I saw Gio in the baseball highlights yesterday.  Gio was a tough cut, great glove but inconsistent hitter.

Well I had an early morning doctor's appointment came home and fell asleep about 1 pm and missed the entire game.   I'm now 34-1.  

Oh CIN 4 CLE 2 final.  I can't believe that the Guardians got swept by the 9-25 Reds.  Oh well......

Terry Francona will miss Friday’s series opener against the Tigers due to a minor medical procedure. DeMarlo Hale will manage in Francona’s absence. Francona is expected to return to the team on Saturday.

José Ramírez was getting imaging on his right shin after Thursday’s 4-2 loss. The Guardians will have more information on his status Friday. After fouling a ball directly off the shin in the eighth inning of the game, Ramírez opted to finish the at-bat and ripped an RBI single to right. He was immediately replaced by a pinch-runner. Francona was impressed by Ramírez’s ability to drive in the run despite being in obvious pain. “It shows he’s not only really good,” said Francona, “but also really tough.” -- Anthony Castrovince

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The threat of incoming inclement weather postponed another home game for the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday -- their sixth such postponement this season at Progressive Field.

“And we’re in May,” Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said after the announcement.

 

More than three hours before the scheduled 6:10 p.m. first pitch against the Detroit Tigers, Saturday’s game was called off with thunderstorms in the forecast. The game has been rescheduled for 7:10 p.m. on July 14, a mutual off day for both clubs. The Guardians and Tigers will play a four-game series from July 14-17 in Cleveland.

Every once in awhile I like to check out where this young team is in the scope of things. 

About as expected,  getting 6 rainouts at home has not helped the rhythm of the hitting.  Cleveland last in games played in MLB. Patience.  Start of May 23.

Tonight they said that the Guardians are the youngest in MLB  plus younger than any AAA team,  that's amazing.  Not bad for an 18-20 team.   Thank goodness for Tito Franconia.

...... CLE 8-3 final. Pretty good clean game.  Still the youngest team in MLB by 2 years to PIT.

Just a check of things after Game 45 (27.8% complete) this young team is hanging in there with less than 3/4 of the season left.

I'm enjoying watching this is very much a young team that is learning to play and win.  It might be the formation of a good MLB team we'll see on that.
