Much greater economy of time and effort to assail the critic than to actually develop a counter-factual argument. Well let's put it this way. You wouldn't listen to a homeless guy's ideas about how to get rich. Why even waste the time to develop some argument against his ideas? I'd listen to Warren Buffet first.
