Trump pays $392k in legal fees to New York Times after failed lawsuit over disclosure of his tax documents | CNN Business

Donald Trump has paid $392,000 to The New York Times to cover the legal costs from his failed lawsuit against the newspaper and its journalists over a 2018 investigation into his finances that included confidential tax records, a spokesman for the Times told CNN on Monday.

Trump was ordered to pay the money in January, more than eight months after Judge Robert R. Reed granted the Times’ motion to dismiss the case against it and its journalists, concluding the journalists’ conduct was protected by the New York Constitution.

Among the claims that Trump brought against the Times was the accusation that the journalists were liable for “tortious interference” in how they allegedly sought out his niece and caused her to allegedly breach a 2001 settlement contract with the Trump family, CNN previously reported.

Looks like Cheetos is having some problems, that's too bad.

Trump lawyers say he's prepared to post $100 million bond while appealing staggering fraud penalty | AP News

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s lawyers told a New York appellate court Wednesday that he’s prepared to post a $100 million bond to halt collection of his staggering civil fraud penalty, arguing that provisions of the verdict make it impossible for the former president to secure a bond for the full amount.

Trump’s lawyers floated the offer in court papers asking the state’s mid-level appeals court for an order preventing New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office from enforcing the $454 million judgment while his appeal plays out. Trump would have to post the full amount to pause collection automatically.

The appeals court was expected to hear arguments at an emergency hearing Wednesday.

Judge Halts Trump’s Punishment But Not $464 Million Payout (thedailybeast.com)

But while Trump will have to pay the massive fine before he can proceed with his appeal, the judge did pause part of the decision—like the punishments suspending the business licenses of the Trumps and prohibiting them from borrowing from New York lenders.

Cheetos got his delay from the SCOTUS. Hear case in April and it will take a few more months to make a decision. Trial won't start until probably August or later.

https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/trump-immunity-ruling-supreme-court/

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would decide whether former President Donald Trump is entitled to broad immunity from federal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts that occurred while he was in office. The order from the high court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, marks the second time in a month that the justices will weigh a case with tremendous implications for the former president. In this dispute, the Supreme Court will consider whether the prosecution of Trump can move forward, or whether he is shielded from criminal liability.
