What the Steelers Winning Would Mean to Browns Fans

I have been a Browns fan my entire life. My Dad is from Pittsburgh and every year at Thanksgiving it is 15 Steeler fans and me. I am a senior at John Carroll University and feel that I have spent the last four years of my life going to school in Pittsburgh. There is a huge amount of Steeler fans on this campus including my cousin, who is from Pittsburgh. I often get into arguments with all of them but not over the two teams, but over the two team's fans. For the most part none of the other people are able to compare Browns and Steeler fans to one another. When they realize i am right about the Browns fans being better and more loyal, they always come back at me with "yeah well we still have 5 Superbowl Wins." I don't let that get to me because i know a time will come when the Browns are the best in the league and win a few rings. I am also currently doing my student teaching at a high school in Bedford where I have a few Steeler fan students. I have caught crap from Steelers fans my entire life and will be catching it until the day I die. So with the Superbowl being tomorrow I would like to let all those who are wondering what the Steelers winning a record sixth Superbowl ring will mean to Browns fans. Are you ready? The Steelers winning would mean absolutely nothing to us. We don't care that you have 6 Superbowls and we have never been to one. You can't get to us. We know we are the best fans in the world and we will continue to be forever. Pittsburgh's rings and wins mean nothing to us and they never will. I did a speech my sophomore year on why Cleveland fans are the best and most loyal in all sports and i ended it with this: "It is easy to root for a team when they win, but we root for our teams every time they play, regardless of the final score." No matter where I move to or where I live, for the rest of my life I will always live in Brown's Town.

surprisingly there is a large amount of buffalo and chicago fans as well. they are good people though. i didn't hate steeler fans until came where. they are the most obnoxious people in the world. however the buffalo and chicago fans have become steeler haters too, which is great. if there are any fans i respect almost as much as browns fans it is buffalo fans. they have had as much, maybe even more heartbreak than us as far as football goes.

Fairweather pukesburgh fans are everywhere when they start losing their fanbase will be more localized again during the 80's the browns picked up a lot of national fairweather fans most of those are likely pittsburgh fans now believe it or not a lot of nfl fans are just that nfl fans and only like who is winning the most in recent years..

If you live outside of the brownsbelt you know what i mean and prolly know at least one of these bandwagon jumpers...i have a neighbor thats went from bengals in the 80s to cowboys in the 90s to washington in the early 2k and is currently a pukesburgh fan...

I have only been and always will be a browns fan! ;)

It has been determined by many 3rd party sources that Steeler fans have the most women fans, best traveling fans, and overall, best fan base of any sports team. I know you have pride in you own fans but don't act like Steeler Nation is inferrior to you guys. We sold out every game since 1972. We stick through some bad times.

I wasnt implying "die hard" steeler fans arent good fans they are great fans i am implying that the winning teams become popular and pick up tons of fairweather fans but other than that the steeler fans have never suffered an era even close to what browns fans have suffered the past 10 years but i cant wait until it happens so we can see! ;)

Yawn ... your stadium is among the smallest of open-air stadiums. According to last season, your stadium was only at 96.8% occupancy, and ranked 26th in the league in Home attendance. (source)

You do, of course, realize that you just proved our point. Wasn't 1972 the first year that you went to the playoffs since 1947?

Is it a coincidence? ...obviously not.

Good post.

You know, this Super bowl is kinda fun actually, because they are supposed to win ... it's the Cardinals!

So either they win ... eh, whatever, figured they would awhile ago ...

or they lose ... and it's an enjoyable Sunday of football.

I like having a rooting interest for the Super Bowl. Last year it was ... somebody beat those smug Patriots! This year it's ... c'mon Kurt, shock the world and beat the Steelers and their towel-waving inbred fans! Man, I can just see them all hanging their heads and crying into their towels as the red and white glitter falls ... I'm getting kinda pumped actually.

Your fan base has a lot of women because many, many women don't truly give a shit about football and are just bandwagoners for the convenience and trendyness. Granted that is not always true, but I would say it is more often than not. You don't "travel" well, you have frontrunners who live in away cities just like we have Cowboys "fans" living around here. You sell out only because you have one of the best if not the best win % since 1972. On the surface, the Steeler fan base looks impressive. To anyone who knows better, it's rather pathetic.

Especially outside of Pittsburgh, it's almost exclusively geeks, losers, white trash, and women. People who you could bet your left nut wouldn't even have a clue what the Pittsburgh Steelers were if they had won at, say, a 35% clip over the past 40 years.

You better believe that when the Steelers go through about 10-15 years of perrenial 5-11 seasons someday in the future, you're going to see that the Browns fans were right all along when you see your spoiled pretend Steeler fans dropping like flies.

Win or lose the Browns 7 Championships in 10 years is the most impressive feat in NFL history. The 49ers 5-0 in Super Bowls from '81 - '95 is far more impressive as well. Pittshole at 5-2* or 6-1* doesn't come close to comparing.

* Record debatable due to tainted results from referee collusion in Super Bowl XL.

When your team gets raped and taken from you, then you can say that you fans have kept your chin up through bad times.

I went to JCU ('95) and yes, there are a lot of Pittsburgh, Buffalo and upstate NY people there.

As for the Steelers, I feel this way: Does Rooney have anymore sons that can buy the Browns.

They would have to sell off their intrest in the Casino's first :)

By the way what is the line in Vegas for the game?

Thats a Cry fest dude. Get over your self. So Funny how Even ESPN Recognizes Pittsburgh Fans as Being among the Very Best in Sports. I have heard a bunch of Analyst on TVs say the Same this year. But in Brownie-town ...its always the SAME. "Were Better than You". Whatever man. I think the Browns in General have some great fans. However its getting to be an epidemic , the continual Whining about How "BAD" SteelerNation is... that's Total BS. And the ONLY People in America who buy this Crap , is Brownie~Nation. Quit with the crocodile tears... it totally embarrassing. Does it make you Better fans , cuz you team isn't winning ? NO... and I give Props to the Many Browns fans who stay Loyal to the Browns , Dont have "Another Team" they follow , and choose to Respect the Steelers , HATE but respect and own up to the Fact We Represent !! Pittsburgh has a Great fan base... Get Over yourself.

I think I would rather watch one of the lost episodes of the Mandrell Sisters than tuning into the Steelers winning a Superbowl. Seriously, I've seen enough of the poster boys for Human Growth Hormone to buy into any more of their False Glory episodes.

Steeler fans don't like Cleveland fans because we don't sell out like weaklings do. Toughen up like Canada did with Ben Johnson. They didn't count his medal or throw him a parade when they discovered his ethics were dishonorable. There's always a right way and a wrong way. One just takes a little more courage, loyalty and integrity.

- Tom F. (One former Steeler wrote a book about all his remorse for the widespread cheating on his team and titled it "False Glory." That doesn't look like post-trophy peace to me as it shouldn't)
