I watched a video of the renderings of the new Bears domed stadium and part of me died inside

I hear ya.  But a part of people died after the Chiefs playoff game.  (amputations)

Games are being played deeper and deeper into the winter.  We're at a 17 game schedule right now.  How long do we think that odd # 17 is going to last?   It's going to be 18 some day.  And they'll probably throw in another bye week.  So we'll be even deeper into the winter.  And the league will be scheduling night games...because it gives good TV ratings from the people sitting warm in their living rooms.  I mean really, we wouldn't make our dogs stay out in that weather for the time frame of a football game.  But it's ok for humans.

    - LB class fails to impress me top to bottom

Yeah, it's not touted as a good LB draft.  I know that it's hard to justify a WR with all of the WR's we have...some of them draft choices from recent drafts that should be expected to flourish right about now...but it's a deep receiver draft so I expect we'll come out of the draft with one.  Whichever WR is currently 'on the bubble' most probably won't be missed (Bell?).  -  Having said that, WR will probably be deep in drafts for the foreseeable future.  I mean, colleges no longer run the wishbone.  The college game now mimics the pro's.  And I also like the college football player's new financial situation.  It's keeping more kids in school for their senior year.  Perhaps a percentage of these will come out with some sheepskin.

This was like 2022 when the Browns pretended DT wasn't important at all.  End result?  This team couldn't stop the run

I think that another factor was the thinking that the guys that were previously drafted to take over the IDL were now ready to step in and play at a high(er) level.  And as we found out they were rotational talent at best.

I'd say there is a higher probability we take an interior O-lineman before we would take a LT.  The only reason as I see it is there should be better guards on the board than LT prospects.

Yes.  Round 2 is more of a sweet spot for guards.  In general the pecking order would be:  LT, then RT, followed by G & OT's that are projected to be G's....and sprinkle the C position in there somewhere based on talent and/or ability to play G also.

We all have our own ideas on which position(s) we would like addressed 1st, and there'd be valid reasons for all of 'em.  But with no 1st round pick yet again we need to draft BPA and not try and force anything...at least until round 5.  Picks 54 & 85 have got to be able to help us in the future.  If they can help us this season, that's gravy.

You think they would pass on a LT because Wills is on the roster? Isn't he on the last season of his rookie contract?

And Conklin should retire. Guy can't stay healthy enough to play into October.

Jones is the only Tackle on the roster worth building around long-term.

I agree with everything you said.  AND, I'm not real high on Wills.  (I'm the one who claims that he's got it written in his contract that he only need block for 3.5 seconds per play)  IMO, there are 3 positions that are 'first round important' positions.  QB, premier edge rusher and LT.  Not that you can't find really good ones in later rounds...but the probability goes down on a faster curve.  I think it'll be 2025 for LT...unless they find one on day 3 this year.

  6. Here's our 1st round pick  :)

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent OL Germain Ifedi. The club also placed T Justin Murray on reserve/retired.

Ifedi (6-5. 325) is entering his ninth NFL season out of Texas A&M. Originally a first-round pick by Seattle in 2016, Ifedi has appeared in 102 career games with 83 starts with the Seahawks (2016-19), Bears (2020-21) and Falcons (2023). He has made 59 career starts at right tackle and 24 right guard. Last season, he spent most of the season on the Bills' active roster but did not appear in a game.

Now the Clowns honor half ass participation... Cute...

Kirksey was pretty good.  I remember before a Monday night game (perhaps it was Thursday night?), Chris Collinsworth described Higgins, "Well he's not fast.  And he doesn't run particularly good routes.  But he and Baker have a chemistry."  I kept hoping that the next year would be the year that he made the jump....but he was never much more than a cornerback's dream receiver to cover.  Kind of like DPJ.  A couple of receptions per game...on a good day.   Higgins had a pretty good schtick though...walking the red carpet.  :)

but it certainly looks like he may not be ready at training camp.

Since he has some time, perhaps he should hit the books and draw up some more QB run plays for himself.  You know, one's where he takes on tacklers and stuff...to show his love for the game.

  9. So when will he be ready to go? Well, that depends, as Watson explained (quotes via a team-provided transcript😞

“I mean, the plan is to come back whenever they feel like, and I feel like we’re on the same page, that we’re ready. So there’s not a timeline or a date that we have that this is when I’m going to be 100 percent. It’s just kind of how the process goes … It can be sooner than later, it can be later than sooner. I think it just really depends on how each landmark we hit and how fast we can get it and how my shoulder is reacting.”

For those keeping score at home, “they” is referring to the Browns training staff, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the Los Angeles-based surgeon who operated on Watson, and Watson’s group, which includes his quarterback coach Quincy Avery.
