  1. Hahahahaha. True, but I'm subdued today! A bit under the weather. Honestly, it's tough to win on west coast. We still can of course, but we were due for a clunker . Still, let's keep fighting and see what happens. Denver will give us another turnover or two.
  2. Whelp, this is over. We were due for a clinker, and here it is folks. This is going to be BAD today, folks. Our DEs aren't even TRYING to maintain their assignments...they're crashing to the RB. If Mark Sanchez sees it, the coaches see it. These penalties, the lack of assignment integrity, the throwing the ball....it's weird. Oh well, I can still enjoy my last day of vacation. This game is definitely not on the menu. The inevitable pick 6 is coming, and I don't need to see it.
  3. These look legit AF. We should maybe turn this thread into a food post instead of discussing the game. Something tells me we can all cook! 🤣
  4. None of us have any idea. This is literally torture. Has DTR EVER done anything to say we should pass EVERY play? Let's help the kid.
  5. EVERY center in the league resets the ball prior to the snap and it's NEVER called. I have no idea what's going on here, but it's weird. I'm serious, centers do this every time.
  6. I don't know if I WANT it to happen, but I think Flacco starting at some point this season is inevitable, either due to injury or ineffectual play. Browns simply don't go 7-3 to start a season, and they're going to make every play possible, including playing a washed up veteran. Denver forced only 10 three and outs this season, and they started out with one against us right away. Our offense is so totally limited with DTR, at this point, that our coach might try anything. Can we improve with DTR? Of course! He's young and needs experience. That can totally happen. But the other side of the coin is more likely when you consider DTR is a 5th round rookie. Let's go boys! And maybe run the ball?
  7. Literally making every mistake known to man right now. Why are we going cover zero so much against a veteran? I don't get it.
  8. There's a good chance you're right. No disrespect to DTR, but rookie 1st rounders mostly struggle, let alone a fifth. It's uphill to be sure, and I anticipate another ugly game, but can he do enough? As far as Flacco goes, it would not surprise me if he starts after our west coast trip. I hate that he can't move, but do you really want the season in the hands of a rookie? We'll see! Should be a fun season no matter what and I'm here for it.
  9. Absolutely. Like we always say, there's generally a reason someone is a backup. I truly believe we'll know more about DTR this week, mainly because our running game should be MUCH better. I mean, think about it...we literally couldn't run against Steelers at ALL. That's a very difficult road for a rookie QB! I don't expect to be world beaters on the ground, but it HAS to be better. If we can get a little running game cooking, it'll allow us chances for play-action and some deeper drops needed to take a couple shots. We were so scared of Pittsburgh, rightfully so, that we didn't even try to get deep. I don't expect DTR to throw it around the yard or anything, but I do expect a much different offense. Where it gets interesting is with Joe Flacco. Joe still has a plus arm, make no mistake, but he's a literal statue. Any rush or pressure and the play is toast. But there's seems to be the feeling across the various pods I listen to that it's not if but WHEN Flacco starts. I'm not sure I believe it, and I truly believe our best course of action is for DTR to steadily improve, even if incrementally, but if he can't...Flacco will play. Also, Ward seems to be out for at least a week maybe more. Our injuries are mounting and it's unfortunate. We'll need points to win Sunday.
  10. Yeah, they really do. It's so hard to judge, too. Like, how many of us were ready to write off Jordan Elliott? I know I certainly was, but he looks like a quality rotational player now. I think the biggest mistake Berry made that well could've tanked our season is trading Dobbs, then NOT making another trade to get him back or someone else like him before trade deadline. Many fans and beat writers openly questioned the decision, and it honestly didn't seem that complicated. Dobbs isn't GREAT, but he had familiarity with the offense and offered more experience over DTR. It was a huge gaffe and I really hope it doesn't kill our special season. That being said, DTR can and will get better. Like many of us said before, our coaches were determined not to lose the game on offense against Pittsburgh like we did the first time. Expect to see a different offense to some degree Sunday. How? I'm glad you asked! Remember those 5-6 "read-options" we ran where it looked like DTR had a zillion yards if he kept it? Well, I don't believe he had the option to keep it at ALL. Film shows he wasn't even looking at the DE, and I'm betting we were setting up the play for future games, and we coach didn't want DTR to mess around with their edge studs. Also, our depth of target and time to throw will increase. We'll throw it deeper (a bit) and try to hit some explosive plays in the right conditions. It won't be the greatest show on turf or anything, but it won't be last week, either. I really hope we can score enough points and we don't need Flacco because if the season tanks due to the offense and Dobbs keeps performing well for a backup, Berry will be judged VERY harshly.
  11. This REALLY hurts. Yes, I know he and Newsome were responsible for that atrocious Warren TD, but Mcloud is a leader and beloved in the locker room. Thornhill is tracking to play, but you just can't be certain with those soft tissue injuries. We've been unlucky offensively with injuries, but mostly very lucky on defense. Needs to stay that way if we're going to keep winning ugly.
  12. It's going to be a war. Russ has a propensity to avoid the rush and make plays down the field. Something I'm nervous about because if you watch the all-22 of our games, there are several instances of WRs running open JUST as pressure gets home. If you play a team that can pick up the pressure or avoid the rush, it could get interesting. I have faith because we still beat the Ravens, and Lamar IS THE premier dude at doing this. Remember that deep ball down the right sideline to Flowers that he JUST overthrew? That's the difference in winning and losing. CJ Stroud is also going to be tough, what a player HE looks like! The biggest difference to me will come on offense. Like I told my buddies, I honestly believe Kevin was SO SCARED of the offense losing the game like the first contest that he dialed up the safest plan imaginable. Broncos defense won't offer the same level of resistance, and I wouldn't be shocked if our offense looked more aggressive. It won't be pretty all the time, but I think we can improve.
  13. Watching the final drive again, I'm more impressed. I honestly didn't believe we'd be able to throw the ball, just didn't. And to be fair, we displayed ZERO ability or even willingness to try. Go watch that pass DTR had to Moore again. That thing was SICK, and that catch wasn't super easy, either. With a guy in his face, DTR threw an absolute seed to Moore, low and away so he could cradle it and go down. Our protection was good, Moore ran a perfect route, and once we got THAT pass, it was time to roll. Additionally, Njoku had a rough game, we know, but check out the route he ran at the end. Nothing fancy, but Kevin was sly here. Kevin had Njoku running that sideline route ALL DAY, so what do we do now? We run a "tendency breaker" and sell the same outside route, but Chief breaks it off and runs directly back to the middle. It was wide open, and an easy throw. That's the little stuff you set up the entire game, then you cash it in when you need it. I THINK we ran it previously when DTR fired that fast ball off David's hands, and we were fortunate it wasn't picked. He could have caught it, but that ball needs to be down and perfect to a wide open dude. Very impressed with that drive, and in awe of what the defense did all day.
  14. Yeah, I'm totally for these posts. I just really believe that if we had a bit of injury luck, we're a top 3 team in the league. You don't 86 that coach. I mean, imagine if Watson AND Chubb had 4 week injuries and were both coming back? Who aren't we favored over at a neutral field? Not many. And how about going for it on it 4th down in at our OWN 35 yard line? And then the beautiful toss play, expert blocking, and finishing the run? Yes sir. Stefanski isn't perfect, but he's the best coach I can remember having in forever and I like his steady approach.
  15. I think we get the luxury again of learning from a loss, and that's extremely powerful. People are buying in, they're starting to believe, and they know it's going to be a slog. All of the sudden, the Broncos game looks tough, the Texans game looks very difficult, and you've got to figure out a way to get some more victories. Up 10-0, it very much felt to me like we were trying to not hand the game over on offense like we did the first time. I was ok doing that up 10, but we HAVE to find ways of generating SOME explosives, we just have to. Now, to be fair, not every team is Pittsburgh. I told my buddy it seemed like we were playing Techmo Bowl and the Steelers perpetually kept guessing our play. I'm not being negative, just stating facts here. We could not run the ball, we could not attack intermediate areas of the field, or much across the middle other than a slant or two. Virtually every pass was to the outside and was about a yard or two down the field. DTR's average depth of target was 3 yards and the NFL average is 6. It worked today, but I don't think many people are thrilled with the lack of attacking attempts. Again, not every team is Pittsburgh, so the run game will likely be better, the compressed style of defense won't be as severe, and you won't have Highsmith and Watt bearing down on you. Broncos are 32nd in DBOA defense, a major stat. That's MUCH better than Pittsburgh, I'll tell you THAT. I thoroughly believe Browns were SO scared of the edge rushers that they just were NOT going jeopardize the tiny lead or tie game status. They were bound and determined to make the Steelers' offense beat them, and they couldn't. LFG people.
  16. Can't believe you were there. What a game! Kevin didn't give a great answer on why he didn't challenge. I think he said he threw the flag but ref didn't see it? I dunno, it was rather embarrassing. But whatever, we beat Baltimore and Pittsburgh back to back. I can't really remember ever doing that.
  17. I couldn't see it. I literally couldn't envision it whatsoever. It's surreal we won that game when we basically "out-steelered the Steelers". The ONLY thing is, I was basically DOUBLE wrong. I thought we'd be down 3-6 points and DTR was going to have to come from BEHIND. 😂
  18. I agree. It's hard not to think about what could have been, but football is a cruel sport. Every team in the league is missing vital players, but if Browns somehow got super lucky, what do they look like with Chubb and Watson playing?
  19. Such a fun year, even through covid bs. Remember beating Pittsburgh at the end of regular season and Baker running a QB sweep for 3 yards while Hunt obliterated that dude? Fun stuff. Let's go 8-3, no matter how ugly. Just see how far you can go, and hopefully DTR gets better and better. Remember, not every team is Pittsburgh. He threw some rough passes today, but made it count when we needed him. Proved me wrong.
  20. Yep, I really didn't think he had it in him. Not being hard on the kid, it just wasn't looking good. I know this season takes on a different feel and possible trajectory...but man...beating Pittsburgh? That's effing SO HARD to do, especially for us. The safety didn't hurt us, the interception didn't kill us, and our defense basically gave up one crushing blow ALL day. Just incredible. I'm just so happy for our fans. Getting to celebrate home victories is so fun, and they deserve it.
  21. You know what? I'LL EFFING TAKE IT BEECHES! Man, how the HECK did we win? Who cares, let's go!
