It's more that I'm not treated differently. No one had ever questioned if I got into my university or if I was in my role to fill a quota. I've seen and heard those thoughts about others. I've had people assume people on my team were hired because of that thinking. I've been asked to lean towards women and minorities in my hiring process.

    Things like that.

So minorities and women have had privilege over others in hiring processes. I’ve heard that a lot.

I guess there would be a lot of assumptions at times if it was put out in the open like that.

    - I watched the video. Sorry, but I just have a hard time trusting anything Veritas puts out at face value because they've been caught red handed. This video is basically a jaded former employee with hidden camera footage of his conservative friends agreeing with him. Some bias shown in there by individuals, sure, it just doesn't seem like a damning video against Facebook.

    - If Section 230 is modified to remove protections from social media it basically kills it. Facebook and Twitter are cesspools, sure, but sites like YouTube are fucked too. I'm not exactly fighting to save them but the fallout will be huge.

    - I didn't watch Tim Pool's video because I generally just don't enjoy the guy's videos and he's never made any real eye opening points IMO.

    - This Ryan Hartwig guy complaining about getting passed over because he's a white, make, conservative. Idk, maybe, but go look at his LinkedIn. He's not exactly a world beater over there. Nothing that impressive. Hell, his position on linked says "Entrepreneur" now which is hilarious and he has his own blog pimping this video and showing a book he wrote that you can buy.

    - Also, finally, I just don't buy into the "I'm so oppressed as a straight, white male. Everyone is against me." That's some 4chan incel Q Anon talk in my eyes. I don't feel oppressed in any way, and I never have. Posters here are gonna flip out but yes, I do feel like I have some privilege. That is just my experience though.

Is it just a feeling? Or can you point to certain things that show you are treated differently because of your skin color.

I’m open to other ideas and opinions, but the privilege idea is mostly lost on me.

  3. As I stated in another thread, the courts have ruled many times that an officer be judged by what they had to do in the heat of the moment. We can Monday morning QB this thing all day long.

A man who fights me to the ground and takes my Taser.... is most likely going to be shot.

This man would have been taken to jail with absolutely no forced used if he would have complied. 99.9 % of the use of force videos you will see start with someone illegally resisting arrest.

Turn around and put your hands behind your back when a LEO tells you to. If you feel you have been illegally arrested, sue the shit out of the LEO and his/her agency.

All men and women are. Even if they were perfect they were perfect for the time. No one can predict what changes the future holds. That's why I always think it's so crazy to act like the constitution is set in stone instead of it being a living document that should be updated with the times.

Completely agree. That’s what this thread is intended to discuss, I thought. 2/3 of the states is all it takes 😎

Oh goody, l got the age card here. Which is pretty much bullshit. These are all microcosms imo. Big pictures are what concern me. We got a window here, and as much as a pain in the ass as it is l want to carry who l can through it.

    Where the fuck is Gorka?

You mean... trying to be a voice of reason in a huge pile of horse shit?

  6. Good convo, I bleed and Dutch. I feel this is what’s lacking.

do I stand at home for the Anthem? No, of course not. So why is it such a big deal when other people kneel, when I sit?

Does it feel different in a crowd when the Anthem is played, like I Bleed talks about? To me, absolutely. Not sure what it is, maybe being around thousands of fellow countrymen, I guess.

What is so hard to understand??

A person can be both against and for abortion (I am)

A person can be both for tight boarder security and for legal immigration (I am)

A person can be both for the police and against the bad cops (I am)

A person can be against racism while not supporting the BLM organization (I am)

A person can be both for the right to bear arms yet wants tougher gun ownership regulations (I am)

A person can believe in a higher power (God) yet believe we are not alone in the universe (I do)

A person can be a Browns fan and still pick them to go 6-10 and win the preseason prognostication pole most years (I do)

I'm shocked. Let's see the district attorney is black and he's up against a pretty rough election struggle. Too lazy to look it up but I bet it's substantial, the percentage of African Americans in Atlanta Georgia...

Now do you suppose it's in his best interest defined as much fault as he possibly can with de po-lice?

Yes I know you and Joe Biden thjnk the officer should wait until he was hit by the stun gun and either beaten to death or his service revolver taken away from him.

    WSS

YOU might be watching too many westerns if you think we still carry six shooters 😎

  9. I hope everyone understands the difference between this use of force and the UOF with Floyd, which was the most egregious UOF I have ever seen.

The Supreme Court has noted several times that a court must put themselves in the shoes of officers in the heat of the moment when these UOF are being reviewed.

Floyd did not look like he was resisting at all when Chauvin had his knee in his neck. Doesn’t matter what happened before hand.

In Atlanta, it was an active fight with the man who had just taken a weapon from a cop and pointed at him.

Two totally different circumstances, but it’s almost as if they are being looked at the same.

Say what you want about shooting someone an armed man running away from you, even if they are armed. Those cops and their attorneys will have to justify that. Just please don’t think of this the same as Floyd.

Don’t resist arrest. Don’t take a weapon off a LEO’s belt. Don’t put all the blame on the cops and say what they could have done. What could the suspect have done? Or better yet, what shouldn’t he have done?

I applauded you for your work and mean no disrespect. Hell I believe you but there's WAYYY too many bad apples at this point, even if it's 4 percent of officers that are bad that's too much. Cops are essential to society the same way as an engine on a plane is. Think... would you be ok with an engine failure 4 percent of the time while going on a trip to Vegas? These guys should be held to highest of standards because they meant to protect all people end of story. This could have easily avoided if this was handled internally by police doing the work themselves think eg. MLB. But maybe being a "nark" had too many downsides I guess. Would really like to hear your input if you had anymore thoughts. Dark times indeed my friend. Stay safe.

I would agree and disagree. Depends on what your definition of bad is. Are 4% of cops douchebags? In my experience... no. More like 10-20%. Would 4% of cops do something as sick and twisted as Chauvin did? I don’t believe it would be even .00004%.
I ask the same question most others do, how do you weed those people out? Unfortunately, I don’t know.

Probably very low. Hill jack states like Kentucky you don't even need a HS diploma.  Over in Europe many countries train their police for 2-3 years and the use of a gun is a last resort. Your taught to deescalate dangerous situations. Over here it take 23 weeks in the police academy to get your badge and you get cops beating 75 old men and laughing about it as an end result. Many of these people were bullies in school. Add in the direct correlational that racism is also directly tied to being uneducated, stupid, and ignorant and you have the mess that we are in. It also doesn't help the police "Policing" themselves is simple not working, like at all. It one thing for you to let a fellow police officer off the hook for having a few to many, it's entirely a different story when you sit there for 9 minutes while an man dies under co-workers knee and you sit there doing nothing.

I’m a cop. I have an above average IQ. I work with a lot of people who are as equally or more intelligent than I am. I don’t hate anyone. We live in dark times. Not sure what else to say.
