Vick likely looking for a new team next year

Can we get Dungy and Vick.........pick up the phone Randy.

While being really, really careful not to say anything that would make waves, Philadelphia Eagles "quarterback" Michael Vick(notes) said yesterday that he's not thrilled about his role in the Philadelphia offense. He doesn't dig the WildDawg, and if it's up to him, he won't be doing it next year.

"It would be hard," Vick said of returning to the Eagles, according to excerpts released by NBC. "It would be an everyday struggle. But I would have to take that time to hone my skills and get better. I'm excited about the opportunity I have moving forward whether it's with Philadelphia or another team." [...]

"I won't be a WildDawg guy. I can't," Vick told NBC. "It's a different style of play. It's almost like a hit-or-miss type of thing. My position is quarterback. That's what I was born to do."

What he does next year isn't really up to Vick, though. The Eagles have the option to keep him around next year for $3.6 million, though it's got to be seen as unlikely that the Eagles would pay that much for a guy whose only function seems to be to prevent the offensive from functioning smoothly or with any rhythm.

Not that that's Vick's fault, mind you. That Andy Reid brings him to stall the offense periodically is Andy Reid's decision. Maybe Vick can't make plays anymore ... maybe he can't throw or run. If that is the case, though, might I present this crazy idea to Andy Reid? Stop putting Vick in the game.

Again, Vick wouldn't talk about specifics for next season, and just reiterated that he wants to help the Eagles win a championship. Tony Dungy wasn't shy about talking about potential future Vick destinations, though.

"I told Michael to just worry about this year," [Dungy] said. "It's technically up to Philadelphia. If they want him back, he has to stay there. If they don't, there are some teams looking for quarterbacks: Cleveland, St. Louis and Washington.

"But I think a dark horse is Buffalo. They talked originally. There was some communication there. I think that could be a good spot."

No way. He's LUCKY that he was forgiven, and got a chance to play in the NFL again.

And now, he wants to complain about what role he has? What?

Mangini is a character guy, and though I respect Dungy highly, he's full of crap on this one.

so let me get this strait.

You would rather have DA or Quinn at QB, rather then Vick because he was dogfighting....really

Would you like to have Ray Lewis, oh wait he killed people!!!!!!

I understand dog killing is very bad, and I think he is wrong I think he knows he was wrong, is he a thug? Yep he is...Do I think he was a piece of Sh#t for what he did? Yep he was.

But everyone on this board would take Ray Lewis in a heartbeat, But you would rather have DA and Quinn as QB.

THink about it...

Vick= tickets sold, jerseys sold

jesus we might have a blackout for a MOnday night game.......

Not that I thin that Vick would be our future, but at least we would have a decent QB, and then we could draft othr needs....

A blackout for a MNF game will speak to Slow Lerner volumes more than Charlie's Fries ever could.

Dogfighting? Personal insight- dogs don't like me- been bitten a few too many times- and I don't like them very much either. Wrong- don't want Ray Lewis, don't want Vick. Apparently time in the slammer hasn't changed MV's attitude. I wanna be a big star!!! 75 lifetime qb rating 30 years old, not what we're looking for.

Vick is not tickets sold, there's plenty enough Brady Quinn jerseys waiting for Mangini to get his head out of his a** and actually play him.

I have no respect for Vick at all. Even if you are a great player, you are the face of an organization that billions of people watch and children look up to. It's an entertainment business. So much exposure. If you screw up like Vick did, hell even Ray Lewis, they should be done and not let back in the NFL at all. Like that fight between the Pacers and Detroit, those guys should have been done as well. They represent so much more than just putting up points in a game. Just my opinion of course.

Have you all forgotten that Vick wasn't really a very good QB before the dogfighting and he certainly hasn't looked very good in the little that he played this year.

I don't think he's better than Anderson or Quinn at this point.

So - you highly respect a former Super Steeler and a Noll protege?
