Gumby ^ ^ ^ ^  That would work,  especially when there is only one game you really want to watch.

Canton I've never tried Reddit.

How's it working for ya?

Lil dodgy here.. buffering.. dropped out twice..

You?

Didn't buffer, but several times picture wasn't close to 1080p.... FWIW, I've had ZERO problems streaming LOTR "Rings of Power", and the video has been 100% top notch there.  Not a fan of streaming in general.. Switching back and forth between streaming and Direct is a royal pain.. One of my Direct mini clients is acting mighty smarmy, and I've had to reboot it several times switching back and forth.  :)  Obvious Amazon went all out to get a quality NFL presentation.   We've had Prime for years, and we sort of abuse it getting free delivery on $10 buck (or less) items.

Regarding the game.... Herbert and Mahomes make Brisket look like a a D III quarterback by comparison.

I stream sports all the time, it was fine. Good game too.

I wonder how it effects older people that may not have a smart TV or know how to use it, and Sports Bars that may not be set up for streaming. Everyone's just gotta keep moving forward.

I watched it, great game even though I'm kind of anti-Thursday (the quality of the games isn't always very good IMHO).

Chargers ran out of gas I think, and Mahomes is still fantastic. Chargers D looks improved as well.

Not so much for the house, I have Prime.  Does anybody know how it works for local broadcast?  I will be up for the Steelers game and will have one who won't be going to the game. Will they be able to watch a local broadcast of the game in the hotel without finding a place that has Prime?  I know the Marriott doesn't have Prime on it's channel line-up.

It’s my understanding that the NFL will allow the local broadcasting of Thursday night games.

However, the local broadcast is restricted to the tv markets of the 2 teams playing that night.

I believe that is true,  here is some more TNF information including Week 1 and others.

Thursday night gamesEdit

Since 2012, a Thursday night game went into effect during every week of the season with the exception of the final week. Each game is aired on the NFL Network (prior to 2021) Amazon (2022 and on), with the exceptions of the Week 1 NFL Kickoff and Thanksgiving Day games, which are aired on NBC.

The season-kickoff game for the 2012 season was moved up a day — to a Wednesday, in order to avoid conflict with President Barack Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention. Since the NFL tries to avoid scheduling Thursday night games during the season which would require the visiting team to travel more than one time zone (excluding the Week 1 Kickoff),[46] the five teams in the Pacific Time Zone — the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks — would have more limited scheduling options in years that the AFC West and NFC West divisions don't face each other in interconference play. There have been some notable exceptions: the Kansas City Chiefs, who are based in the Central Time Zone, have played both the Chargers and Raiders on Thursdays; the Rams, who were based in St. Louis until 2015, played against the 49ers in 2013. Since TNF started in 2012, the Dallas Cowboys of the Central Time Zone have occasionally hosted clubs from the Pacific Time Zone on Thanksgiving Day: Dallas hosted the Oakland Raiders in 2013, the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017, and hosted the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021. The Detroit Lions, of the Eastern Time Zone, have not hosted a Mountain or Pacific Time Zone team during this time. Each year since 2014, the Thursday Night game the week after Thanksgiving has featured two teams that played on Thanksgiving, effectively giving both teams a full week of practice rather than the short week that most teams have for a Thursday Night game.

In 2014, CBS had simulcast Thursday night games between Weeks 2–8 and televised one of two Saturday games in Week 16,[47] and each Thursday night game was an intra-division game, except for the Packers–Seahawks Week 1 NBC kickoff and the Cowboys–Bears game in Week 14. The two Saturday games in Week 16 — EaglesRedskins and Chargers–49ers — aired beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET. The 4:30 p.m. ET game was televised by the NFL Network, while the other began shortly after 8:00 p.m. ET, and aired on CBS.

From more, tales of ya can't make this 💩 up..

The Chargers doctor caring for Justin Herbert’s rib injury is being sued by former Browns/Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor, who is seeking at least $5 million after suffering a punctured lung in 2020, according to copies of the original lawsuit obtained by ESPN.

Yep - it's on local tv - we don't get the NFL channel - so, great move. Although, we are so busy, we record the games and watch them after the fact. Can fast forward through the commercials and halftime.

I believe most commercial venues do. We were in a Cody's Steakhouse Thurs night before the game and the bartender buddy of mine told me that most bars/restaurants had prime so I'm sure casinos would as well.

The way of the world. Pretty soon everything will be pay-per-view. Oh well.

WSS

I think the downside to the NFL pay-per-view is they’re missing out on a much larger audience, which would effect advertising revenue.

The pay-per-view business model pretty much killed professional boxing.

I have to wonder how many folks out there already have Amazon Prime, AND are able to stream video content?  I agree putting it on a National broadcast would generate a bigger viewing audience and more advertising revenue, but the #@&*$## NFL would rather have the billions Amazon is paying them for the exclusive for TNF.

In 1964 before we went to church we would "test" the antenna reception to get an idea if we were going to be able to see the game.

2022- for many, same shit. Fucked up.

Agreed,  but for those po' folk... Last chance to get the game for free, and then drop Prime Video...   https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B0B532RPFW?ref=dvm_us_dl_sl_go_TNFGD222_mkw_siyRG2VqI-dc&mrntrk=pcrid_622827947658_slid__pgrid_142039320952_pgeo_9015827_x__ptid_kwd-301094927889&gclid=Cj0KCQjwj7CZBhDHARIsAPPWv3e8pUiUIkCNTGaqMP4rz_j3GSqNifSbwd2fIbbga3oVk2ACypXcXsYaAisrEALw_wcB

I remember that. Channels 3,5 and 8 in the Cleve area. No UHF even yet if I remember. Being the youngest, I was the family remote ;)
