Just out of curiosity, what do they know about Winston that the rest of the planet doesn't already know about him?   Look what they could have had Fields for compared to this crap?  Why go a million miles away to allow Pittsburgh to only give up a 6th round pick for a rising star at QB?  Sorry, I gotta be honest here  but this is Pittsburgh's FO beating our ass bad.  Even worse, he's got a whole career ahead of him.  Here's another Ohio State Buckeye the Browns SHOULD have been interested in.

Now the Browns are going to have to reach on Bo Nix or Joe Milton for 1 of their 5 picks.

Come on Flugs, this isn't that complicated.

The Browns front office isn't bringing in a backup that is going to automatically be more popular than Watson. No one really cares about Winston, or will be dying to see him play.

But Flacco? We saw how popular that run was with Browns fans and him.

Justin Fields? The ex-Ohio State QB in a region that is incredibly pro-Buckeye?

Winston was brought in because Watson likes him AND he's not much of a threat of the fan base clamoring for him.

And I'm confused, why exactly are we forced to use a draft pick on a QB now?

love williams he was a mainstay on my fantasy teams. But his acl

    Obviously dependent upon his recovery...

But I like his upside and ability to complement the existing WR room better than Renfrow, who just feels redundant to me.

    hunter renfroe ?

There's the obvious Clemson connection with Watson, but aren't both Jeudy and Moore slot-type guys?

I'm not sure about adding yet another... If the Browns were thinking about reuniting Watson with a former Clemson teammate, perhaps Mike Williams and his imposing size might be a better complement to what we have now?

Not yet.  Weather sucks today. I'm meeting a friend of mine out for a beer, then after that I'll be relaxing all day and jumping on some LB tape.  I'll give you my initial impression later.

He's been my guy I hope we get with the 2nd rounder, I think he'd be a great complement to JOK.

I think they'll go LB at pick 54. Just a hunch.

I like the idea, but this front office doesn't seem to like spending much money or draft capital on linebackers, with the exception of JOK in the second round.

Anyone you like at #54, Bob?

I'm all-in on Junior Colson, TCUN.

Now Justin Fields is going to Shittsburgh too

    For a conditional 6th?

And Caleb Williams can be heard muttering "Fuck me!"

I'm not sure either Wilson or Fields will be the Steelers long-term QB, but IMO they:

    1. Definitely improved the QB room from the "non-running QB" room of Pickett, Trubisky and ol' Denthead.

    2. Because Fields is still on a rookie contract, and I don't think the Steelers have to pay Wilson much, the Steelers aren't spending much relatively on their QBs. (I think the Steelers are only paying them COMBINED around $4.5 mill in 2024.)

    3. Didn't exactly give up much to try and see what they can do with Fields.

The whole Pickett drafting situation was pretty laughable, as the Steelers allowed their departing GM to use a first round pick on a QB he'd wouldn't be around to have to endure, putting their new GM in a weird position, they've done a decent job all things considered moving on.

I also think that Berry likes the WR room.  I am not sure we will do much more in that area.  To bring guys in means we have to cut players already on the team.  I am not sure Berry wants to cut any....Bell might be the cut guy is we draft a WR.

Your point makes sense, with Cooper, Jeudy, Moore and possibly Tillman entrenched in the first four spots.

I haven't really seen anything in Bell that makes me think he's a guarantee to make the roster for a third time.

But one thing to consider regarding if we draft a WR or not is that while the room seems pretty set, Cooper, Jeudy and Moore are all free agents after this season. The WR room looks crowded now, but at this time next year it could be somewhat barren. I'm kind of surprised the Browns haven't extended Cooper, at the same time lessening his salary cap number.

Ha, as long as the team is winning it's fine by me. Everyone saw the maturation of lamar under a good coordinator. They lost of course but he became a supremely stout qb across the board with insane wheels. I don't know how much russ is gonna be running but I love that part of fields. We shall see. I'm just glad to be rid of Matt fucking Canada lol.

I definitely get the impression that you are not a member of the Matt Canada Fanclub. 🤣

I don't think either Wilson or Fields is your long-term answer, but you definitely should be in a better position with your QBs over what you've been trotting out there the last two years.

It's not a Jihad against Mayfield. Some of us just don't think he is a top 10 take you to the Superbowl kind of QB and get tired of cal blowing nothing but smoke about him on a Browns Board while using his moral standards to discuss the guy (now guys) who are Browns QBs. Wouldn't bother me if he applied the same standards of conduct over on the poliboard as he now does to them.

The "you guys hate cal because of Baker" narrative is complete nonsense.

Cal is a bitch. He's always been a bitch. Stan couldn't stand him because he was always crying to him about so-and-so poster hurting his tender feelings. He's a bitch on nearly every topic he wastes everyone's time with typing his drivel. His moronic, juvenile posts that just wreak of someone with a massive inferiority complex goes far beyond Baker Mayfield posts, and easily pre-dates his arrival. But management is always here to come running to his aid, because apparently membership on that other forum has privileges.

That's the truth... hope it doesn't disappoint anyone.

He's the starter and was told he's the starter. I think russ is just happy to be starting somewhere and understands he's not the long term option. Dude is weird but he's always seemed like a good leader, legit loves his teammates. I think he takes fields under his wing, especially if he wants to play in the league whether it's the starter or a good back up assuming fields ascends.

Are you ok with the Steelers having so many "running quarterbacks" on your roster now? 😉

It had felt this could happen right after the steelers traded Pickett. Tomlin loves fields and there was always mutual interest there. The Steelers love their buckeyes. Couple people I respect said there was still mutual interest and then this happened. It's wild for me as a steeler fan in the best of ways. Getting him for a 6th is insane and it only becomes a 4th if he plays 51% of the snaps next season. Id have been over the moon for a 4th. Still no guarantees with either qb but this room makes me a lot happier than Pickett, mitch and Mason.

Goddamn it, now I have to root for an ex-Buckeyes player to suffer a season-ending injury... 😉

Bad enough Cam Heyward has played for the Steelers for like 24 years or something...

Kinchens is the #1 rated Safety in my draft magazine.  He has 11 INTs in the last 2 years and 59 tackles in each of those seasons. Stover is a great idea especially since we lost Harrison Bryant.  I like your top run stuffer in the DT - that my be the coolest 1st name.  Every time he stuffs a run - you can say "that's Maa son" in chorus with his dad.

    This stuff is fun!

Minnesota's Tyler Nubin is Lindy's #1 rated safety and has a 1st/2nd round grade. Kinchens is their #2, with a second round grade.

    And yes, indeed!

Hold up now ! Where does your drafting mag have these 2 rated?  near rating #54 still?

TE Cade Stover, Ohio State. 6'4, 251. Possibly the most well-rounded TE in this class.

Ok Bru'tus the Buckeye homer ! ;)     Been sitting in my OSU man-cave where the grey carpet has the Buckeye red/white stripe running down the middle of it.. Berry is going to piss both of off because?

TE Cade Stover will be age 24.5 when drafted, meaning Berry won't draft him :P  (but we share the same thinking on Stover)

damn, i got to cut the grass already !  🙄  Round 1 !

The magazine (Lindy's) has both Mitchell and Powers-Johnson as second rounders.

But you got me on Stover, they have him as a third rounder. 🤣 But the "possibly the most well-rounded TE in this class" part made me think, you know, maybe he wouldn't be such a reach here in the second.

  14. WR Adonai Mitchell, Texas. 6'3, 196. Lightening quick off snap, giving the Browns WR unit more needed speed.

TE Cade Stover, Ohio State. 6'4, 251. Possibly the most well-rounded TE in this class.

C/OG Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon. 6'3, 320. Bulldozer in run game. Can play center or guard, giving Browns flexibility in two positions they will need an eventual starter.

DT Maason Smith, LSU. 6'6, 315. Top run stopper in DT class, has potential as pass rusher too.

LB Junior Colson, TCUN. 6'3, 247.  Probably my favorite 2nd round prospect, honestly. Great run defender perfect complement to JOK.

S Kamren Kinchens, Miami. 5'11, 205. Thumper AND ballhawk.

  15. Nice list of prospects Flugel... I waited until I did mine before really looking at your and gumby's list, didn't want to get influenced. We have different players but exactly the same positions picked 🤣

I ended up with six guys, could have had damn near twice that.
