THE BROWNS BOARD

Browns Week 1

AP1

Recommended Posts

The game will be televised by FOX as their national game at 4:25 PM ET. It will also be the first NFL game in which quarterback Tom Brady will be in the broadcast booth, as he serves as the color commentator to Kevin Burkhardt, who will handle the play-by-play. Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million deal for that gig.

Regarding the game itself, the Browns (11-6) are coming off of a playoff season and hope to have QB Deshaun Watson fresh and ready. The Cowboys (12-5) captured the NFC East last year. Both teams suffered disappointing first-round exits, though, as the Houston Texans dismantled the Browns 45-14, while Dallas failed to defend their home turf in a 48-32 onslaught against the Green Bay Packers.

On the subject of facing the Cowboys, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said the following:

“It’s exciting to be able to open the season at home. Last year’s home opener was electric, and we expect the same atmosphere. We feed off our fans’ energy, and I am sure there will be a little extra juice from them with this being the first one of the 2024 season. The Cowboys are the defending NFC East champs, so it will be a great challenge and we are looking forward to it.”

The Browns also opened last year at home, as they dominated the Cincinnati Bengals 24-3, only allowing 142 yards of offense to Cincinnati.

The NFL on FOX was giving a bit of a preview for the upcoming season with Brady, and that is where they announced that the first game he calls would involve the Cowboys. Everything centered around Dallas, though, with just their tweet touching on the Browns:

What other games will be on the Browns’ schedule? Jared Mueller previewed the schedule here, calling the match-up with the Cowboys the one that would be “the most hyped up.” Facing them in Week 1 in a national time slot certainly lives up to that hype.

-  The.  BROWNS  right now  only have  10  1 pm games,  2  8 pm games and the rest are  4 pm or  TBD  ....  -OR-  subject to flex games. (SEE BELOW).

Evidently  "big things"  are expected from our  Cleveland BROWNS  in 2024.

The  "flexible scheduling rules for 2024.

This season, "flexible scheduling" for Sunday Night Football may be used up to twice between Weeks 5-10, and in the NFL's discretion during Weeks 11-17; for Monday Night Football in the NFL's discretion in Weeks 12-17; and for Thursday Night Football it may be used up to twice between Weeks 13-17.

During these Flex Scheduling Windows, the games initially scheduled for Sunday Night Football (on NBC), Monday Night Football (on ESPN or ABC), and Thursday Night Football (on Amazon Prime Video) are tentatively scheduled and subject to change. Only Sunday afternoon games (or those listed as TBD) are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, Monday night, or Thursday night, in which case the initially scheduled Sunday/Monday night game would be moved to Sunday afternoon. Sunday afternoon games may also be moved between 1:00 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. or 4:25 p.m. ET.

As in prior seasons, for Week 18, the final weekend of the season, the scheduling of the Saturday, Sunday afternoon, and the Sunday night games is not assigned. In Week 18, two games will be played on Saturday (4:30 PM ET and 8:15 PM ET) with the remainder to be played on Sunday afternoon (1:00 PM ET and 4:25 PM ET) and one matchup to be played on Sunday night (8:20 PM ET). Specific dates, start times, and networks for Week 18 matchups will be determined and announced following the conclusion of Week 17.

Jesus, how do we get one of those Charmin soft NFC South schedules?

Schedule comes out tonight at 8pm

Many may disagree, but we have no pushover Division games.

Imagine getting the Panthers or Saints twice a year or the Commanders or Giants twice a year, for that matter.

And most likely there is no end in sight either.

Baltimore is a very well-run and coached team with a QB who at the least is a great regular season producer.

Cincinnati has been a playoff caliber team for years now, as crazy as it sounds, from the Carson Palmer era to the Ginger era to the present day Joe Burrow era. The only "positive" about that is that Burrow is somewhat injury prone.

Pittsburgh has fallen into QB purgatory, which is a sure-fire way to fall into irrelevancy, but still is a very solid team and should be for years.

We do not get any cake division games, ever.

Well said! Even Baltimore, who had the best regular season record in the AFC, only went 3-3 in the division.  This is nothing new from the days of Cleveland, Cincy, Houston and Pittsburgh.

Just looking at the strength of schedule rankings AP1 posted above - the 1st 3 teams on it are Cleveland, Baltimore and Pittsburgh.  Apparently, Cincy gets a few more chances to exhale this season.
