WOOF WOOF: Fantasy Football Follies, week 10

Beanpot's League ONE:

With Antonio Bryant, Clinton Portis, and Marion Barber on bye weeks, WPB Browns' coach was left feeling like he was in a Replacements movie. Detroit's RB Kevin Smith, KC's RB Jamaal Charles and B'more's Ray Rice filled in but despite a valiant effort they weren't able to come up with enough points to defeat Beanpot. Jamaal Charles (0) suffered an ankle injury in the first half and Ray Rice (3) handed over all of his fantasy point opportunities to Willis McGahee, giving Beanpot the win and sole posession of first place, 71-65.

The Notredamers shocked DTBH 114-74 in the League One upset of the week, dropping Dog the Bounty Hunter to second place. Thomas Jones (27), Adrian Peterson (23) and the NYJ defense (25) boosted the Notredamers to victory proving that every team needs to be prepared to play every week no matter who the opponent is. (Did you hear that Cleveland Browns?)

With four weeks to go in the regular season Beanpot, WPBrowns, DTBH and Greenville Mayhem are penciled into playoff spots. This week Mayhem and WPBrowns face off in one of several games that could change the entire playoff picture. Calfox KosarDawgs, Ballantyne CraZeez and the Notredamers can continue their late season rally, upsetting the playoff applecart. Brace yourselves, fellas, it's going to be an exciting few weeks!

Beanpot's League TWO: The battle for playoff berths is not even close to being decided in League TWO. The league leading Usual Suspects dropped their second game in a row, losing to The Traveling Pants 100-105. The Pants won their fourth in a row bringing them into clawing distance of the top spot. In the next two weeks the Pants are Traveling to meet Huskymania and Jumpin' Jack Flash who have it in their power to halt the team's rise. It's time for the spoilers to step up and show what they're really made of. Are you fantasy men, or are you fantasy mice? (Or something like that.)

The Rookies enjoyed MVP performances from TE Tony Gonzalez (29) and WR Anquan Boldin (26) to win over Huskymania 118-68, garnering a share of first place.

The Brady Quinn to Kellen Winslow combination (16+27=43) took off and launched Lambdo's Air Show to victory over Beanpot, who dropped to third after losing two in a row. The Air Show won despite having T. J. Houshmansomethingorother (0), who was on a bye week, in the team's active lineup. QB Sage Rosenfels was released from Beanpot following the loss. He'll be replaced on the roster by a recovering Tony Romo whose pinkie finger returns to action this week.

It wasn't Hammertime for the HAMMER who was humbled by Navdawg 103-33. Philly's defense (1), Torry Holt (1), and Jake Delhomme (-1) were overheard singing the Three Dog Night hit, "One is the loneliest number..." (

), in the HAMMER locker room after the game. NYJets RB Thomas Jones (27) was the game MVP for Navdawg.

Tom Flugel's League THREE: "And I wonder, still I wonder, who'll stop the (t)rain...." (

). Strains of Creedence Clearwater Revival played in the background as Choo Choo's barreled to their eighth win in a row knocking the Devil Dawgs off track, 103-66. The Choo Choo's stand atop the league at 8-2-0 while the Dawgs find themselves in 6th place, sharing a 6-4-0 record with four other teams.

Fan of STEEL also kept a winning streak alive at 4 and for the time being owns second place after defeating The Noble Savages 75-59.

Team Sabre stayed in the playoff hunt by disappointing Believeland 100-59. Anquan Boldin (26), Vincent Jackson (10) and Dwayne Bowe (10) scored nearly all of the points for Believeland.

Waiting for Noodles walloped Rice's Rampage 120-66 to stay in reach at 5-5-0.

The Flugelmaniacs have experienced a stunning reversal and fell for the third time in as many weeks. The Cleveland Steamers, at 5-5-0, kept their hopes alive by defeating the 'Maniacs 81-76. Flugel's Eddie Royal (22), Wes Welker (17) and Jamal Lewis (13) ran out of steam and couldn't squeak out the points needed to win.

Heidi's League FOUR: Eight teams are in easy reach of the playoffs. My Helmet's 2 Tight may have knocked themselves out of a shot, dropping to 4-6-0 and 9th place by losing to Illegal Procedure 87-56. 2 Tight had a choice between QB's Derek Anderson (0) and Jason Campbell (0) this week and chose Anderson. Illegal Procedure mercifully left WR Wes Welker's 17 points on the bench but 2 Tight was apparently 2 Tight to take advantage of the blunder.

Corky Crennels Byah! may have destroyed all hope of reaching the post season by leaving Kellen Winslow's 27 points in the clubhouse. The mistep gave opponent dirty hands their fourth win in a row by a score of 92-84.

Blitzburgh notched their fifth consecutive victory. Jay Cutler (25) and Mewelde Moore (24) gave an inspired effort for Blitzburgh who defeated vdogrowz 101-97. Blitzburgh's 5th win left them in 5th place, only 4 tie-breaking overall points behind dirty hands.

High scoring honors and a case of virtual Viagra go to Brownsfaninkorea who defeated Season Ending Injury by a margin of 80 points. Matt Forte (20) and Reggie Wayne (19) lead Brownsfan to victory 126-46. Season Ending Injury suffered from lack of depth on the roster and were forced to play RB Earnest Graham who was on a bye.

Commish Heidi responded to the spate of coaching errors this week with a forceful, "Wake up League 4!" and pounded home the message that every game counts. Even teams who have no hope of reaching the playoffs should make an effort to replace injured players and field the best possible team. Heidi denied that her remarks were directed at DaManBeagles who left Laurence Maroney (IR) on the active roster.

Absolutely nothing has been decided yet in any of the leagues making this a terrific fantasy season for owner/coaches in all of the leagues. Good luck to everyone (except my opponents in League ONE)as we head into the final weeks of the regular fantasy season!

Great write up Kathy!

Those Choo Choo's are for real. My boys are all still in the whirlpool smarting from their beatdown.

It doesn't get any easier this week with what must be an angry group of Flugelmaniacs next up on the docket.

Sad part is I am 4th in total points, yet sit @ 3-6-1 and in 10th place. Been outscored by some hot teams, and a little unlucky I guess.

Great write up again, Kathy. It is the best part of the FF week!

Great job as always Kathy. My Helmet's 2 tight hasn't thrown in the towel just yet although they are a bit weak in the knees.

I also got an email from Season Ending Injury saying that they were creamed worse than a can of Libby's (corn).

Not much posting going on over there and I think some of us may have a touch of ADD but I hope the effort to win is still there even if it is just not to be in last place.

Yeah. I'm just the opposite. Lower on points but been fortunate to face underperforming teams some weeks. My hope is that it will always even out by the time the playoffs roll around.

yep, i sure screwed that one up! icon_lol.gif

actually i benched him because DA could never get him the ball.

forgot about it then Quinn stepped in. he will be there next time.

As of this evening, Anderson is history on my team. He's caused enough trouble.

Very clever.

I caught some breaks in a tough match-up week and Portis on bye...and don't feel real good about my match-ups this week.

Great job gal.

I appreciate very much everybody's kind comments about the summaries that are posted each week but there's no way I could do any of it without the massive help given to me by the commissioners, Beanpot, Tom Flugel, and Heidi. Heidi, in particular, has gone out of her way to spend tremendous time compiling news and notes. I really didn't do her justice this week because I got on a roll writing about playoffs and completely overlooked half of what she sent me (Sorry, Heidi!). Here's a sample of what the commissioners have to give me each week to make all this possible for you geeks. Be sure to scroll down and read Heidi's notes. They're terrific!!

Notes:

1)Team DangeRuss played RB Chris Jhonson (3) in favor of DeAngelo Williams (16)

2)Brownsfaninkorea played beautifully this week with the league leading score of 126 pts leaving Season Ending Injury stunned and wondering wha' happened?

3) In a procedure of his own, Illegal Procedure chose to leave WR Wes Welker (17) sitting while playing Laveranues Coles (1). Guess they didn't need those 16 extra pts.

4) Season Ending Injury had a tough week. They did not have much to work with. 3 players were on Bye week. They did leave RB Earnest Graham in the line up on his Bye week with no one on the bench to fill in. And RB T.J. Ducket scored a (0) for the battered Season Ending Injury.

5) Living up to their name, My Helmet's 2 Tight played QB Derek Anderson for (0) pts this week. It wouldn't have mattered because their 2nd QB Jason Campbell also scored zilch.

6) For reasons unknown to the commish, Corky Crennels byah! left 27 pts sitting with Kellen Winslow. Has Corky given up already?

7) DaManBeagles in the doghouse by leaving Laurence Maroney who is on the IR after shoulder surgery while Julius Jones was available to play even though he only earned 7 pts. He also made the bonehead (get it? DaManBeagles = BONEhead) move of leaving WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (how do they get that to fit on his jersey?) in the line up. Although his other WRs scored (0), he could have looked for a replacement? What do I know?

Wake up League 4.

Please don't apologize Kathy. Seriously, you are the one who takes what we send and turn it into a great read. You are really appreciated and do a great job. I for one look forward to the report and it was important to bring up the playoffs. It is after all getting close to them already.

Keep us informed and laughing!

WOW! That's an excellent job by Heidi! Hats off to all the teams in League 3 - for having about 10 teams in the playoff hunt. Those Choo Choos are on fire!!!!!

Thanks Tom, I appreciate that.

Wow! 10 teams in your league in line for the playoffs? That is gonna be interesting to watch and see what happens Tom! You seem to be doing a good job at your commish position. Congrats. Ever done it before?

Thanks to Heidi, Kathy and all the commissioners who go the extra mile for the rest of us. I got suckered into 5 different leagues of varying types this year but stuff like this helps me maintain interest.

PS Team DangeRuss is on a mission, and unlike the Browns, we don't have any quitters in this organization.

Blargh. I got Matt Casseled by 2-win Huskymania (wonder who that might be?) yesterday. Have some major ground to make up...
