Clevfan4life
Now normally this old shitspuke retread annoys the shit out of me, however.....in this case I agree. He did also show tape on Mack where he lined up as ILB and showed how he takes on guards then dives down on the runner. I like Mack more and more because of this. I heard some guy on 92 yesterday saying how Mack wouldn't be a good fit for the Browns cause it would destabilize the confidence of our current OLB's. Uhh bullshit......first off if you're not producing, well then guess what you'll be replaced on the roster by someone acquired off waivers or brought up from the practice squad if need be. So I'd be ok with them drafting Mack to play OLB.....but that's not what he should be always playing. We should move him around. With his pass rushing skills the guy could end up being the best blitzing ILB in the NFL.
miktoxic
i say there's a good chance we take mack at 4 unless they love carr that much. i know a lot of people love watkins (so do i) but you have to ask yourself what would benefit the team more at this juncture, especially when the draft is so deep at WR talent. i gotta believe with both farmer and pettine having bkgds in defense that they would not pass on either clowney or mack if they some how were there. now if he's there when we pick is another story. he might end up going higher than clowney or........ who effin knows anymore. BadNewsBrowns
We are in a nice spot at 4 and really can't go wrong unless they shock and piss everyone off and pick Carr which is a MKC rumor anyhow so it's bullshit. I just hope they follow up and play to their strengths with the 26 pick... if they go tackle get the guard at 26.. if they go QB get a WR at 26 if they go clowney/mack get a CB at 26. I like that line of thinking bro. If were going to excel at doing something as a football team well goddamnit lets actually get the guys to do the job. Only thing that would make me sick is a tackle ans guard being taken with both first rounders.... Dear god
DownSouthKC
Just saw a mock with us taking Mathews at 4, trading up with Miami to 19 for Manziel and taking Latimer (WR, Indiana) in the 2nd. I really like that 1st round but it had Kelvin Benjamin going two slots after Lattimer and if he is available there and we didn't take Watkins I'd be salty about that. An oline of Thomas, Mathews, Schwartz and Mack would be pretty dang nasty.
GuNNerGatSKi
I love me some K. Mack. I think Coach Pett's hybrid defense would be the IDEAL fit for K. Mack. I think in order to maximize Mack's abilities one must move him all over the front 7. ILB on obvious running downs, OLB standing up or with his hand in the dirt for passing downs, with a big dose of creativity mixed in there such as switching that around and blitzing him from the ILB position on third and long etc etc. The two players I'm am one hundred and ten percent sold on being absolute game breakers in the NFL are Clowney and Mack. I would be very happy with either one though it's pretty Mich a sure thing we don't even get the slightest wiff of being able to snatch Clowney. Will be interesting. I agree with you that in our scheme Mack could move all over the place. Eventually though I would like to see him move to the captains spot at ILB fulltime. Dansby is an awesome lb'er but he's 32....has 2-3 good to decent years left in him. During this time we need him to help coach up our lb'ers. Mack is the PROTOTYPE lb'er that the steelers are always hunting for. We need him. But we need him to learn from vets first. That's why I was furious with us letting DQ go cause he's one of the best scenario's you can draw up in the NFL in which to coach up a young player. Here's hoping Dansby is the same. Honestly, Mack is the pick...I know we need a qb but there's too many maybe's in this draft. Mack is not a maybe. Worst case scenario with him is that he's maybe not that smart to be able to become a Ray Lewis type of defensive captain who can read offense's like Manning reads defense's. THat's worst case....we'd still get a hell of a lot of years out of the guy as a raw physical specimen with perfect technique who's gonna blow up a lot of plays for us at ILB or at OLB. He will go to the pro bowl multiple times even if he's an idiot....which it doesn't look like he is. 100% for sure though that either Clowney or Mack are off the board before our pick....just not sure which one. If Mack goes before #4, than there's a debate on whether we take Clowney simply because we're already stacked at the positions he would play for us. Unless Pettine has ideas about running pure 4-3 looks in certain games.
Guest
I don't read anything that starts "Hoge Thinks" ... but I can tell you that Mike Pettine says he would outside for the Browns. So ... Zombo
DownSouthKC
I just saw a clip on ESPN where Hoge swhen asked 'So, Clowney is not a good football player?' responds "He is a very average football player, actually."
PoeticG
Mack would be great inside next to Dansby getting coached up to take the reigns of the defense in a year or two. He can't be worse than Robertson.

Maybe, for his career sake he should stick to being an OLB. why? he's actually built better for the ILB position. And his technique at run stopping from that position is flawless. Is he ready to be the defensive signal caller? Of course not. But he's an athletic freak who can play at any position in the LB'ing corp. I'm not saying he should never line up at OLB, but if we drafted him we should absolutely coach him up next to Dansby to be our future captain. Harry Buffalo
I like but not as a full time ILB. But I also don't think he will be used as a full time ILB. If we draft him we will see him at both ILB and OLB so that we can get the most weapons on the field at the same time. Our passing situation line with Mack would invoke him and Mingo at edge rushers with a combo of Kruger/Sheard/Winn at DT.

Clevfan4life
If he turns out to be even half as smart as Ray Lewis was, why wouldn't we make him the team captain and play him at ILB? He's more athletic now than Lewis was coming out of college. He can still rush the passer from the ILB spot. I like but not as a full time ILB. But I also don't think he will be used as a full time ILB. If we draft him we will see him at both ILB and OLB so that we can get the most weapons on the field at the same time.
