1. Browns record?

Browns57: 11-6
Nero: 9-8
Flugel: 9-8
Bob806: 9-7-1
TexAg: 6-11
jcam222: 7-10
DBone: 6-11
Unsympathetic: 9-8
gumby: 8-8-1
SDBacker: 9-6-2
Dutch Oven: 7-10
Coyote: 8-9
mjp28: 9-7-1
Zombo: 12-5
syd: 11-6

Answer: Everyone's favorite professional football team that wears orange and brown went 7-10 in 2022.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: The general concensus was that the 2022 edition of the Browns would be around the .500 mark, or what passes as the .500 mark now that the NFL plays 17 regular season games (it will be 18 sooner than later if the owners have their way), and jcam222 and Dutch Oven nailed it on the head. The Browns went 4-7 under Jacoby Brissett, which many worried would happen, but it wasn't because of the backup QB, but instead shoddy defense and special teams. The Browns rebounded to finish 3-3 under Deshaun Watson, when the defense played better down the stretch to aid a struggling offense.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... There were a few really optimistic posters, despite knowing that the starting QB was going to be out for 2/3rds of the season, none more than Zombo.

Kudos to the Great Z for remaining positive. An ever greater challenge, the longer one roots for the Browns.

Taking a head start and saying 16-1 next season. And the 1 just coming in the final game of the season, resting all the starters ahead of the play-offs! :P

I expect the same results next season... Watson almost looks washed up at this point.. So far I'm very unimpressed with the 230Mil dollar fraud...

I expect I'll care as much for your opinion next season as I did this one...

2. Bengals record?

Browns57: 11-6
Nero: 11-6
Flugel: 11-6
Bob806: 10-7
TexAg: 11-6
jcam222: 11-6
DBone: 10-7
Unsympathetic: 10-7
gumby: 10-6-1
SDBacker: 10-7
Dutch Oven: 10-7
Coyote: 10-7
mjp28:10-7
Coyote: 10-7
mjp28: 10-7
Zombo: 9-8
Syd: 10-7

Answer: The Cincinnati Bengals finished the season 12-4, and won the AFC North divisional title. They then trounced the Bills in Buffalo in their divisional playoff game, only to lose a heartbreaker to Kansas City in the AFC Championship Game.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: The Bengals struggled out of the gate, starting the season 0-2, and were 4-4 at their halfway point (remember, they only played 16 games this season, due to their regular season game vs the Bills being cancelled) after getting their proverbial doors blown off by the Browns on Monday Night Football. The Bengals rallied after that, winning their last eight games to win the division. While everyone expected a winning season from the inbred cousins of the Browns, no one predicted more than 11 wins, so no chicken dinner, one year, for all.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... I'll be nice, since no one was that far off, and award no dummy award either. I'm getting soft in my old age.

I guess I didn't post in the thread....but I think I had us for 10 wins.  I did not foresee us losing to the Jets, Falcons and Saints.  Those losses were pathetic.  And we wanted to think that we had a talented roster....

3. Ravens record?

Browns57: 9-8
Nero: 9-8
Flugel: 11-6
Bob806: 9-8
TexAg: 10-7
jcam222: 9-8
DBone: 11-6
Unsympathetic: 8-9
gumby: 11-6
SDBacker: 11-5-1
Dutch Oven: 10-7
Coyote: 11-6
mjp28: 9-8
Zombo: 10-7
Syd: 10-7

Answer: The Baltimore Ravens finished the 2022 season 10-7.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: A late season injury to Lamar Jackson pretty much ended the Ravens AFC North title hopes and any chance of a playoff run. The Ravens limped home with a 1-3 record in their last four games, and then lost a very tight game with Cincinnati in the Wild Card game. It will be interesting to see if the Ravens pull the trigger on a longterm contract for Jackson. This was an insanely close race for the winner of this question, as everyone but one poster was within one game of the correct prediction. TexAg, Dutch Oven, Zombo and Syd for the win.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... With everyone so close to the actual result, no dummy for this question.

4. Steelers record?

Browns57: 9-8
Nero: 5-12
Flugel: 9-8
Bob806: 9-8
TexAg: 7-9
jcam222: 6-11
DBone: 7-10
Unsympathetic: 7-10
gumby: 8-9
SDBacker: 7-10
Dutch Oven: 9-8
Coytoe: 6-11
mjp28: 7-9-1
Zombo: 9-8
Syd: 6-11

Answer: The Pittsburgh Steelers went 9-8 in the first season of the Kenny "Tiny Hands" Pickett Era.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: The Ben Roethlisberger reign was officially over, and it appeared early on that the growing pains were going to be rough, when the Steelers opened the season 2-6. They righted the ship about the time T.J. Watt came back from his sprained labia, and finished the season on an impressive 7-2 run to once again finish the regular season with a winning record. Browns57, Flugel, Bob806, Dutch Oven and Zombo share this tasty treat.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... I absolutely loved Nero's optimism, but I'm starting to think the Steelers could win more than five games in a season with a roster made up of Girl Scouts.

5. How many points do the Browns score? Allow?

Browns57: 322, 310
Nero: 320, 340
Flugel: 391, 375
Bob806: 361, 348
TexAg: 310, 340
jcam222: 320. 340
DBone: 339, 393
Unsympathetic 385, 313
gumby: 332, 385
SDBacker: 363, 332
Dutch Oven: 355, 370
Coyote: 352, 352
mjp28: 457, 407
Zombo: 401, 310
Syd: 384, 301

Answer: The Browns scored 361 points (21.2/game) and allowed 381 points (22.4/game) in 2022.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: During the 4-7 start, the offense was scoring at a higher pace than most of us probably expect, but the defense was also allowing more points than we thought they would too. During the final month or so, the offense scored less than they did early on, but the defense played better. Considering the QBs the Browns played last season, the defense really let the team down in crunch time over and over. The list of opposing QBs faced by the Browns is not exactly a Murderer's Row of pigskin slingers. Dutch Oven probably came the closest overall with both predictions being very close, but some honory mentions include Nero and jcam222 for nailing the -20 point differential, and Bob806 for nailing the Browns offensive point total. gumby and SDBacker was very close with one part of the predictions too.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to.... The Browns had a -20 point differential, slightly more than one point per game, while Zombo predicted a +91 differential. Maybe next year!

Knowing how much he likes domes - maybe in this one instance we can change the name of the award from 'Big Dummy' to 'Hollow Dome'

6. How many yards, touchodowns and interceptions does Jacoby Brissett throw for?

Browns57: 2400, 12, 6
Nero: 2600. 10, 4
Flugel: 2350, 13, 8
Bob806: 2376, 18, 6
TexAg: 897, 21, 22
jcam222: 750, 4, 6
DBone: 1482, 5, 12
Unsympathetic: 2000, 20, 5
gumby: 2250, 16, 7
SDBacker: 2222, 16, 11
Dutch Oven: 2250, 14, 8
Coyote: 1582, 9, 9
mjp28: 1307, 10, 7
Zombo: 2612, 17, 8
Syd: 2158, 12, 4

Answer: Jacoby Brissett threw for 2608 yards, with 12 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, and a 88.9 QB rating.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: The Browns went 4-7 during Brissett's run, but you really couldn't ask more from your backup QB. Brissett - referred to as "Briskett" by some of this board's brightest minds prior to the season - deserved a better fate record-wise considering the generally solid production he had, but some major defensive and special teams breakdowns probably cost the Browns at least two to perhaps four wins in his run. While he played well, he also had a bad habit early on of turning the ball over at the worst possible time. Browns57 nailed the touchdown and interception total, Nero really came closest to duplicating his overall numbers, and I'll throw Zombo a bone for having the closest yardage total.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... I'm assuming jcam222 figured that Brissett would be replaced after a three or four games because of poor play, which I can see, but I'm not sure what TexAg was thinking. In fact, I'm not sure it would be possible to throw for less than 900 yards while throwing for a combined 43 touchdowns and interceptions! I'm guessing/hoping his yardage total was a typo.

7. How many yards, touchdowns and interceptions does Deshaun Watson throw for?

Browns57: 1000, 7, 1
Nero: 1500, 8, 6
Flugel: 1650, 12, 5
Bob806: 1357, 9, 4
TexAg: 905, 8, 5
jcam222: 2000, 15, 6
DBone: 1620, 9, 7
Unsympathetic: 1850, 15, 3
gumby: 1750, 11, 6
SDBacker: 1723, 11, 3
Dutch Oven: 1350, 11, 6
Coyote: 1473, 11, 5
mjp28: 1807, 18, 7
Zombo: 1601, 12, 4
Syd: 1825, 8, 0

Answer: Watson threw for 1102 yards, 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. In his six games, the Browns went 3-3 and he had a 79.1 QB rating.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: We saw glimpses of 2020 Deshaun Watson, but mostly he looked like someone who hadn't played in a regular season NFL game in almost two full calendar years. Having a full offseason with the team, training camp, etc hopefully will help him get back to his Houston Texans self. Our old friend TexAg for the win.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... Quite a few pretty optimistic predictions here, a lot of roughly 300 yards a game passing guesses. Probably the most outlandish were jcam222 and mjp28. Maybe next year!

8. Who leads the Browns in receptions? How many?

Browns57: Bell, 77
Nero: Cooper, 40
Flugel: Cooper, 76
Bob806: Bell, 85
TexAg: Cooper, 82
jcam222: Bell, 60
DBone: Cooper, 91
Unsympathetic: Cooper, 80
gumby: Cooper, 63
SDBacker: Njoku, 67
Dutch Oven: Cooper, 74
Coyote: Cooper, 80
mjp28: Cooper, 77
Zombo: Cooper, 79
Syd: Cooper, 68

Answer: Amari Cooper, in his inaugural Browns season, lead the team with 78 receptions. Other notable reception leaders were Donovan Peoples-Jones (61), David Njoku (58) and Kareem Hunt (35).

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: In a move that elicited few comments outside Cleveland, the Browns showed what a savvy move it was picking up Cooper for a late draft pick. The Cowboys salary dump was the Browns prized offseason pickup, and Cooper did not disappoint. This was a highly contested question, perhaps the tightest in the long history of Red's/Dutch's Questions, with seven posters being within four receptions of the actual result. (But somehow, no one correctly predicted 78 receptions by Cooper) mjp28 and Zombo were both off by one.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... David Bell might have a long, successful career ahead of him, but it was a little premature of Browns57, Bob806 and jcam222 to predict him leading the Browns. The rookie had 24 receptions.

9. Who leads the Browns in reception yards? How many yards?

Browns57: Cooper, 1147
Nero: Cooper, 850
Flugel: Cooper, 1000
Bob806: Cooper, 1443
TexAg: Cooper, 897
jcam222: Cooper, 10 (?)
DBone: Cooper, 1092
Unsympathetic: Cooper, 925
gumby: Cooper, 1085
SDBacker: Cooper, 965
Dutch Oven: Cooper, 965
Coyote: Cooper, 1082
mjp28: Cooper, 1777
Zombo: Cooper, 1049
Syd: Cooper, 1250

Answer: Amari Cooper lead the Browns with 1102 receiving yards (14.9 yds/reception). Other notables were Donovan Peoples-Jones (839) and David Njoku (628).

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: It wasn't a question of who would lead the Browns in reception yards by those who answered this question, but by how many. Cooper had an all-around excellent season, perhaps the best overall since Josh Gordon's amazing 2014 performance. This was another tight race, with three posters within 20 yards, but DBone was the closest.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... Even if we all selected the correct player, there's bound to be a yardage total guess that is, well, a tad off. No one was a tadder off than mjp28, who was wildly optimistic. (Then again, if you are going to be optimistic, be wildly optimistic!) In the category of "No, seriously, check those predictions before hitting 'submit'" is jcam222, with a pretty humorous typo.

10. Who leads the Browns in touchdown receptions? How many?

Browns57: Njoku, 9
Nero: Cooper, 5
Flugel: Njoku/Cooper, 7
Bob806: Bell, 6
TexAg: Cooper, 13
jcam222: Njoku, 7
DBone: Cooper, 11
Unsympathetic: Cooper, 11
gumby: Njoku, 7
SDBacker: Njoku, 7
Dutch Oven: Cooper, 6
Coyote: Njojku, 8
mjp28: Njoku, 10
Zombo: Njoku, 8
Syd: Cooper, 11

Answer: Amari Cooper completed the Triple Crown of Browns receiving categories easily, by leading the team with 9 touchdowns. Other notables were David Njoku (4) and Donovan Peoples-Jones (3).

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: Another easy win by Cooper. DBone, Unsympathetic and Syd had the closest predictions.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... Everyone went with the first and second place finishers, I suppose mjo28 and his Njoku with 10 touchdowns was the farthest off.

Geeezzz I guess I thought that the BROWNS QBs would actually go crazy with the pass game Coop 1777 yds / 17 games = 104 measly yards / game was that too much to ask ???   I guess so.

11. How many rushing yards and rushing touchdowns does Nick Chubb have?

Browns57: 1175, 14
Nero: 1500, 10
Flugel: 1200, 10
Bob806: 1362, 11
TexAg: 1109, 10

Coyote: 1409, 8
mjp28: 1777, 17
Zombo: 1358, 9
Syd: 1550, 14

Answer: Nick Chubb had yet another stellar year for the Browns, as he rushed 1525 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: Chubb is starting to get mentioned along side the best RBs in Browns history with his fifth season of averaging 5.0 yards or more a carry. We're talking Jim Brown territory here. Syd and Nero's predictions are exactly on either side of Chubb's actual production. Nero was 25 yards and two touchdowns below Chubb's season totals, Syd was 25 yards and two touchdowns above.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... Here's a rare question where many of our predictions ended up being fairly low of reality, yet the farthest off what the most optimistic, by Unsympathetic.

Zombo, or Zomblow as I like to call him, has never, at least in my rroughly 30 years of seeing his work, has ever predicted that the Browns would have a losing season.

When he again nails it he won't be celebrating "I told you they would be shit", but instead, "I told ya we would win it all". Not a bad logic. Ieant wtf fun is there in being right about 7 - 10?

No disrespect hurled at the winners.

I stopped joining in the fun of predicting just because my contempt for Haslam keeps my head clouded.

Like all of us, I want the Browns to joint the 20-0 club.

~  AND  ~  Well this might be even harder to do the double box out of Nick Chubb yards  and  TDs. in one question.

With all three  Nero  1500  10 /  Chubb  1525  12 /  syd  1550  14  very good a perfect box out plus one,  and in sequence.

So who's next on a perfect box out ?  Not to mention plus one in sequence. .    :D
