Now how many of the cuts make it to the 10-man PS???

Barton, the waiver-wire rookie O-lineman, stuck... In the four days he was around he must have confirmed some impression Farmer had of him.

Cuts to get to 53: RB Dion Lewis, LB Justin Staples, WR Nate Burleson, RB Chris Ogbonnaya, CB Leon McFadden, QB Connor Shaw, DB Josh Aubrey, DL Calvin Barnett, DL Jacobbi McDaniel, DL Justin Staples, OL Reid Fragel, OL Garrett Gilkey, OL Donald Hawkins, OL Alex Parsons, OL Abasi Salimu, TE/FB MarQueis Gray, TE Emmanuel Ogbuehi, WR Willie Snead

Fragel surprises me a bit. Hopefully we can keep Snead on the PS.

Dont they spend a month on waivers first?

Practice squad basics

Practice squad players ... practice with the team. They do not play in games.

Not all players are eligible to be signed to NFL practice squads (see above).

Practice squad players are paid per week and can be released at any point during the season.

Practice squad players are free to sign with other NFL teams, assuming they are signed to the 53-man active roster. A practice squad player cannot be signed to another practice squad unless he is first released.

A practice squad player can not sign with their team's upcoming opponent, unless they do so six days before the upcoming game or 10 days if their team is currently on a bye week.

If a practice squad player is signed to the active roster, they will receiver a minimum of three paychecks, even if they are released before spending three weeks with the team.

In order to be signed to a practice squad after being released, a player must first clear through waivers.

Some names jump out at me. WR Andrew Peacock from the Detroit Lions may make a good addition to the Browns roster, he had a decent preseason but nothing spectacular. I'm very suprised Lache Seastrunk got cut from the Redskins, he was a beast all preseason. I'm also suprised to see BenJarvus Green-Ellis got cut from the Bengals, but they do have decent depth at RB. I also noticed that Greg Little got cut from the Raiders. Sort of sad to see Zac Dysert got cut from the Broncos and Tajh Boyd is already cut from the Jets, was hoping they would make it in the NFL.

Hopefully Hawkins will step up and play lights-out for the Browns, otherwise it will be a long season. Cameron will be a good target until he starts getting double-teamed like he was last season. We'll see what Hoyer can do with this WR corps.

Will people count Wallace assists for or against the other team? Browns in big time trouble if he has to play any extensive time @ OT.

If you have tape of Wallace at LT give it a look... very different player.

Jets grabbed McFadden

Vikes picked up Marqueis Gray

We cut WR Johnson

  • Browns claimed G Karim Barton off waivers from the Eagles.
  • Browns claimed G Donald Hawkins off waivers from the Eagles.
  • Browns claimed OT Ryan Seymour off waivers from the 49ers.
  • Browns claimed G Caylin Hauptmann off waivers from the Seahawks.
  • Browns claimed RB Glenn Winston off waivers from the 49ers.
  • Browns claimed WR LaRon Byrd off waivers from the Cowboys.

Says a lot about our backup OL, not that we didn't already know that.
