The browns are a mystery box, good d, Inconsistent offense, playmakers can make things happen when they get the ball, young quarterback that learned a lot tonight. Baker was inconsistent.

combo of bad throws and a terrible ol......he's going to on ir if this keeps up....soooon.....

The Jets actually had the ball longer than we did.    (...just checked out the game book)

OBJ was targeted 10 times (6 catches).  Landry 7 targets (3 catches)

TE's targeted 3 times with 1 measly 4 yard catch.   It is THIS position (along with Higgins) that was supposed to flourish with OBJ & Landry on the field.  Higgins didn't suit up and Njoku was lost early in the game.  Higgins' replacement chipped in with a couple of 20+ yard receptions (Ratley) but it is Higgins that Baker developed a 'feel' for when he arrived in Cleveland.  Ratley was  hurt (again).

Basically, we were without two weapons.

At TE, without Njoku, we're without a TE to throw to.  At least that's the way it looks right now.  You'd be tempted to want DeValve back, but really, he was just a tall lumbering lug who couldn't stay out of the medical tent.  We'll probably set TE as a mini-priority in next year's draft.

    Freddie:

I didn't like the idea of going for it on 4th down.  Fortunately, we benefited from a defensive penalty to convert one.  And Freddie was only bluffing on the two other 4th down plays.   The Jets were crippled.  We should've kept punting them deep in their end (which is what we did).  BTW, Hue was too dumb to try and draw a D offsides on 4th down.

I didn't understand all of the passing in the closing minutes of the game.  I mean, why put Baker in position to get injured with a 20 point lead on a team with a crippled offense?  It didn't make sense to me.  We should've been running the ball and punting if we had to.

all i can say is lucky we played the jets with their injuries...other than miami, we would have got our asses kicked...we play like this against the next 5 teams, we will not win one of those games....never saw so much undiscipline play in my life...the ol stinks...poor baker.....at least we cut the penalties down to what...8, which is still bad....fucking someone has to smack garrett in the head...he's heading for possible ejection with his play....we will see how we play against a  quality team in the rams this sunday......somehow i think its going to show that we should have hired williams instead of kitchens....

Darnold had "Mono"... a/k/a "the kissing disease"...

Trevor Siemian, recent Elway savior turned castoff, is the NYJ backup. Numbers he racked up in Denver are decent... for a backup.

And our history vs. backups is littered with bad results. Once upon a time it seemed that whenever we knocked out a starter, the #2 beat us.

I doubt Gase is going to put the game on Trevor's shoulders. Expect them to "pound the rock" early and often.

to make matters worse, it appears bell may not be able to go, but not 100 percent sure at this time...i have seen this time and time again...this looks like a recipe for disaster for the browns....they will as you say, run run run and rely on their d which is quite good....this game will be closer than anyone thinks..

sorry, I see that as wrong.Kitchens is the PERFECT coach to be Coach of the Browns. The players fought for a half, it was close - but game time is different - timing is different - and the Teets played like they were po'd at the attention and hype the Browns have been getting. and their defense

As far as "over-hyped"...sure...that is what the media does. But the changes to the Browns and their success the last third of last season does deserve some serious attention.

The Kardiac Kids, 1980, lost the first two games of their season. They ended up 11-6. Even week 12, they got hammered by the bungles.

The Browns lost their composure - the defense was being held like crazy, and the offense was being overrun. And don't anybody tell me there weren't non-calls and calls that benefitted the teets. The OPI on OBJ was a huge example. Their oline got away with a lot of crap that should have been called. Not so much on the Browns offensive line. I'm just sayin what I'm seein. Our LT Robinson got shoved down well after the play was over, NO CALL. The teet that shoved him seemed to be going after him again, and Robinson got po'd and put his foot up to his head to stop him, still on the ground, immediate call of UC and ejection of Robinson.

There are different examples the Browns suffer this crap. I believe some other teams see it, and bait the Browns, some of the Browns don't handle it well.

       That will change.

Anyways...in 1980, the Browns went 11-6, but lost their first two games. And their first game they got hammered by the Patriots.

It's a long season. We'll see how it goes, but judging by the first game is just not valid. I'm concerned about the oline, but still, the Browns didn't have one of the best olines back then either. They will adapt.

How many of you remember the very first ABC MNF game verses the Namath led Super Bowl champion NEW YORK JETS and our CLEVELAND BROWNS?

Namath was starting to show his years and the battered up knees but still hung around for awhile and the BROWNS fans packed the Old Muni with upwards of 80,000 fans and were still considered contenders and a top 5 NFL team.

It was quite a time in football and American history.

That's absolutely crazy. We looked cataclysmic today in virtually every aspect of the game, and while it's only one game, what makes people think we're actually a decent team? Penalties don't just go away, and we're in total deep shit right now. I can't imagine we'd be favored on the road, but hey, you never know. Jets game can't get here soon enough.

jets suck too, by 2.5 points....thats why....

No team enters this season more hyped than the Browns. Many are projecting them to win the AFC North and be a serious Super Bowl contender. That’s a lot of pressure to put on a team that is 11-52-1 the past four years, has a second-year quarterback and hasn’t made the playoffs in 17 years. Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry are reasons for Cleveland to be excited. The Browns don’t lack for talent. But they must prove things first.

The Titans are a solid team in the AFC South, the most competitive and strongest division in the AFC. Tennessee doesn’t
have superstars. The Titans also don’t have any glaring weaknesses. They had a winning record in 2018 with a plus point differential. Only two teams surrendered fewer points per game than the Titans last season. Tennessee ranked sixth in pass defense.

Mayfield was 1-5 SU, 2-3 ATS in five games with a 10-to-11 touchdown-to-interception ratio versus teams that ranked among the top 19 in pass defense. Cleveland improved its skill position personnel, but its offensive line is noticeably weaker with the loss of guard Kevin Zeitler. The Browns gave up the third-most yards per game last year while ranking 28th in run defense. Derrick Henry was a beast down the stretch rushing for 585 yards and scoring seven touchdowns during the final four games. That projects to 2,340 yards and 28 touchdowns for a season.

The Titans have upgraded Marcus Mariota’s weaponry adding slot-option Adam Humphries, rookie wideout A.J. Brown and getting tight end Delanie Walker back from an ankle injury that sidelined him most of last season. The Browns have covered only 31 percent of their last 29 home games.

SO what does that mean? It means screw the ancient history and go with the 2019 BROWNS -5.5 for a bundle and put some on the OVER 45 and collect next week!  :D

that talent as you say don't mean shit if you have no ol.....don't mean shit....if they continue to play like they did against the titans, baker will be on ir shortly...very shortly....the bikering will start and this will become another normal piece of shit cleveland browns football team....they best win next monday against the pitiful jets....if they don't.....heh heh heh....

Not if your team keeps fucking up badly. And they were.

stop blaming the fucking refs....our team deserved a high percentage of those calls.....they sucked....end of story...fucking players kicking the opposition in the head...guess that was a b ad call also....the only call i saw that was bad was the qb sack on baker as he was not nearly in the grasp...they could have even called more penalties on the clowns...i saw them get away with some that were not called.on top of the ones that were....the coaches deserve alot of blame for a hugh lack of discipline...hugh lack of....

    Disgusted? Yes I am.

I never coached FB, so here is my ignorant POV (and I won't even mention officiating as the entire league has to tolerate & overcome that)

1- Seems like we read our press clippings rather than taking this game seriously.

2- 18 penalties? ATROCIOUS, & it wasn't all the refs.

3- Damn near 70% of our plays were pass plays. We won't win in this league with that kind of imbalance.

4- From Freddie on down, they should ALL bend over, take a good swift kick in the ass, LEARN from this fiasco, blame ONLY themselves & come back with renewed focus, discipline, & determination. No finger pointing...OWN THIS BEATING!

    Browns......It's time to MAN UP!

    Mike

i just don't think kitchens is going to be around very long...browns spent alot of moola to see this fail because of poor coaching....guys like landry and becham ain't going to put up with this shit very long...they will get their money, start bitching because of the losing and then get out of dodge....probably to new england.....heh heh

You are right about the lack of discipline. This reflects poorly on the coaching staff. 18 penalties for 182 yards, the most since 1951?? WTH?  I thought they were going to live up to the hype after the successful first series but thereafter it was a backwards slide to a dumpster fire. Baker was running for his life much like Tim Couch was, the last time there was such preseason hype about the Browns.  It was a very disheartening day for this 70 year old Brown’s fan.

so far....same shit.....for 20 years now....piss poor undisipline play....i'm watching the pats pummel the squeelers....you want to talk about a disipline machine...man...it makes me sick that we can never play the way the pats do....looks like next monday is a must win already because we ain't beating the rams the following week...they better turn this crap around immediately...

i think the browns set some kind of penalty record today.....i think they said they had more penalties in this game than some otto graham game back in 51.......yikes.....there were some questionable penalties, but most of them were legit...they stunk up the field today...

Baker is an easy target because he likes the sound of his own voice.  You can run your mouth when you win but those QBs, with the exception of Rodgers typically don't.  Brady, Brees, Dak, Wilson, Wentz, etc. don't yap.

yep....sorry baker, this is not sw louisiana state u......
