It was a figure of speech similar to saying "don't gum up the works" by electing a socialist. Another similar figure of speech would be "throwing a monkey wrench into the works" but that may be racist now too per the lefty's. The left will take a nothing burger and make it into a whopper. If it isnt thinly veiled racial dog whistling, its still incredibly stupid enough to warrant his complete and permnent removal from public service.
