I’m going to keep reading the political board until Woody becomes a Republican or Cal becomes a Democrat.

So minorities and women have had privilege over others in hiring processes. I’ve heard that a lot. I guess there would be a lot of assumptions at times if it was put out in the open like that.

Is it just a feeling? Or can you point to certain things that show you are treated differently because of your skin color. I’m open to other ideas and opinions, but the privilege idea is mostly lost on me.

Does this not remind anyone of the cartoon characters that chose to try and outrun the falling tree, instead of trying to sidestep it?

As I stated in another thread, the courts have ruled many times that an officer be judged by what they had to do in the heat of the moment. We can Monday morning QB this thing all day long. A man who fights me to the ground and takes my Taser.... is most likely going to be shot. This man would have been taken to jail with absolutely no forced used if he would have complied. 99.9 % of the use of force videos you will see start with someone illegally resisting arrest. Turn around and put your hands behind your back when a LEO tells you to. If you feel you have been illegally arrested, sue the shit out of the LEO and his/her agency.

Good convo, I bleed and Dutch. I feel this is what’s lacking. do I stand at home for the Anthem? No, of course not. So why is it such a big deal when other people kneel, when I sit? Does it feel different in a crowd when the Anthem is played, like I Bleed talks about? To me, absolutely. Not sure what it is, maybe being around thousands of fellow countrymen, I guess.

I hope everyone understands the difference between this use of force and the UOF with Floyd, which was the most egregious UOF I have ever seen. The Supreme Court has noted several times that a court must put themselves in the shoes of officers in the heat of the moment when these UOF are being reviewed. Floyd did not look like he was resisting at all when Chauvin had his knee in his neck. Doesn’t matter what happened before hand. In Atlanta, it was an active fight with the man who had just taken a weapon from a cop and pointed at him. Two totally different circumstances, but it’s almost as if they are being looked at the same. Say what you want about shooting someone an armed man running away from you, even if they are armed. Those cops and their attorneys will have to justify that. Just please don’t think of this the same as Floyd. Don’t resist arrest. Don’t take a weapon off a LEO’s belt. Don’t put all the blame on the cops and say what they could have done. What could the suspect have done? Or better yet, what shouldn’t he have done?

I would agree and disagree. Depends on what your definition of bad is. Are 4% of cops douchebags? In my experience... no. More like 10-20%. Would 4% of cops do something as sick and twisted as Chauvin did? I don’t believe it would be even .00004%. I ask the same question most others do, how do you weed those people out? Unfortunately, I don’t know.

I’m a cop. I have an above average IQ. I work with a lot of people who are as equally or more intelligent than I am. I don’t hate anyone. We live in dark times. Not sure what else to say.
