  1. 1) Raiders are East Bay, across the Bay from SF. That's why the symbol for the Warriors is a bridge...the Bay Bridge. It bridges SF and Oakland. Oakland has always been kinda second fiddle.....Giants over As, Niners over Raiders. It doesn't help that the Raiders have now moved twice, but I'll say this, Raider fans are loyal. There are just more 49er fans. 2) Kinda, but Santa Clara isn't a prairie town. Its all Tech. Google, Apple, EBay....all in the area. Its small in size, but its right in the middle of everything. 3) Candlestick hadn't become a warzone....it was always a warzone. The land itself that it was built on was a boondoggle. How the city got the land is a story in itself. Candlestick point is notoriously and consistently the coldest area in the entire Bay Area. It was built as a baseball stadium, and not a very good one. Then it was expanded and enclosed. It was really NEVER a good building. I loved the place myself, but it wasn't because of its charms...it was the history. It was located at Hunter Point tho, which is the roughest neighborhood in the whole of SF. BAD Neighborhood. Levis nothing like that. 4) Yup.
  2. I mean its a difficult thing really. At issue is that they have offensive linemen that fit what they do. Is it the Dallas Cowboy line? Not close. They are all athletes who can move in that ZBS system, but are they gonna just drop anchor and pass protect for 50-60 passes? No. Garoppolo making fast decisions, getting the ball out quick, and heavy play action has really helped them. I'd expect to see a lot more of that. I wouldn't expect them to go deep more than 2 or 3 times AT MOST and focus on play action passes on quick developing plays and a lot of running the ball, even if it doesn't look like its working early on. They won't just drop him back and let him be a target for Garrett.
  3. Kinda, but a difference.... 1) Jerrys World was in a BIG open space in Texas. Levis was build in a reserve Parking Lot for Great America. Why does it matter? Space. They are restricted. The stadium is 20 feet from the street (Tasman). I drive past it every day. Its surrounded so hard to expand. They are bulldozing a golf course for this project. 2) The other project across the street is: https://www.sfchronicle.com/business/article/8-billion-in-offices-retail-and-housing-to-be-13847339.php https://www.relatedsantaclara.com/ Essentially the project is designed to be a new downtown for Santa Clara. 3) I forgot Michael Minas. Michael Minas is a Steakhouse/Grill that is actually attached to the stadium. Good food, but WAY overpriced. I mean WAY. Also pretty small so might be impossible to get in on a gameday. 4) I know Niner history probably doesn't mean much to ya, but the Museum is pretty cool too. Might also be closed on gamedays tho. They have "The Catch" ball, all 5 Lombardis, and a pretty cool hall of statues of 49er Hall of Famers that you can walk among. Anyway, have a ball guys....just not too much in the game.
  4. There WILL be once it gets built out, but nothing really close. There is a true hole in the wall (I mean like a house converted into a restaurant) called Maria Elenas (Mexican Food...and technically in Alviso, but very close) that's pretty good and popular. Food is really good. I actually ran into Jed York there once (49ers offices are right next to the stadium). If you check it out tho....I warned you. Hole in the Wall. LOL. Everything else is just standard Togos, Taco Bell, Carls Jr, etc.
  5. That.....is a long story. LOL. You are correct....Levis is in Santa Clara which is about 45 minutes from SF. Reality tho is that the Niners kinda belong to entire Bay Area and not just SF. SF is the most famous city, but it isn't the largest. It can't be. Its surrounded on 3 sides by water. Santa Clara is a very small city, but its immediate neighbor is San Jose, which is the largest city by size and population in the Bay Area. Its also the capitol of the silicon valley. When the 49ers were in SF, a much larger % of their season ticket holders were from the South Bay than from SF. In addition, they really wanted that Tech Industry $$$$$, so boom, Levis Stadium. Add to that a 20 year battle with the city of SF, that's why they moved. Anyone who comes to the game will probably notice its surrounded by the Great America Theme Park (closed on Gamedays), Santa Clara Convention Center, and a Golf course (which is about to be ripped up and turned into a like 6 billion dollar mall/restaurant complex including a Joe Montana restaurant right across the street from the stadium). Pretty much everything else will be tech companies....Dell, Citrix, Marvell, etc. That last part is important for this reason...get there early. 5:15 West Coast kickoff puts it right in rush hour. Thankfully, I work at one of those tech companies so I'll be walking. I can actually look out the window and see the stadium from here. Anyone flying in, San Jose Airport is VERY close (so close that Levis is in the flight path and it partially dictated the maximum height of the stadium). Good Luck gentlemen.
  6. Yes....hairline fracture of the fibula. He'll be back in a month. Justin Skule replaced him last week and stayed off the stat sheet (which is good), but Bud Dupree ain't Myles Garrett.
  7. That makes a lot of sense. The ZBS is why they moved on from Trent Brown and why I think Laken Tomlinson is succeeding. Staley has always been uber athletic for a tackle as he was a converted TE. People make such a big deal about the 5 first round pick on the D-Line (tho Dee Ford was a 1st rounder by KC, not SF), but they don't realize ther are 3 1st round picks and a 2 on the O-Line (Staley, McGlinchey, and Tomlinson are 1sts, Richburg is a 2).
  8. Good Point. Happy to see SF wanted no part of that noise. I meant tho high draft picks specifically who have under-performed.
  9. It was actually the very first quarter of the very first preseason game vs Dallas. The staff seemed to like him but to be fair I've seen so little of him on the field that I can't say how he's looked in SF. Injury was gnarly tho. TV didn't really show it, but I was at the game. his foot was pointed in the wrong direction. ugg. Honestly, I dunno what to do with opinions of prior players whose fanbase hates them but play well in SF. Its happened a bit. Laken Tomlinson is a good example. Detroit wanted that guy out BAD, but he's actually been pretty good in SF. Change of scenery? Different Scheme? Dunno. Coleman may very well have sucked just as bad, but I don't know why the SF staff liked him. They did something similar a few days ago signing Teez Tabor who Detroit fans HATED. He's on PS so you won't see him, but I kinda like the signing of guys previously taken high and giving them another shot. Costs you almost nothing. As for Skule...yeah, he makes me nervous. On the plus side, while it may not always be pretty, he started A LOT of games in the SEC. The lights won't be too big for him...but #95 might be. My guess is they scheme for him. Chip with TEs and RBs. Line up TE Levine Toilolo, etc. Still, that to me is the biggest challenge of the game for SF.
  10. Just a note...if it turns into a 2 second drop short passing game, you will see A LOT of Kwon Alexander and Fred Warner dropping into coverage...which they are really good at. Honestly, I think the best way to attack SF is a lot of runs and play action.
  11. I know. I wouldn't want him as a starter, but in this league where tackles who can play are a rare commodity, he wasn't bad as a Swing Tackle...or at least, the coaching staff seemed to fine with him in that role as he never really had a chance to play.
  12. RE Shon Coleman - he was going to be the #3 tackle, the swing tackle, before dislocating his ankle in preseason. Starters are Staley and McGlinchey. The line has actually played very well this year, including against the D-Line that gave up 8 sacks on Monday Night. I also keep reading about ways to deal with Bosa and Ford, but you aren't even talking about the best player on the D. DeForest Buckner. You could be right on everything else. We'll see. I think many of you are greatly underestimating your opponent, but its all good. Should be fun on Monday.
  13. I'm sure they will....wait what? Browns win by 50.
  14. I'm actually a Niner fan. Just think the OP was kinda funny. All good tho. Yer boys looked better last night, particularly that Pass Rush. Nice to get that 1st win.
  15. So couple things.... 1) Kittle actually had 2 TDs called back on penalty in week one. 2) He's not hurt. He's the same guy. They just haven't needed him to do as much as he did last year. He's due for a big game. 3) The dude is a monster in the run game. He's a big reason they are running so well.
  16. Shhhhhhhhhh.... :D They'll win by 50. No worries. :D
  17. I'll respond only by saying I really hope Browns players and coaches think the exact same thing. Methinks you may be surprised Monday Night. Should be fun. Peace.
  18. Well, embarrassingly, the Cards won BOTH games against SF last year. Matt Breida was hurt during the game so only got 8 carries (Alfred Morris carried 18 times), but Breida averaged 7 yards per carry in that game. In the second meeting Breida was PLAYING hurt and averaged 2.6 yards per carry. You can really look at those two numbers and essentially make anything you want out of them. LOL. Those were both CJ Beathard games (third QB, not by a small margin) and the Cards never faced Garoppolo in SF (they faced him once with the Pats). Naw...its not homer of you. I can see what you see. I see if differently of course and that can just as easily be called homeristic. For me, its about one stat. Its a team stat which is difficult but there really isn't any getting around it because its so glaring. 49ers Record with Beathard at QB: 1-9 49ers Record with Mullins at QB: 3-5 49ers record with Garoppolo at QB: 9-2. (Only losses to Minn at Minn and KC at KC...and that's the game where he tore the ACL. He's never lost at Levi's) This is a different team with Jimmy behind center and they win games I don't think they have any business winning.
  19. If that's the case, you'll likely see a lot of Dre Greenlaw, LB #57. Rookie Backer, has played well, but has been susceptible to play action. LOL RE Millen. Yeah...difference is all but one of them is playing really well (Solomon Thomas being the exception). Millen does get grief for that....but he did draft Megatron.
  20. Yes, tho the Niners rank 2nd in rushing and the Rams rank 22nd. Certainly, a lot of that is situational, but Niner run game has been far more effective this year than LAs. I like McVay and I can't pretend I'm not biased, but I think Shanahan is BY FAR the better playcaller of the two.
  21. Yeah, strength of 49ers D is undoubtedly front 7. Buckner, Bosa, Ford, Armstead and Alexander and Warner playing behind them...all at a very high level. I dont know if this will have a huge effect, but there will be times they will be rushing Armstead and Buckner up the middle, and both of those guys are 6'7". Probably not an issue on long drops, but might on short ones. Rookie Dre Greenlaw has played well as well, but honestly Nickel Back K'Waun Williams plays alot more...and yeah, I know you guys probably know that name. He's been pretty damn good in SF and had an INT last week. Also something to be aware of, the D-Line isn't just those 4 guys. They've got a really good rotation. Solomon Thomas hasn't been great as a pass rusher, but he's an excellent run defender and plays inside and out. Ronald Blair has been really good as rotational DE. A name to keep an eye on tho? DJ Jones. He'll play quite a bit. Armstead and Buckner are tall, lean DTs (and Armstead will play DE as well). Jones is a space clogger. If the Browns try to go run heavy, DJ will be out there a lot. It won't show in the stats, but he's played well.
  22. I'm not so sure on running the ball, but I will say this...and this is what makes me nervous about the matchups. Where the 49ers have a weakness (replacement LT and replacement CB) is where the Browns have significant strength. You've said pretty much the same thing. Monday will be a test of those young players and the schemes of Shanahan and Saleh to protect those guys. This is gonna be a fun game....as long as Skule doesn't get Garoppolo killed. LOL.
  23. Ya...South endzone sun will be behind you for the most part. Might have it on yer left for a bit, but won't be in your eyes. I'll be on Niner side second deck looking down the south goal line, so not too far away. Jimmy has been really good at getting the ball out quickly, so hopefully Garrett doesn't completely destroy them. My guess is the FB and TEs will chip quite a bit and you'll see a ton of play action which hopefully slows them down. Steelers got a lot of pressure, but they blitzed like every other down. I wouldn't count on the 49ers sending too many blitzes unless they see something specific. They haven't blitzed much all year. Instead they've gotten pressure with 4 and dropped 7. I figured Bosa wasn't much of a mystery in the state of Ohio, but he's been better than advertised even if the sack numbers haven't shown it. Its pretty clear too that his ankle has gotten better and better from week to week and this week off has helped. Man. Can't wait. Early bye weeks suck (with exception of getting injuries healed). LOL.
