The Cysko Kid
Says he's "Just a number to them" and when asked if he would have signed knowing about the baby backs "I don't want to talk about it" Don't think he'll be around for long. bbedward
I get it, guy wants to play and the biggest reason he signed here was because he wanted to play more, and at the time we didn't have any RBs. I like Tate, he was very excited to be in Cleveland. But what can you do, gotta go with the hot hands.
Mark O
Play better and run harder and he'll probably carry the ball more.
upper lip
The "just a number to them" falls under greg little saying "I did not get along with Pettine,Pettine doesn't talk with any of his players. Like you will walk past him in the hallway and he won't even speak to you. To have that type of (approach) for a coach is kind of odd. I can't go out and say I'm going to lay it on the line for a guy who won't even speak to me if we were the only two people in the hallway. " This is not good if the players feel like they are being treated as chess pieces instead of people. Coaches need to have personal relationships with their players IMO. Or at least show them the respect as people they deserve. I understand the no bullshit mentality and not worrying about stroking everyone's ego, but still

Greg Little sucks and has zero creditability. Tate is butt hurt because he's being outplayed by a couple of rookies. I remember reading after the draft that several NFL scouts were saying that West would be getting the majority of the carries by mid season and it looks like that is exactly what's happening. gftChris
So...Ben Tate for a 2nd rounder in May?
Clevfan4life
So...Ben Tate for a 2nd rounder in May? Not sure about that yet. Are we really happy going next year with Crowell and West? What I was hoping for is that either Crowell or West would stand out so far from the other that next year it would be Tate and one of those guys. But as it stands, both those guys are running their balls off. Tate isn't running bad either. We've got 3 guys on the roster right now that all could be our feature. We can't keep all 3 though, so this sucks. I hate to say it but if things keep as they are, if someone were to offer something really good for Tate....a high 2nd round pick or even a low 1st round..... Osiris
So...Ben Tate for a 2nd rounder in May? His contract is only 2 years. Nobody would trade for him, and definitely not a 2nd rounder. He will probably walk in FA. Our other two RBs are proof that it is easy to find a good RB at much less cost than a early round draft pick. We'd be lucky to get a 4th round pick for him given these details. The Gipper
I agree with MarkO. Play better and you will get your reps. I suggest that the Browns may give him his chance this week against his old team. If he has the kohones to do it he can both show up his old team for letting him go and his new team for not giving him the chances he thinks he deserves. Run his ass ragged through the middle of the second quarter. If he is gaining 1.5 ypc the way he has lately all the Browns coaches have to do is to show him that stat. But, he shouldn't be that discontented. When you lose 2 games to injuries what should he expect. Also....he IS getting more chances with the Browns than he ever did with the Texans. In his 3 years with them he averaged 11.66, 5.9, and 12.92 carries per game. With the Browns he is getting 14.85 carries per game. With the Texans he averaged 5.4, 4.3 and 4.3 yards per carries. With the Browns he is averaging 3.3 ypc. A full yard off his production with them. Another reason he shouldn't complain: with the Browns he has now matched his career high for TDs in a season. He has 4. He never scored more than 4 TDs in a season in his time in Houston. As I see it, he is getting more than his share of chances....given that his per carry production is way down. Hit the holes, gain the yards, score the TDs, shut the fuck up.

I am not the one that brought that up. Ask Cysco Kid. My link shows that stat wise he is getting more opportunity here.....opportunity that he may not be taking advantage of. Manzier
Mary Kay Crabbot AGAIN?!?!!!! Holy crap she keeps doing this--making up controversy, where it doesn't have to me. First it was the whole Brian Hoyer wont play with Manziel. A Non story that Hoyer shrugged off ands said was a distraction Then it was JFF's frustration and Pettine "sensing" it. Another load of crap that JFF shrugged right off as untrue And, now, she's stirring the pot with Tate. Read his words, He doesn't want to have the discussion. He's TRYING to be a team player and she's picking at it. She is such a scab reporter. The Browns shouldn't even let her in the room.

miktoxic
i don't know what team has a 'featured' RB that is killing it other that dallas (yeah, i know). all the #1 fantasy picks for RBs are just not what they were years ago, hence the change in offensive schemes. tate should be happy that he's getting carries at all. just because a player bitches does not mean you change your game plan. want to be a diva you shoulda played WR. DownSouthKC
At least his career will last a little longer or his brain is less likely to be a jumbled mess in 10 years. Manzier
Thats my point. Its the third negative story to come out recently, basically starting crap because our guys just want to play. What the hell are they supposed to say when asked????? mk Story #1 - Brian Hoyer prefers to sign with a team AND actually start. (Wow. trouble maker, he is) mk Story #2 - Johnny Manziel is frustrated as second string. (Really???!!! Another "anti team" guy just thinking about himself) mk Story #3 - Ben Tate. The FA who signed here, just so he could get a chance to start. And, now, he says he'd prefer to play. (who would have thunk it. yet another HUGE story) Why do we KEEP signing guys who want and expect to play??? Baffles me.
LogicIsForSquares
Play better and you get the reps. It is abundantly clear that Pettine is results driven (ex: Crowell getting his carries restricted leading up to Bengals game). You play well, he gives you carries. At this point, Tate could go and I think the Browns would be just fine.

Clevfan4life
seriously. What will it take to get rid of her? I know right. Who's fucking salad is the bitch tossing at the dealer? It can't just be blowjobs or sex or anything more or less vanilla...cause she's that annoying and the fanbase hates her. The "ONLY" way she has been able to hold on to her job this long is cause she's doing something really really really dirty for someone.
Ibleedbrown
Poor gal's probably a by product of her environment. Reporting on a team that hasn't done anything in so long that she has had to scratch and claw for shit to report about and get people talking. Not only do we need to change the culture of the Browns, we need to change the culture of Mary Kay. I say we make her Korean.
