Yet seemingly every day on social media l would run across a post with the caption, “where is the outrage?!?” Invariably it would be an instance of a black person harming a white person, or some other awful thing that would piss most anyone off. But the person posting it was somehow under the impression that not enough people were pissed off about it, so they were actively seeking other pissed off people to revel in each others pissed offedness. That’s wierd as fuck if you think about it. Seeking comfort in knowing what pisses you off also pisses other people off. Manufactured indeed, and we allow ourselves to do it to each other. It’s one of my theories on why 2020 was such a drag. We spent too much focus on the stuff we dislike instead of the stuff that brings us joy. Let’s not fall into that trap again.
