This is probably the single-biggest issue anybody can vote on this year. In addition to creating several more Detroits (by creating even bigger deficits with the TPP countries) - the TPP would also police the internet and hinder net neutrality + take away internet freedom. Next POTUS needs to stop it, and they also need to get the wheels rolling on repealing NAFTA. Candidates who support the TPP (Their big donors are big proponents of it, too): - Ted Cruz (Gave Obama fast track authority, receives more special interest money than anybody except Clinton) - Marco Rubio (Funded by George Soros) - John Kasich (Funded by George Soros) - Hillary Clinton (Called it the "gold standard", political pandering has taken her away from it - but change 1 line and she won't stop it) Candidates who are against the TPP - Donald Trump (Also against NAFTA, has spoken out in public against bad trade deals since the 80s) - Bernie Sanders (Also against NAFTA, socialists are generally always against free trade) http://www.exposethetpp.org/ We have to fix the trade deficits, but the first step is stopping these bad blanket deals.
OldBrownsFan Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Ted Cruz Vows to Vote Against TPP Trade Deal in Iowa GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said that he would vote against the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal between the United States and 11 other countries on Friday while campaigning in Iowa. According to the Des Moines Register, Cruz said he is “deeply concerned” with the trade pact. “While Cruz said he supports free trade, he believes the Trans-Pacific Partnership would undermine U.S. immigration laws and the nation’s sovereignty,” reported the Des Moines Register. “There are a number of Republicans on that (debate) stage who support TPP, who support (the Trade Promotion Authority),” Cruz stated. “I voted against TPA and I intend to vote against TPP.” http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/11/21/ted-cruz-vows-vote-tpp-trade-deal-iowa/
bbedward Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Ted Cruz voted for TPA before he voted against it. He changed his vote supposedly on a couple clauses that don't even matter. He's a lying, pandering fraud who will not stop the TPP.
OldBrownsFan Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 He voted against it though right? And he said he will vote against TPP so you are wrong when you say Cruz supports TPP.
bbedward Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 He voted against it though right? And he said he will vote against TPP so you are wrong when you say Cruz supports TPP. No idea how you can believe Cruz will tear up the TPP. At best he'd cut a couple of provisions that don't matter and then it'll pass no problem. Same with Clinton. Trump/Sanders actually want to tear it up - and repeal NAFTA. Cruz has flopped on all the issues to hop on the Trump train.
VaporTrail Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Does this mean the AFL-CIO will endorse Trump?
calfoxwc Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 edw... you lost on that. Making stuff up about your political hatefests is bs.

MLD Woody Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 You disagreed with him on something at some point Therefore you are a liberal that worships Obama
Unsympathetic Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 1] No idea how you can believe Cruz will tear up the TPP. At best he'd cut a couple of provisions that don't matter and then it'll pass no problem. Same with Clinton. TPP isn't passing with Clinton because of Congressional obstructionism, period - doesn't matter what the policy includes. As for Cruz, who knows - he may receive the same level of obstructionism. 2] Trump has said repeatedly that he wants to enact lots of tariffs. THAT will drop jobs more than TPP. Step 1 to eliminating offshoring job loss [if that's the actual focus of this thread] is to cut the ability of companies to undercut American labor via the H-1b or L-1 visas. But, hey, that's going to involve lobbying congressional offices and may take a long period of effort, so.. Nah, just keep blaming everything on the TPP!
bbedward Posted March 11, 2016 Author Report Posted March 11, 2016 It is passing with Clinton, it has bipartisan support already with Obama.
Unsympathetic Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 If that's what you actually believe.. then what's your explanation for why it hasn't already passed?
calfoxwc Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 He doesn't believe it, he's just dishonestly emotionally knee jerking.
bbedward Posted March 11, 2016 Author Report Posted March 11, 2016 If that's what you actually believe.. then what's your explanation for why it hasn't already passed? It will pass, the Senate cannot filibuster it because of FTA. It's solely on the next president to can it or pass it
Westside Steve Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Not to step off the reservation but I really don't have a problem with any of the free trade agreements. WSS
