And we could also divvy up the authority. If people here are worried about partisan moderation, we could appoint a bipartisan team of guys who will work together. If one guy goes too far in moderating the opposing side, he'll hear about it from his fellow mod.

 

So it'd be important that the two guys get along. For instance, I could see mz the pussy could work alongside John. Or Heck could work with Tupa. Or Legacy could work with any of the liberals here. Juki could work with the opposite of whatever he is. So could Sev.

A friend was just telling me about his brother-in-law who works in the Secret Service, and from what he was saying it sounded like there was a fairly significant uptick in new threats for the president-elect. To anyone who has been on this board in the past year, how could that come as a surprise?

If you say Barack Obama is not qualified, how exactly would McCain/Palin be any more qualified? His economic policies were the same ones that put us where we are now. His foreign policy policies reflect that of a cold war leader. This is now a uni-polar world and we cannot treat our enemies like we did the USSR, and diplomacy is a good thing. Him being a prisoner of war did not make him anymore qualified to be commander in chief. His social policies would have shit over individual rights, much to the joy of the extreme right. His running mate was a corrupt and completely inept politician that would have been a travesty to have anywhere near the whitehouse.

 

John McCain would have had a better chance if it weren't for his entirely negative campaign full of fear mongering and lies. I like John McCain as a man, and even voted for him in 2000, but Obama was clearly and distinctly the better candidate this year.

 

You just watch, Obama will be a centrist president. There will be no socialism. Our standing on the world stage will improve and we will finally having some of the best minds in the nation running the nation, just like the founding fathers intended for it to be.

I really don't want nor need sympathy. I do the best I can. I work full time - sometimes it might be hard to tell - have a wife and two kids that sometimes need or want my attention, and have a dog that wants and needs a run in the woods every morning.

 

Folks might be surprised if they saw how many posts I actually delete. Unfortunately, recently I decided to take down three entire threads.

 

I'm not sure if another moderator or two would make a difference with certain posters. Some of what they say is OK, some is borderline, and I like to focus on what I consider to be way over the line - comics of big-lipped Obama, etc.

 

Using the ignore button is probably the best bet for those wanting to be insulated from what they consider to be stuff that is over the line.

 

For what it's worth, I don't believe Stan has deleted anything on this board. If he has, it is news to me.

 

We don't all have to disagree, but we should respect each other - and that also means acting in a way that fosters respect and dignity.

That's a totally inaccurate assesment. For me, it's not about user bans or whatever, it's the convoluted garbage that mucks up the index page. I made the original post above only 3 hours ago, and to have to break out a GPS unit, metal detector, and a Y-shaped stick to find the thread is extremely irritating. This would not be the case if the dingleberry's I had to comb through were actually worth reading.
