  1. I'm just going to put this out there that as of right now, the Browns have 11 picks in next year's draft including 2 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4, 2 in the fifth...Don't be shocked if they try to sign clowney just so they can get another comp pick when he leaves. The ravens and patriots have made a killing on building their teams off the middle rounds and I think Berry wants to do the same thing.
  2. I like the guys from Fantasy Pros...pretty reasonable with their evaluations and unbiased. Of course, they have their favorites and they did like the MH over phillips. However, one interesting thing they said was that this is a projection pick. If Phillips would have stayed one more year as advised and learned pass coverage a little better, he's a for sure 1st rounder. He won't get on the field a ton this year, but next year, he could be really good. They graded the pick as a B. I would hold true to that evaluation. Even Berry has admitted that not all draft picks and rookies are great when they enter the league and they are not going to draft based on them helping this year. The theme of this draft is clearly potential. They are drafting for the future and not necessarily for immediate production. I can't say one is right or wrong but it's pretty obvious they are playing for upside. Honestly, solid draft. I would say they are drafting in the top portion of the league. Unfortunately, I love what the Ravens and Bengals are doing as well. At least they aren't packers draft!!
  3. Technically, the clock starts on the team as soon as the other team officially submits their pick to the NFL people. If there is a trade, the clock restarts for the other team. It's always been that way. The reason things moved a little quicker is because we didn't have all the fluff interviews and on-stage with RG. For example, it looked as though the Browns pick came in super quick, but because of the delay for everything else I think the pick wasn't submitted until the 5 or 6 minute mark. I wish they would shorten it to 7 minutes in the first.
  4. good call. Sign peters to a 1 year deal knowing that he may be only good for 8 games...enough for Wills to learn
  5. Do you think there is a chance the Browns would consider trading a 4th rounder or later for Williams. Let him play for one year, give Wills a chance to learn the left side considering this offseason is going to be different.?
  6. Here's a trade scenario I'm going to throw out there. There is a rumor that Miami wants to move into the #3 slot WITHOUT using their #5 pick. What if this turns into a three team deal? Try to follow: Miami gets #3 from Detroit Detroit gets #10 from Cleveland plus #26 from Miami, #56 and 3rd round in 2021 from MIA Cleveland receives #18 and #39 from MIA If your wondering where this falls on the draft chart...here is the link for values https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=mia Detroit needs 2200 from the value chart...they receives roughly 2600 depending on next years value but it should be fairly high Cleveland needs 1300 and they get 1410 back It's oddly fair and I think depending on how the browns board falls with the rest of the draft, I would do it.
  7. interesting thought, but it's going to take more than just the #10 pick to get him. I have heard they want a #1 plus a guy like obj plus a 3rd
  8. Overall, they are fine. They appeal to the classic design but they did nothing to modernize. I like the previous color rush better. I don't love them but I don't hate them. Unlike most people, I like the white tops on brown pants. Way better than the previous generation. Not sure it makes me want to run out and buy one though.
  9. The Browns clearly aren't going to offer a 2nd round pick for Williams UNLESS something fantastically crazy like Simmons or Okudah falling to them. IMOP, If they offered a 2nd right now, the skins would take it and clearly they are not willing to give up that much. EVEN IF the scenario above happens, I think the Browns would be more inclined to try to trade back into the first or beginning of the second to get their guy and then sign Peters off the street for a 1 or 2 year deal to help acclimate the new LT. Finally, I think Callahan is a big reason why the Browns have not made the deal yet. If he thought that he was worth a 2nd round pick PLUS giving a massive new deal to rather than drafting a young LT, I think Berry would have made it happen. Williams has not played a full season in 7 years...think about that. Plus, he's 32 and wants top shelf money. I think the Browns are playing this the right way. It's all going to depend on how the draft falls and how much the skins are willing to cave.
  10. This is really good. Simple to use. Not a ton of ads. Ran one sim through 3 rounds... As you will see, I traded down with the Raiders from 10 to 12 for a 3rd rounder...I'm very happy with this draft CLE 12. Andrew Thomas OT Georgia trade icon CLE 41. Zack Baun OLB Wisconsin CLE 74. Ashtyn Davis S Cal CLE 80. Akeem Davis-Gaither OLB Appalachian State trade icon CLE 97. Neville Gallimore DT Oklahoma
  11. Mock drafts are great to get the creative juices flowing. I would say that, if the board fell the way it did for the Browns, they are running to the podium with Okudah on the paper. Yes, they have greedy and denzel, but that gives the team all kinds of flexibility with it's defense and disguises. They could send all kinds of different looks knowing they have the WR's on lockdown 1-3. Just a random thought, but I still just don't think these qb's are going to go as high as everyone else. Tua has major injury questions which can not be evaluated before the draft because of the current state of the world and Herbert was incredibly disappointing this past season. Herbert has all the tools but was the most inconsistent player perhaps in the country considering the hype. If I'm the chargers, I don't draft a qb and sign Cam Newton, draft either a tackle or if okudah is on the board based on a scenario like this, i take him and have the best secondary in the league. If I'm Miami, and you obviously tried to tank last year, why not tank again for next year where Fields and Lawarence will be in the draft? Both ranked higher than Tua or Herbert. You have a serviceable vet plus Rosen (who you gave up a 2nd rounder) still in the fold. Put some really good players around your next qb. Even if you don't get the top 3 pick next year, MIA still has all kinds of draft ammo to move up if they really want too. (Yes, I know, every year is different and you never know about the qbs and who is going to flame out, etc...). My point is both teams are in a great position to add good talent without having the risk of failure of a qb.
  12. I appreciate the fact that Callahan is here to help make the decision. His knowledge will go a long ways in selecting the right guy. IMOP, the only one who seems like he could be a massive bust is Becton...I just have a bad feeling about him. That being said, i know very little about evaluating offensive line talent. One guy whom I didn't see on the list is Ezra Cleveland. He's getting a lot of hype right now and the browns have had him in for a visit. My predicition is the Browns are going to trade back to 12 with the Raiders and still get their guy. The Raiders want a #1 wr and if the board falls the way it is currently looking, the Raiders will want to jump the jets to get their guy. #12 and a 3rd rounder to jump a couple of spots. The browns would take that in a heartbeat. Also, I wouldn't mind if the browns took a 1 year flyer on Peters. Basically, help the young tackle, wherever you draft him, get accustomed to this abnormal season that is going to happen. If Peters is playing at a high level, great. If he sucks after 5 games, you cut him or try to trade him for a late round pick to someone whom has injuries. This also helps to provide depth.
  13. Hubbard is a quality depth piece. Not a starter but good enough for a few weeks in case of an injury. Well done.
  14. I thought the 49ers have been trying to get rid of Solomon Thomas for the last 2 years? No takers? he could be interesting...I still think they should swing for the fences with YN from Jax..Yes, the browns have some signings coming up (MG, DW, etc) but if they could front load the deal they might be able to make it work for the next couple of years. I'm not sure it would take more than a 2nd round pick to get it done (2021 2nd...the Jags have a million picks) or get really creative and trade the #10 pick for #20 and YN. Then potentially move-up if necessary. It gives the team some leverage against MG (not much) but an option. Plus, you could always trade one of them if you absolutely had too.
  15. But no state income tax in FL! That 10.75 there is closer to 12 or 13 in Ohio...good for Joe.
  16. Part of me wants Jameis Winston to go to NE, just for the drama. I think Big Bill is secretly thinking, watch I will take this cat who nobody wanted and turn him into a magician! My hunch is that Carolina will get SOMETHING for Cam. I think both NE and Chicago make the most sense. When he is healthy he is pretty good, that's a big IF but at the same time, $19 million for a starting qb is nothing. I think it will be a pick on Day 3 of the draft. Cam in NE also helps the Stidham learning curve. It's a one year deal and if he gets hurt you have a real opportunity to see what you have. They really think Stidham can develop into something, which is why I don't think NE is going to panic. I don't think Brissett is going back to NE. I actually hate the deal for the Colts with Rivers. Did they watch game tape? he blew more games by himself than any other qb in the league. I would have much rather have had Cam or Winston. Does LAC take a chance on Winston?..a younger version of Rivers? Do they rather take their chances in the draft with a guy like Herbert or Love or Tua if he falls (I still stand by my thoughts that I wouldn't draft him because of his medical and I think he is overrated...he'll have a few good years but than it's going to bust out). Washington is NOT going to draft Tua! Put a nail in that coffin. Haskins began to show promise at the end of the year. Plus, Chase Young is a generational talent. he's the best player in this draft and if you are a GM who takes a qb who has MAJOR medical concerns over that player, then you deserve to not hold a job. Rivera is a defensive guy...no chance he passes on Young.
  17. Not only is he a true fullback, but he is mostly known for his special teams work. That doesn't go unnoticed and when you have an opportunity to get a guy for a 7th round pick next year who can help fill multiple positions of need, you do it. The Vikings player is a developmental player. You need bodies to fill your PS and depth.
  18. If Baker doesn't get the message that his boy GG, is out the door and this is his job to lose...than he's more worried about fame than winning. IMOP, I think he is going to buckle down and be the guy we all want him to be.
  19. He's also 32 and not the same player he was a 3 years ago. If the price is on the low side, sure. I'm not spending top dollar for him though.
  20. The team acquiring the player is still obligated to the franchise tag salary. However, they are able to negotiate a deal with them up until the July Franchise deadline. The seahawks traded for clowney last year and were unable to negotiate a long term deal but still paid him under the franchise tender. The 49ers traded for Clark last year and were able to sign him long term. Most of the time when a team is trading for a franchise player they have already had conversations with the agent so they have a general idea of what it is going to take to sign the player long term.
  21. Cam Newton just hit the trade block...I think before you sign Phillip Rivers, the Colts would take a look at him. Watch out for NE and either TB or LAC (whomever doesn't get TB) on that one as well.
  22. It is interesting that neither of the big LB's (Schobert or Littleton) have signed yet...I'm wondering if teams are thinking the same thing that the Browns were in that they aren't worth $10+ per year. I could be totally wrong on all of this, but the teams that needed LB's seem to be filling holes quickly (raiders, giants, dolphins)
  23. good move. Paid a little more but got the guy who can push and teach baker. NTM, if Baker goes down, we know he is a quality back-up.
  24. Exactly why they would have to trade for him..I saw that MN would be willing to let him go for a mid-round pick...Not so sure now that they traded Diggs and got some draft picks back but they are still in salary cap hell.
  25. Bold prediction...they will trade a 3rd round pick for Anthony Harris from MN...
