calfoxwc
Sad news for a guy so highly rated. But will he never have that problem again? Or, be another Josh Gordon - who says one thing, and continually never gets around to getting himself straightened out? Would you still draft him if he were on your sights before? Or, draft another player whose skills are very similar? http://www.omaha.com/huskers/randy-gregory-failed-drug-test-at-nfl-combine-had-significant/article_c9436bce-d36d-11e4-afdb-1755c478db72.html
Clevfan4life
On the one hand you want to look at it as a red flag cause if you can't put the joint down for the combine than, you know...might be a problem. On the other hand, these kids are told this combine is the most significant event of your natural lfe..this is your ticket to not being a field ngr...the stress must be quite profound. Probably has family and friends basically saying we're counting on you to take care of us. Some of these kids are put in awful situations from the get go. Mudfly
eh....I wouldn't worry much....definitely wouldn't 'assume" a JG type of scenario..... Id say almost ALL young players have smoked some weed and drank their share.....but there are very few that cant stop...... We're just lucky to have the unique ones..... Tour2ma
First, Gordon has nothing to do with any decision I'd make. I wasn't interested in Gregory to begin with... but had I been, then sure, spending an top-ten pick on a player with a failed test already under his belt would give me pause. That said his quotes in the article hit all the right notes and I could always have him take more psychological tests to access any predilection towards dependency. thenew23
I could always have him take more psychological tests to access any predilection towards dependency. Those don't really exist... And, I wouldn't have him in the 1st round on the Browns draft board anyway b/c he's too small for us and I've thought he was bust material, but this just adds to my concerns. Much like I thought of Manziel last year, I'd risk a 3rd rounder on his athleticism but nothing higher...
miktoxic
man, nowadays, why even touch this dude when there is someone just as talented one rung below that you DON"T have to worry about? it's like going out the night before your biggest job promotion interview and getting tanked and showing up late, and still drunk. GTFO!
broganreynik
Yeah, there's really no way I'd want him. He really had some motivation issues while here at Nebraska, and some of the beat writers have even questioned if he wants to play football. calfoxwc
I think i might be fair to say that if a player loves the game, he wouldn't do stupid stuff to inhibit his success in football. But then again, I think JF loves the game, he just had problems to deal with. But like Brogan posted, he had some motivational problems at Nebraska, and that's a another bit of evidence to support the claim he isn't all that into being a -football player-
miktoxic
i say if you are ray farmer and have been dealt the cards you have been dealt (in JF's case...his own hands) i wouldn't touch anyone with any character/drug/alcohol issues or questions. once bitten, twice shy. Opal312
I just read he failed a drug test twice in 2014. The Browns weren't going after him anyway. If you read the article on ESPN, he smoked a lot of weed.
Mudfly
Im not 100% certain, but now that I think about it...I strongly believe that this will put him into Stage 1 of the NFL drug program from day one.... And Id consider him to have his first "strike" .....
RoyceRolls
The shitty part is that no one ahead of the Browns will pick him now, I only liked him as a filler to push the Sheltons and Rays down the board.
LondonBrown
He better be off our board completely now and will be if they have learned anything from last year.

Yeep. This pretty much means we lose out on one of the prospects we were hoping would fall in the draft.

LogicIsForSquares
If he was there in the second would you take him? After dealing with Gordon's bullshit and Johnny's rehab, no fucking way. I would let someone else roll the dice on him.

gumby73
Will he still be on the board at 19 after DT Shelton or Brown at 12? Tough to pass up if Peat and Harold on the board. Interesting sucks for us usually...
wargograw
Von Miller's got a hell of a weed issue. In the second I'd definitely take him. Maybe even at 19.
Manzier
If he's already stage 1 in the drug program, then I dont take him at all. 1 slip-up and he's suspended. We got Josh Gordon in the second round for the same reasons. How'd that steal of a deal turn out?

Flugel
Sad news for a guy so highly rated. But will he never have that problem again? Or, be another Josh Gordon - who says one thing, and continually never gets around to getting himself straightened out? Would you still draft him if he were on your sights before? Or, draft another player whose skills are very similar? http://www.omaha.com/huskers/randy-gregory-failed-drug-test-at-nfl-combine-had-significant/article_c9436bce-d36d-11e4-afdb-1755c478db72.html One easy solution here. Become a Steeler and he'll miraculously never have dirty urine again regardless of what he Jerry Garcias moving forward. If Josh Gordon was a Rooney employee, the Pittsburgh Gay-zette would Walt Disney that story into a miraculous and heart-warming about-face with the creativity of a Stephen King. Pitt media already pulled off making a hero out of James Harrison for taking all the fine money fans contributed and giving it to the battered women's shelter/support group his wife continued to need. That's either some really good editing erasing the part in bold or they just had the perfect customer base that didn't think it was any big deal. Apparently, Ray Rice wasn't the first dirt bag Roger Goodfella wanted to pardon. My guess is a street smart Ratbird Owner Bi-shootbreath had back pocket knowledge of James Harrison's roid rages at home ready to bully Roger with. He had something on Roger Goodfella especially when Roger's is the only person on the planet that hasn't seen the video of Ray knocking out his wife allegedly. But take a guess what OWNER would be ready to support Roger after all that shook out and his integrity was publicly shotso? Rooney. With the piece of trash running the league today - the crimes aren't ever going to matter as much as who the person committing them works for. Does Pittsburgh win their opener against without their version of Cheech and Chong running the football on us in the first half? On top of that, Pouncey was arrested in August just like Blount while Bell was dumb enough to tell media he smoked weed. Now that it would benefit Rooney to rest Bell early on in 2015 following the injury that ended his 2014 season, Pitt's had enough time to sign a former 1st round RB DeAngelo Williams. How many other teams get a year to find a solution to a starter that will be suspended?
