  1. This is going to be a great litmus test for Jim as he is inheriting a really good NFL roster, especially at the one position that matters the most, QB. If he is even 1/2 the coach he thinks he is, then he should be batting KC for the division next year and anything less will be a gigantic disappointment.

^ With that being said. all he needs to do is ask himself "what would Brandon Staley do here" and do the exact opposite and that will be worth 4 wins right from the get go.

  2. While I'm not one to cry for Baker, the article is spot on in terms of the franchise being handcuffed by Watson's ridiculous contract and the capital thrown in the garbage for the privilege to make that trade is just the flies on the shit pile cake.

If the Browns can somehow continue to be a winning team in the next few years, it will be in spite of the trade and not because of it.

  3. I'm off tonight to see my daughter in Melbourne Australia and literally can't wait as we have been saving up for this for 5 years, but in true Browns fan torture-ism, I won't get to see another game until the Championship game.

If my 56ys of total life and 44yrs as a Browns fan have taught me anything, it is that this will be the year the Browns win it all if it ever happens in my lifetime..... "Oh, you want the Browns to win? Well here it is, but you can't watch!"

So, I'll be one of the "guests" browsing this forum and reading every crazy post in the roller-coaster of emotion that is the game day thread. Enjoy every snap, every high and manage the lows and for God's sake, please try not to kill each other while I'm gone.

Here's to future D Bone quoting this post as we hoist the AFC Championship Trophy.

I'll drink a Fosters for you all.

    G'day mates.

Watson's career is over. He's going to stick it out because $150M, but the dude's shoulder is never going to be the same. He already had a noodle arm before the glenoid broke. I've never seen any case reports of a throwing athlete coming back from this injury to his throwing arm. If we get rid of Flacco, I'm going to lose my mind.

My fear is that the owners and the FO will at all costs force the narrative that the Watson deal is worth it and they will not keep Joe because that would just muddy the waters when the inevitable happens and Watson's best play is that of a mid tier journeyman NFL QB.

They have saddled the donkey and everyone else is going to ride it until they find a way out that they believe saves them a tiny bit of face.

    Going for 2..

Why wouldn't you give yourself a shot to tie the game with a field goal if you get lucky enough to get the onside kick?

To me, the thing wrong with analytics and following computers spitting out probabilities, is the absolute lack of the human emotion in the computer's decision.

    1) If he makes the 1pt kick, his team is still mentally in it for the onside kick even though an onside kick is relatively a low % reality in today's NFL.

    2) If he makes the 2pt conversion, his team is still mentally in it for the onside kick even though an onside kick is relatively a low % reality in today's NFL.... not any more mentally ready than if they made the 1pt kick, but equally hopeful.

    3) When he fails to make the 2pt conversion, it sucks all of the life out of the team which just goes to make the onside kick recovery that much more unlikely. Humans play this game, not 1's and 0's.

To me, it's just awful gameday management and I'm glad Doug is taking his sorry ass home with a loss.
