  1. A lot to unpack there. 1) Totally agree that he is the most dangerous QB they will have faced so far and that the skill positions will be the best they have seen. 2) Agree that Garrett vs Skule and however else they choose to address that will be the biggest mismatch on the field. That's my biggest concern. Thats what happens when you lose your swing tackle in the first quarter of a preseason game for the year and your Pro Bowl LT in week 3. Ouch. Its always those times when you lose multiple guys at the same position that kill you. 3) DBs....possibly. Its true that Witherspoon is out and I don't trust Tarvarius Moore, but Jimmie Ward is a player when he's healthy, I like JD Reid, and the Niners seem to love Emmanuel Moseley...tho I have no idea why. LOL. Sherman looks like teh old Sherman, now over a year removed from the Achilles. Still, certainly alot more star power at WR for the Browns than in the Secondary for the 49ers. I think you are leaving out a big piece here tho....49ers Pass Rush. Bosa has been a monster. He has 17 pressures through three games....which is the same as Garrett. Difference being he's been gimping around on a sore ankle and he hasn't been able to finish those plays with Sacks. Yet. He is more healthy now though, so should be fun. What he did to the LT of the Steelers (Alejandro Villanueva) should be illegal. LOL. Mind you...that's just Bosa. That's not Dee Ford or DeForest Buckner. 4) Not sure more Primetime Games is really an advantage. 5) I don't think they can just clean it up either in terms of holding on to the ball...but should be noted they had a combined 3 turnovers in week 1 and 2. Week 3 seems more of an oddity than a trend...especially since so many of the turnovers were unforced. 6) Ravens...OK, don't take this as me trying to devalue a team you beat and looked great until 2 weeks ago. I am not impressed with the Ravens or Lamar Jackson. The reason though has nothing to do with the Ravens/Browns game. It has everything to do with the Harbaugh Brothers, Greg Roman, and that offensive scheme. I saw that offense. Greg Roman was the 49ers OC with Colin Kaepernick. Is Lamar better than Kap? Maybe...but its the same damn offense that gets regurgitated and everyone calls it "new" and "unprecedented". Its an outstanding power run game with defined looks for the QB with a ton of play action. Hell, the 49ers took it to the Super Bowl in 2012. Its been figured out. It will work here and there and against lesser opponents, but that O and Lamar Jackson are short for the NFL landscape. Trust me. I've seen it. Recently. They are getting exposed now just as I suspected. The 49ers began to recognize that fact and that's when they tried to make Kap a pocket passer...and he's just not. Same will happen to Lamar. 7) Advice? I'm guessing you might already have yer tix by now but try to get seats on the Niners sideline (Suite Tower side). If you don't, you'll be blinded by the sun on the visitor side until the sun drops behind the tower. Its West Coast time, so sun will still be out for most of the first half. Niner fans have gotten a bad reputation for being a-holes at games, but alot of that "element" was priced out of the building when they moved to Levis. Stadium will probably have alot of empty seats at kickoff because the early start is right in the middle of rush hour. The stadium is flanked on all sides by big tech companies (one of which I work for and walk to the game from work) so getting in and out on a week night can be a challenge. If you have any specific questions, let me know. Looking forward to the game.
  2. Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to prop up the Bucs, tho that D was pretty stout in week 1, especially against the run. My point was that the 49ers weren't hitting on all cylinders either. Garoppolo clearly rusty and missing open targets (and he's been MUCH better last 2 weeks). They were also playing in 95 degree heat with crazy humidity and it started to show in the Buc run game late. They started getting push against a gassed Niners D-Line. Despite all that, if not for a few questionable holding calls (which seemed to be league-wide) they'd have beaten the Bucs by 20 or more. They had 4 TDs called back in the first 2 weeks of the season. Bottom line on Niners, they are 3-0 and actually haven't played all that well yet. Garoppolo was all over the place in week one and they had some serious butterfingers in week 3. They still make unforced errors that one would hope they get better with as the season progresses. As for nice Niner fans? Can't speak for them all, but typically fanbases that see their teams be really good for extended periods of time tend to skew a-hole pretty hard. Outside of 3 Harbaugh years, Niners have sucked hard for the past two decades. Weened alot of those guys out. LOL.
  3. Hey all. Niner fan here. No worries, no smack talk, just wanted to give as un-homerish a scouting report as possible as I see a few incorrect things in these two posts. 1) RE Bucs game: You could say that the Bucs hadn't gelled yet, but at the same time it was Garoppolos first game back after an ACL. He played poorly in one preseason game but actually played very well in his second preseason game. He was off all day vs the Bucs though. behind recievers, a WTF pass that ended up a pick 6, it wasn't his best day. Clearly rusty. Should be boted tho that the Niner pass rush is real. They were in Winstons face all day, intercepted him 3 times, but they dropped two more INTs that were in their hands. Bosa, Buckner, Armstead and Ford have been fantastic. Niners also had THREE TDs called back on penalty, two of which were Garoppolo TDs to Kittle and both were sketchy penalties at best. 2) RE Bengals Game: Yeah, they beat the doors off the Bengals. It was 41-17, but it wasn't that close. Bengals scored a late long TD to John Ross against backups. Niners put up almost 600 yards of offense, including over 250 rushing. 3) RE Steelers Game: "Week 3 in SF they edged the Benless Steelers by jumping out to an early lead and then hanging on." uh....no. You got that exactly backwards. The 49ers were beating the doors off the Steelers, but kept turning the ball over. they fumbled 3 times inside the Steelers 15 and Garoppolo threw two INTs, one of which bounced right off the RB hands on a screen and into the air. The score at halftime was 6-3 Steelers even thought the 49ers had nearly three times the Steelers yardage. The second half was back and forth with the Steelers hiting on long catch and run and then burning Jason Verrett who hadn't played in 2 years for another TD. Without those two plays, Rudolph was horrible. The 49ers generated 22 hurries on 27 passes. Nick Bosa got 7 on his own. The 49ers won a game in which they turned the ball over FIVE times, 3 of which were completely unforced. This isn't to say that the 49ers are word beaters. They are however, better than they are getting credit for. Strengths: The D-Line has been superb this year. Consistent pressure rushing only 4 all year. Their LBs, Alexander and Warner in particular, have been fantastic. Fast, Good in coverage, and in Alexanders case, all over the field. 49ers D is currently ranked #3 in the NFL in yards, 5th against the run and 6th against the pass. On Offense, they are ranked 4th in the league, 2nd in rushing and 17th in passing. Kittle is their best weapon in passing game, but rookie Deebo Samuel is starting to take off and rookie Jalen Hurd will get his first game action on Monday. Breida and Mostert are on pace to both run for 1000 yards and average over 5 yards per carry. Wilson has 4 TDs as a short yardage back, and Tevin Coleman is returning this week from injury. The 49ers have run more play action than any team in the NFL and that's the halmark of Kyle Shanahan (as many of you already know having his as an OC). He is also getting the ball out FAST (Garoppolo 3rd in NFL in time from snap to release). Weaknesses: Lest you think I'm just pumping them up, there are concerns. Joe Staley is out for another month or so and rookie 6th round LT Justin Skule is replacing him. The thought of Skule on Garrett terrifies me. LOL. In truth, they will scheme to protect him and he was mostly a non-factor against Pitt, but the Steelers don't have Garrett. Going into the season DB was a big concern. Less so now, but there are concerns. Sherman looks like the Sherman of old. FS Tarvarius Moore flashes at times, but is VERY young and has taken some very poor angles (one of which led to long catch and run TD by the Steelers). Jimmie Ward looks like he might be back to play FS, but that guy has never been able to avoid injury. We'll see. Ahkello Witherspoon has been fantastic. 3rd year guy CLEARLY having his best year as a pro. Unfortunately, he hurt his foot so he won't play for over a month. In his stead, they put in Jason Verrett who was a Pro Bowler with the Chargers pre-achilles and a host of other injuries, and he proceeded to give up a long PI and then a long TD on consecutive plays. They took him off the field. No idea if he plays on Monday. They have another rookie (Moseley) who will likely get the start. Overall, the 49ers seem so far to be doing what good teams do: They are beating teams they are supposed to beat. Monday will be a different animal. Should be fun guys. I'll be in the building. Looking forward to it. Peace. EDIT: Oh, 2 more things. 1) They have NOT dumbed down the offense for him. That's actually kinda funny. The offense is wide open. 2) I read someone somewhere say they were dinking and dunking all over the place. He is actually averaging 8.8 yards per attempt, which would be 3rd in the NFL behind Mahomes and Dak. He is not a deep ball thrower, but he consistently throws in the 15-25 yard range.
