calfoxwc
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/21/rick-spielman-quarterback-decision-is-torturous/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs “That’s a big reason why we made it a high priority to sign Matt Cassel back. Every one of these quarterbacks … nothing is a sure thing. There’s no Andrew Luck, no Peyton Manning,” Spielman said. “It is such a mixed bag with each player—every one of them has positives, every one of them has negatives. And if that’s the way you end up feelings, why don’t you just wait till later in the draft, and take someone with the first pick you’re sure will help you right now? I agree with that coach, whoever it is. It is torturous this year.”
calfoxwc
It is so tortuous, that Savage is now getting looks in the second round. That is after being more of a 4th round guy way earlier on. That's media hype on bigger names at bigger schools for ya. You can bet he's getting serious looks in this draft of qbs. Mehbe.... he doesn't make it to the Browns in the second? Crazier things have happened? Watch the video... and tell me who he reminds you of.... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/shutdown-corner/nfl-draft-under-the-microscope--pittsburgh-qb-tom-savage-234107710.html;_ylt=A0LEVvTnMlVTlEIAkJgPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTByMG04Z2o2BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkAw--
thenew23
And with the 8th pick in the draft, the Minnesota Vikings select... a quarterback!! Seriously, these guys will say so much BS to the media this time of the year. It's all strategy... What is he really saying?: "Really guys, we were so impressed Matt Cassel's 81 QB rating, and 11:9 TD to INT ration, and 60.2% comp. percentage from last year that we would gladly pass on Blake Bortles if he falls to us at 8" ... hmmm... Everything the guys actually doing the drafting are saying is just washed and repeated sh** the media spews every other day... Nothing new or interesting there... calfoxwc
Sure, he will need a year to sit back... but the top 4 teams looking for a qb... might very well want him in the second or third. Which means, a team like the Patriots could want him as heir apparent to Brady in the bottom of the second, and he wouldn't have a chance to make it to the Browns at the top of the third?. So, if the Browns wanted him in a big way.... he could be gone in the top of the second by the Texans or...? well, it beats talking about Manziel, for cryin out loud.... He isn't that mobile, but he's a lot faster than a Derek Anderson... or Mettenberger, or Weeden...... I really wish the stupid draft was here already. lol

Hunt Daddy
No Luck means no sure thing of a consistent NFL starter. Doesn't mean you can't find someone that will be better than him. Getting tired of the "There's no Luck in this draft" sentence. I love the guy, but Jesus he didn't change the game. No one knows how this will turn out. Could be in 30 years we're talking about the hall of fame with Teddy, Blake, Johnny, and Derek. Everyone thought the 1999 draft was something fantastic. Turns out it was shit. Just because someone isn't screaming "consistent starter with almost no downside" doesn't mean that someone doesn't have a chance to be really special. calfoxwc
I thought so. Pretty interesting. A stronger arm than the other qbs? And he doesn't look like a rock in the backfield like DA, and sees the field really nice, and actually has a nice touch on the ball far better than both DA and Weeden... Just interesting. The draft is a crapshoot with absolutely NO guarantees. In 20-30 years, we could forget all these guys, watch them enter the Hall, talk about their careers (good and/or bad).....who knows? I'm just trusting Farmer, Pettine & crew and their knowledge. Thankfully, they don't seem to be swayed by media hype. As a Fan, I'll support their decisions.
