Opal312 Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 I've been a Browns fan since birth and after 50 years I will now stop saying, "there's always next year". Can anyone please explain why the Browns didn't draft Mike Evans at #4 and a Q.B. At #26? They weren't planning on playing the rookie quarterback so why not draft Garapollo at 26 leaving plenty of time to get the worst cornerback in the draft. Gilbert is a bust and we now have Andrew Hawkins as our first string wide receiver. Ray Farmer and Petine will be job hunting next year. Let me do the draft! At least I know how!
WalterWhite Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 The trade down was the right move but the problem is the worthless players we get out of these trade downs... Phil Taylor, Brandon Weeden, and Justin Gilbert are not first round material.
DieHardBrownsFan Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 Petine and Farmer aren't going anywhere. If Haslam were to get rid of Petine he would have to coach the Browns himself.

First... pay attention to your elders, kid. Second, are you decrying the Hawkins that is 14th in the league in receiving yardage with 244 on 21 catches? The Hawkins who is our #2 WR behind Austin? (Who by the way has 14 catches for 115.) And you're wanting Evans??? Mike Evans??? The TB rookie that has 13 catches for 148? Not #4 overall Watkins (13 for 176 despite missing a game)? Or #20 Cooks (18 for 168)? Watkins and Cooks too short.. OK... How 'bout #28 overall Benjamin (16 for 263)? Let you run our draft? Ummmm... no. Not if you'd have taken Evans at #4... or #8. Welcome to the Browns Board...
dawgpound101 Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 to call him a bust after 3 games is ...ummm...not smart...I bet the Patriots are still really pissed off that they didnt trade or cut Tom Brady after his 8th week 3-4. or how about Troy Aikman 1-15 his first year. I bet Dallas still f'n heated they didn't cut him straight out...so yea lets judge our guys after a game or two or maybe three
WalterWhite Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 You're comparing Justin Gilbert to hall of fame QB's. Think about that.
dawgpound101 Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 You're comparing Justin Gilbert to hall of fame QB's. Think about that. umm...were they Hall of Famers their first year? Or were they losing straight out of the gate...which is my point . Do not write them off so soon.
miktoxic Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 walter is just a big fucking bitch right now. who pissed in your wheaties? 3 fricking games which one of the players you're screaming about has only played 2. trade manziel. with your thinking with the 6 plays we've seen of him he is a bust and bye bye. meanwhile you were sucking his cock for like 4 months. are you smoking dust or something?
ballpeen Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 I agree, it is pretty sorry that after 3 games some are calling players busts....it's crazy.
LogicIsForSquares Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 I hope that every person bitching about busts is a rich and successful billionaire who knew how to do everything at an expert level before ever having to try it. Just came out of the womb ready to ride a bike and shit in a toilet.
AU165 Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 CB's historically are not very good as rookies. There is a big difference defending one or two WR's a year with NFL talent compared to every game doing it. Guys like Leon Hall, Jonathan Joesph, even Patrick Peterson were not very good year one. I'd not worry too much this year, but if after next year you don't see improvment then you can worry a bit.
Kosar_For_President Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 What happened to our fans? Bunch of whiny bitches anymore. 3 games? WTF, it's not out of the ordinary for rookie cornerbacks to struggle.
TexasAg1969 Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 Lose a close game because of a blocked fg and suddenly it's Alice in Wonderland ("Off with their heads!!"). Now if West hadn't moved on Johnny's 37 yd. gain and if the fg was made would we be saying, "Pettine is King of the World!!" ? Yeah! So we lost a close one. Who doesn't in the NFL? Pussies.
Tour2ma Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 walter is just a big fucking bitch right now. He had a good couple weeks between the end of his JM affair and 1st half of our opener. Or was it between opener's halftime and game 3's halftime? Pussies. Clearly... posting here has affected you...
Soju Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 i agree with the OP.. Justin Gilbert is 6th round material, maybe 7th.
Osiris Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 If the GMs of their respective teams thought like some of you Browns "fans" did, the following players would've been considered busts in their first year and been cut/traded: Robert Mathis: 3 sacks in his first year Robert Quinn: 5 sacks in his first year Greg Hardy: 3 sacks in his first year Mario Williams: 4.5 sacks in his first year Cameron Jordan: 1 sack in his first year Brent Grimes: 1 int, 6 PD in first two years. Tim Jennings: 0 int, 3 PD in first two years. So let's check the OMG-the-sky-is-falling attitude for a bit.
Westside Steve Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 That's why I hate drafting in the top 10. You always expect that guy to be a superstar and when he's not we tend to freak out. Pick somebody at 25 and there's not as much pressure. I'd rather trade a top 10 pick for 3 second round trips to the well. WSS

Mr. Make-Believe Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 Um... it's perfectly normal that a rookie CB struggles out of the gate. Three games and you're calling him a bust? Ridiculous.
MasterDog Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 The issue isn't Gilbert, it was Manziel. We could had gotten a number of other solid players but we choose to take a QB that will be nothing but a gimmick show this season.
DieHardBrownsFan Posted September 24, 2014 Report Posted September 24, 2014 i agree with the OP.. Justin Gilbert is 6th round material, maybe 7th. There you go. Soju is back. Someone must have hacked his account.

I'd not worry too much this year, but if after next year you don't see improvment then you can worry a bit.The problem is his game is full of holes. It's not a few mechanical errors, it's everything. He can't tackle, is NOT physical, and would rather take a receiver out and get the pass interference than make a play on the ball.
JorvorskieLaneLover Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 umm...were they Hall of Famers their first year? Or were they losing straight out of the gate...which is my point . Do not write them off so soon. By that logic should we give colt McCoy another chance? Brandon weeden? Maybe Trent Richardson? We can't write them off because they might be in the HOF one day.
Opal312 Posted September 25, 2014 Author Report Posted September 25, 2014 there were better cornerbacks in the 2014 draft than Justin Gilbert. Look what Kyle Fuller is doing in Chicago! I think the Browns rushed their decision when they should have been planning for the present as well as the future. A stud receiver for Brian Hoyer and a Quarterback at #26. Year after year the Browns waste their first round pick and I have grown up, became a mother and now a GRANDMOTHERS without a Super Bowl appearance. Can you say; Tim Couch, Courtney Brown, Barkevious Mingo, and Brandon Weeden!
WalterWhite Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 What makes me want to vomit is how we continually trade down and those trade downs are meaningless when you get nothing in return. Atlanta absolutely HOSED us because all we got was FATASS Phil Taylor and a ginger hack QB and they have Julio Jones. Now, Buffalo will reap the benefits of Sammy Watkins when him or Mack could have been ours. Instead, we outsmart ourselves and trade down to get Justin GilBURNT and whatever bonafide bust we get next year. 2011 - Phil Taylor over JJ Watt and Julio Jones 2012 - Trent Richardson and Brandon fucking Weeden 2013 - Mingo 2014 - Gilburnt over Watkins, Mack, Mathews, etc. and Manziel who is unknown at this point. That's 6 1st round picks in 4 years and not a single one of them are good. That's pitiful.

It's the same crap for us every year.
Alkid3 Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 A bust after 3 games. He's not even starting. The shit i read on this board is amazing.
WalterWhite Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 A bust after 3 games. He's not even starting. The shit i read on this board is amazing. All the rookie CB's are playing up to speed except Gilbert. He looks completely lost. Sorry but he's looking like another Mingo (a guy we took for the measureables and not a football player)

Yea well Mike Evans is stuck on a bad team with no quarterback. We could have had him or Watkins and a quarterback at #26 then later a corner. You homies don't get it. That's why the Browns will never win anything. Keep buying tickets and maybe your great great great grandkids will have better luck
