truth is, a LOT of Americans across the political spectrum have said the same

things that Trump is saying.

Finally, someone running for pres since Reagan that says the truth about stuff.

Trump told her to lose weight in 1996 hugely relevant.

She was the getaway driver when her boyfriend murdered somebody and threatened to kill a judge in 1998 - it was almost 20 years ago! What difference, at this point, does it make?

The whole relationship with a mexican drug lord thing was in 2008 though.

The average American, in the end, is not going to say, "I'm so offended by something which happened 20 years ago in a beauty pageant that boy, that really turns me off." And as they learn that the whole thing was a fraud, it was all a setup by the Clinton campaign and, as you point out, by the elite news media, I think they become even less likely to agree to this and I think the end result in the end will be it's a diversion and we'll go on to the big issues where Trump is winning on every single one of them. Newt Gingrich

To be fair her line of work required her to look good and she had a contractual obligation to maintain a certain weight

Clinton had the whole thing setup to have the media talk about it after the debate. The girl tweeted right before the debate about her citizenship. They probably should have vetted her better though

The FOX panel hits on some truth here on Trump. Trump gets baited into arguments that only hurt him even when defending himself and put him on the defense. He went up in the polls by staying on message with policy issues so the democratic strategy is to get him in the weeds about issues like this gal who he said was fat.

Trump should focus on the controversial things Clinton said in the debates such as her basically saying we are all biased. The MSM will not bring this up so Trump has to...when they ask him about his fat comments about Miss Universe he needs to spend about 10 seconds with a quick prepared statement then turn it around on Clinton and her problems.

Here's pretty much how I feel about it (and many other Republicans do too):

Many Republicans seemed to agree with Ms. Palmieri, expressing frustration and puzzlement that, with 40 days left before the election, their party’s nominee had allowed his fight with Ms. Machado to dominate the news cycle.

“It makes no sense,” Frank Luntz, a G.O.P. strategist said. He said that focus groups that he had conducted had shown that Mr. Trump should be hammering Mrs. Clinton on issues like the national debt and the Islamic State.

“Instead, he’s in a fight with a beauty queen,” Mr. Luntz said.

Trump is a spoiled 70 year old brat basically. He doesn't like being challenged. But he is still better then Hillary.

Frustrating to watch Trump do exactly what he should not be doing. If he really feels the need to go after the former Miss Universe he could have his surrogates do it (and himself be seen as being above the fray). But he doesn't do it and instead goes on 3, 4, and 5 AM twitter rants which the MSM is using against him and goes back to his temperament issues.

Does Trump really want to win this race or not?

Here's my take on it. I don't think wasting time on Miss America is a good idea. That being said, since Hillary attacked him on this, she opens herself up to criticisms about Bill's womanizing. I think that Trump would have been best off by hitting this topic in the first debate, but who knows, he's the underdog once again, maybe he comes out swinging and pulls no punches next time (I think this is what he needs to do). I don't particularly buy into Scott Adams' latest election prediction that says Hillary won the debate while Trump won the election, but he's been absolutely spot on with his election predictions over the past year and a half.
