Westside Steve
Sounds of Freedom Angel Studios PG-13. 141 min You can only sell a bag of cocaine once. You can sell a 5-year-old to a sick son of a bitch five times a day for 10 years. Does that piss you off? It should. That's why Angel Studios Jim Caviezel and the producers of SOUND OF FREEDOM have been busting their asses to get this film to the screen for at least 5 years. Slavery was commonplace centuries ago but most civilized countries, including the United States put an end to it in the 19th century. Today it's estimated there are at least 50 million worldwide many if not many of them children. Tim Ballard (Jim Caviezel) was a special agent for Homeland Security who quit his job to track down children kidnapped and sold to pedophiles as sex slaves. This film is based on one of his actual experiences with operation Underground Railroad. That being said even though this film is listed as an action thriller, because of its nature, it is forced to stay within the bounds of reality. Which makes it somewhat less exciting but much more intriguing. There were times I wished Ballard had been played by Stallone and just blasted thousands of pedophile scumbags to Eternity. But that's not how it works in the real world. In the real world you take what small victories you can. That's what happens here. After the closing credits Jim Caviezel comes on screen and tells you the story of the making of the film and asks for your help. Not to enrich Angel Studios but to raise awareness for this all too real problem. I encourage you to see the film regardless of how angry it makes you and stay for that short message and do what you can. It's an okay flick as far as entertainment but very important to see and promote. A WSS
