calfoxwc
We watched this movie a few weeks ago. I've watched it again myself. It's a comedy - a lot like a parody of Humphrey Bogart in "Casablanca". The one liners are hilarious, the women characters are deliberately stereotyped and really funny. Peter Falk is great. There is a long list of stars who are in this movie - I figure they wanted to be in it when they read the script. It's really funny. One example - The detective meets with a woman who needs his help, like old serious detective movies, and she finally, after a lot of one liners, she says to him in the doorway- for him to call her. She says "you know how do dial don't ,you? Just put your finger in the little round hole".... I'll probably watch it again - seems that in the background, there are visual jokes I missed before. It's fast moving, really funny - a fun old 1970's movie to watch. Grade - B+ But if you have no sense of humor, and never watched old detective movies from the days of "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon"............you may not like it.

What an all star cast.. I haven't heard Stockard Channings name since I was a kid.. John Housman was another name I forgot about... Great stuff! When movies were cool and you didn't have some stupid broads with cottage cheese hangin out of their shorts..
