due to positive CoVid test.

Phillips is not on any lists so I assume he is practicing and ready to go.
