We're all better off with an educated society. Being dismissive of pay by saying "well it should be your passion" is dumb. Most folks don't work where they're passionate. Some folks are better at the things they're not passionate about. We should value teachers higher and that should be reflected in their pay.

They're under paid and it causes the best teachers to seek employment elsewhere. Our country undervalues education, at least part of this country, and it shows. And Christ, I couldn't imagine trying to be a teacher in Florida

They're ridiculed for the hypocrisy of an affair when they preach family values, etc The conservative politician isn't ridiculed for being secretly gay. They're ridiculed for the hypocrisy of being secretly gay when they fight LGBTQ rights and push for "real marriage". The conservative politician isn't being ridiculed for not actually being Christian. They're ridiculed for the hypocrisy of not being Christian when they take photo ops with a Bible and pretend to care at all about Christianity to get votes. It's the hypocrisy that's being ridiculed, not the act (in most cases). Understand?

Except that data is skewed if sexual assault was never reported because of power structures, etc at the time that made the victim feel it was a lost cause.
