ATENEARS
Armed Forces Bowl: Houston (10-3) vs. Air Force (7-5) Noon ET (ESPN) Three things to know 1. Houston's reward for a 10-win season: a rematch of last year's Armed Forces Bowl with Air Force. "Air Force is a program that relies on discipline and toughness," said Utah LT Zane Beadles, whose Utes needed overtime to beat the Falcons in October. "They will never quit, no matter the score. You need to be ready to battle for a full game." 2. Air Force will test the nation's top passer, Houston QB Case Keenum (5,449 yards, 43 TDs), with the nation's No. 1 pass defense. Falcons NT Ben Garland draws multiple blockers and creates lanes for blitzes, and cover CBs Reggie Rembert and Anthony Wright were all-conference selections. 3. Even if Houston's No. 112 rushing defense doesn't slow Air Force's third-ranked running game, the Cougars must remain patient on offense. "You think you need to score quickly because you don't know when you'll get the ball back," Beadles says. "They want you to start panicking." — Jim Gilstrap Guest pick ESPN analyst Rod Gilmore: Air Force. "Houston can score a ton of points with Case Keenum running the show. However, I don't see Houston having the ball enough to do so. Air Force will play keepaway with its great option attack." ATENEARS pick: Houston. "It's the great QB against the scheme gimik run game ... Bowl games are to showcase special players and Keenum is one who will emerge. Houston out shoots'em and forces Air Force to chew off more than they can chew."
ATENEARS
Two players to watch today, both on Offense for Houston. QB, #7, Case Keenum (6'-2", 210-lbs, Junior) Keenum can kill ya underneith but what NFL scouts want to see is if he can have accuracy in the deep to intermediate range. Keenum put up 5,020 yrds in 2008 with 44 TD's to just 11 INT's. He will top that this season as he has already thrown for 5,449 yrds, 43 TD's and only 9 INT's. Keenum is just 21 yrs of age. WR, #19, James Cleveland (6'-1", 205-lbs, Junior) Coming off an injury where he missed the entire season last year, he is second in the country in receiving with 101 catches for 1,182-yrds (11.7 avg.) and 14 TD's. ATENEARS
Wholly shit, Case Keenum is horrible. That kid is a glorified High School QB. Terrible delivery, weakass arm, poor accuracy. How in the hell did he throw for so many yards?
calfoxwc
We picked Houston, too. I figure that Houston, like a few other teams, simply partied all night, and really didn't care about winning the bowl game. They only cared about winning enough to GET to the vacatio....er...bowl game. That's how it looked to me, when Houston lost. and Miami of Florida. And Nevada. dammit.
