This is going to pass with flying colors, it seems like the other one that was supposed to legalize both recreational and medical doesn't have enough financial backing - but hopefully that one gets on the ballot too.

Once medical is passed it's a foot in the door and only a short while until recreational is passed. I gave up the weed a long time ago but I don't have any problem with people smoking it to relax in the comfort of their own homes.

I never really smoked weed just because I don't care for it, but I'd rather see someone with joint/back/neck (Etc.) pain smoke a joint instead of getting pumped up with narcotics - or someone with epilepsy use it rather than get pumped up with benzos, which have withdrawal symptoms on par with heroin.

it's amazing how one drug, alcohol, makes you incoherent and useless but is legal. While another drug makes you instrospective and enhances your creativity....is illegal. It's like anything in this world that makes you stop and look at things slowly and objectively is the devil fuckin with you.

Could be. But until recreational is passed the doctors will be writing scripts without any medical requirement at a rate that will make the old speed and oxy cotton doctors look like pikers.

Yeah well I'm sure any doctor worth his salt would rather a patient be a pothead than an opiate addict

FWIW, the state medical board brings the hammer down when they find pill mills.

I have no doubt that. I'm just wondering if its going to be a rubber stamp to get a bag of weed.

So Steve, you're a musician. If Ohio does end up legalizing the wacky tabacky, would you bust out the Sunday best in celebration?

Nah.

First I never enjoyed the bus and I don't use the stuff.

Second otherwise I have nothing against it if somebody can afford to lay around the shanty and put a good buzz on. (and I don't have to pay for their welfare checks)

Third, I much prefer that use alcohol come to the places I play to drink it.

But as I've said before people who are really into pot usually seem a little, well, stupid.

Ohio Marijuana Policy Project Releases Ballot Proposal for November 2016 Election:

http://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2016/03/01/ohio-medical-marijuana-plan-15-large-grow-sites.html

Details of the proposal:

  • Ballot language is currently for medical marijuana patients only, and does not include recreational use. Patients would be able to grow up to 6 plants for personal use without a license.
  • Large scale (up to 25,000-square-foot) grow sites in the state to provide the lions share of product to be sold in dispensaries; places a cap of 15 such sites in state, and these growers aren't preselected (eliminates monopoly element from last year's failed ballot issue).
  • $500,000 for large scale cultivation license; proceeds from license fees would be used to subsidize patient ID cards and other business licenses, as well as administration. $5,000 for "medium" scale (up to 5,000-square foot grow site) cultivation license. No limit on smaller (< 5,000-square feet) cultivation licenses.
  • Forms a Medical Marijuana Control Division which would accept applications for large growers, manufacturers and testing facilities starting in August 2017, and retail dispensaries in February 2018.
  • Local governments would be able to ban or limit medical marijuana businesses in their area, but allows the option for local voters to overturn potential bans on future local ballot issues.

The group needs 305,591 signatures by July 6 to qualify for the November ballot.

I can't see why anyone would vote against this?

If you, given your general 'drugs are bad' attitude, are in favour of this, I can't see how anyone is against it, unless they stand to lose millions.

Agreed. This proposal seems to be more well-thought out and more detailed than last year's proposal.

I wonder if my sleep apnea would qualify as a preexisting condition?

Anxiety maybe. "I'm really stressed, I could use a joint"

Is there specific illnesses that this can be prescribed for, or is it up to the individual physician?

Maybe it's FDA-related.
