  1. One season as the Panthers D-coord isn't a huge sample size. And as I said earlier, the Cardinals DVOA drop off is a bit whacky. If our defense ends up being right around the same as the 2017 Panthers (they gave up 30+ points only 3 times during the season and at most 34) then I'll be completely fine with that. I just want to make sure we engineer a good turnover rate and giving a young offense as many chances to succeed as possible.
  2. Meh. I"m 50/50 but will remain cautiously optimistic. I'll have to make a few camp dates this year now.
  3. Reading several pages on his schemes and philosophy now. The one consistent is the amount of zone and pattern matching zone he plays. With certain personnel he gets blitz happy and others not so much. Appears to be pretty aggressive mostly running 1 gap assignments. On the fence about it because I see how badly the Cardinals fell off in defensive DVOA rankings after only one season. But I also know that when you're offense puts your defense out on the field for 75% of the game, then they're bound to pack it up eventually. Still reading and versing myself. Will comment more later.
  4. Well aware, I'm basing this on Philly parting ways with him. I cannot get on board with Pagano and I feel it would represent a step back for this defense.
  5. Unless he and the iggles part ways...
  6. whole heartedly endorse this. Guy is an asshole but coaches the hell out of defense, uses concepts similar to Williams and might be one of the more creative DC's in getting exotic with 4 man pressures.
  7. Manziel's pro debut wasn't as bad as this.
  8. 2/7 1INT 2 sacks for -13 yards and a fat ZERO on that scoreboard. But hey, he's 'exciting' AF to watch though, AMIRITE!?!?
  9. If you're talking about the 2014 game, I did a breakdown on another board of some of the fronts. VaTech ran a lot of bear and double eagle that game to shut down the IZ run by Zeke. So your claim of running a pure 52 might not be accurate depending on how you view alignments. edit: VaTech tried the very same thing the year after and got steam rolled. So........
  10. Worth noting both have a terrible throwing motion that involves first dropping the elbow and almost windmill like windup. Though at times LJ has a from the eye type sidearm.
  11. I don't feel I missed your point. But the option game between the 20's is going to get some serious yardage and now defenses have to account for the QB in this scheme where area's nobody was threatened by Flacco's legs. If the run game didn't* get better then something would have to be seriously off. Doing a little numbers/stat crunch and comparison between this Ravens team, the 2012 Skins and the 2011 Donkeys when Tea Biscuit took over. Stayed tuned, kids.
  12. Of course the run game is going to produce more with Jackson, that was never in question. Thanks to his legs and some great defense the Ravens have enjoyed a nice stretch of winning. How long that will last, remains to be seen. With Lamar on reads and designed rushes you have a 1on1 or +1 in most every situation. Couple that with a coach wanting to keep his job and a renewed emphasis on the running game... Voila. Edit: my curious comment is to imply the width of option plays and the formations in which they're being run. Blt seemingly asking their young QB to run into harms way quite often.
  13. The combine stats I linked were RG3's... I'll take my leave now.
  14. GRADE 95.0? 4.41 SEC Top Performer 39.0 INCH Top Performer 120.0 INCH BLUE STAR = TOP PERFORMER 6'2"HEIGHT 32 1/4"ARM LENGTH 223LBS.WEIGHT 9 1/2 120 inch broad jump 39 inch vertical I admit, his combine stats were ridiculous....
  15. Is he unique though? Or is it more of what the NFL has seen before save for the fact Lamar is paired with a curious run game design and the leagues best scoring defense...?

  17. "Careers" Is hardly the word for the first two. They're backups that require cutting down your offense in ways that make it ineffective (at best) at times. Smith's time in KC showed he didn't rescue shit. Just brought ball control and identity to the Niners at that point. You're still essentially making the connection you wanted Lamar and Roman here because you wanted to emulate Kaep. As the NFL showed, it'll catch up to you while costing you your QB. I'll be back to bump your thread when Lamar starts missing open passes from the added punishment, has rush lanes closed on him and in general has issues being red zone effective. Pray the Ravens don't play NE in Foxboro..
  18. Well done. Now, O/U on how long his playing career lasts. I'll set it at 2 years. I guess I didn't anticipate the Ravens dumbing down the offense in favor of short term gains. But Harbaugh saved his job.
  19. Just wait, the transformer trip in NYC will end up in this or that other horseshit thread. Bet.
  20. Well then of fucking course it has to be some kind of conspiracy.
  21. Yeah you can just merge this with your other thread bubs. We know where this was headed.
