ITHIKA
Isnt this something you do in the offseason? What a dumb move by Pioli, two weeks to play and no OC. The next biggest mistake they could make is giving the job to Carthon, which looks to happen. Pioli what a joke.. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...-of-his-duties/ Chiefs announce that Chan has been "relieved" of his duties Posted by Mike Florio on August 31, 2009 11:43 AM ET The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has been relieved of his duties as the team's offensive coordinator. Implicit in the statement from the organization is that Gailey, while he's out as the offensive coordinator, Gailey might not be unemployed. That said, the notion of Gailey sticking around in a reduced role seems unworkable, and it might simply be a way to nudge Gailey into quitting, since he'd then be owed no buyout. Carthon the Chiefs next offensive coordinator? Posted by Mike Florio on August 31, 2009 11:20 AM ET With Chan Gailey gone, the Chiefs need a new offensive coordinator. With the regular-season opener at Baltimore only 13 days away, they need one quickly. A perusal of the team's current coaching staff suggests a prime candidate for the job: Maurice Carthon. Carthon was hired as an assistant head coach, with no other specific designation. He made the leap from Arizona, with head coach Todd Haley, who was the offensive coordinator with the Cardinals. Carthon previously served as offensive coordinator in Cleveland, and he has close ties to Bill Parcells, the father-in-law of Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli.
