Richiswhere
Missed only 1 defensive snap against the Rams yet played only 1 defensive snap against the Cardinals.
Unsympathetic
If he practiced as the backup nickelback, K'Waun had a great game there, and so he wasn't needed "at nickelback." I can't believe the coaches wouldn't see him as a better CB than Bademosi for 43 snaps, though.
letsgojackets
I have no idea whats going on anymore with this team. Duke Johnson is barely used.
Mudfly
I have no idea whats going on anymore with this team. Duke Johnson is barely used. Ha!....not using him last week REALLY pissed me off... He had those 2 big plays in the first quarter....then they never went back to him the rest of the game...... maybe he got to sit as a reward for being so good in the first qtr????.....thats the only thing I can figure... LondonBrown
The Duke business is crazy, he was great in Baltimore the week after his long TD in San Diego.
bbedward
We need a consistent #1 RB and it needs to be Johnson. Rotate the others but we need a #1 consistently. We have a different #1 every drive it seems like.

Opal312
What about all the injuries this week? Browns Website lists: Defensive backs Joe Haden (concussion), Donte Whitner (concussion) and Jordan Poyer (shoulder); wide receivers Brian Hartline (concussion) and Andrew Hawkins (concussion) and quarterback Josh McCown (shoulder/ribs) have been declared out for Cleveland’s primetime matchup at Cincinnati. Why would they not play Gilbert as a cornerback? None of this makes sense to me? Duke Johnson is no smaller than Darren Sproles and Sproles was great when he was young. It seems like they give up to early on the run game. Pettine is not cut out for this. He has no feel for the game or the players. He's a stiff! calfoxwc
There is no doghouse, imho. It's a matter of arrogant choices by Oneil, on switching personnel right and left, because of perceptions about which one would be better suited... He's turned the defense into musical chairs. based on what, who knows. Height? weight? 40 time? Oneil is reminding me of Phil Savage... that is very, very bad. nickers
Both Wilbert Montgomery and Jim O'Neil need to go... They suck as far as position coaches go.
gftChris
As I recall, Bademosi was part of some special packages on D for that game, where Desir wasn't, so they figured it was easier to get Bademosi in there full time, per Pett. I'm not sure this is a good excuse - presumably the plays don 't differ *that* much from week to week and Desir, who had played in relief of haden the week or two before, would have been well prepared? Potentially this is an insight in to why the D has been struggling - overly specialised game plans from week to week that don't allow the players to get comfortable in any of them? I think you're right, maybe it could work elsewhere but it doesn't with these players. We need to go back to basics.
Tour2ma
I don't think Johnson will hold up as an every down back. He won't, but more to the point is he is not a good every-down back... use him on 3rds and in passing situations.
Mudfly
... use him on 3rds and in passing situations. Or.....use him in the first quarter.....then sit him for no reason....(consistency is important)......

My theory has been that the other teams "expect" us to use our best players, so Pettine tries to keep em off balance by doing the opposite....... Duke doing great? SURPRISE! here's Turbin...... Shelton gets a sack? SURPRISE! heres John Hughes...... Desir does great filling in for Haden? SURPRISE! We're starting Bademosi..... We WILL stop the run. SURPRISE!....we lied.....
