bkosar74
http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2...romo-moves-up/ An interesting article that builds off of what a lot of statistical analysts have been saying the past few years in that passing yards per attempt is the one major statistic to look at when judging QB's. As a statistician, I think it's great that people are trying to improve the QB rating system. The actual website is http://www.nflstatanalysis.net/ and there's an interesting breakdown of why Romo is "better" than Favre - despite what the NFL passer ratings say. http://www.nflstatanalysis.net/2009/...gh-week-7.html Someday, as Browns' fans, we won't have to look at rankings like this and see our players all the way at the bottom. bkosar74
This is what happens when baseball fans get interested in football. I just laughed so hard I puked in my mouth. Although, I don't completely agree. I think there's value to this. Belichick is a big stat analysis guy./

Belichick is a big stat analysis guy./ There are a number of variations on this quote but I think they're right on the money: "Stats are like a bikini, what they reveal is suggestive, but what they hide is vital." There's a place for stats but they're not the entire picture.

Bag O'Browns
I thought this Mark Twain/Benjamin Disraeli quote applied to when people start bring up statistics left and right. (plus a little info afterward to see where he was coming from) Lies, damned lies, and statistics "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is part of a phrase attributed to the 19th Century British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, among others, and later popularized in the United States by, among others, Mark Twain: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." The statement refers to the persuasive power of numbers, the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments, and the tendency of people to disparage statistics that do not support their positions. The phrase is not found in Disraeli's works nor is it known within his lifetime and for years afterward
