  1. I couldn't help but think of the "same old Browns." These are the exact kind of stories we were used to previous to the last couple of years.
  2. Word is that Jimmy has begun to do just that: meddling again. He's been since about halfway through the season, so hold on.
  3. While everything you wrote is true, we still got to see Baker sans all the injuries to know what we got. I can't imagine trying to play an NFL QB with a busted shoulder, even it being the left, non-throwing one. I think the more glaring problem lies with a meddling owner.
  4. If there is one guy who won't get a shot confidence, it's Baker.
  5. When/if Baker heals up some, he should play better, but will healing correct his inability to find the open man? I doubt it. Baker is who he is: a sparky, fired up player who uses criticism as fuel. But, this is the NFL; that alone only gets you so far. If you can't develop the skill to see the whole field and find the open man, you will not become a good or great QB. You just won't ever get there. And when it comes down to crunch time, Baker has proven he will go bust and F up. How many times have we seen it? How many do we need to?
  6. I think I counted 5 Raiders behind the LOS within a second of the snap of that play, with all 5 defenders in arms reach of Chubb. You have a point.
  7. I don't know: On one hand you say, "Our bread and butter is our OL and Chubb, so go with that when all the chips are on the table." On the other, you say, "Don't run such an obvious play when it matters most." If they would have tried a play action pass that fell incomplete, we'd be bitching they didn't go with their bread and butter when it mattered most. <shrugs shoulders>
  8. Baker has to SEE the open man, can't just be a one-read Charlie. That does not work in the NFL.
  9. Yes, it's possible Browns lose this and then win out to make payoffs, or they could win and then lose too many following and still miss the postseason. But in all likelihood, this game vs. the Ravens is the make or break game of the season so far. And with the extra week off to heal up the players, including Baker, this could be the perfect time to beat the Ravens. They were right in the last game vs. this team. That being said, the Steelers did the Browns no favor when beating Baltimore last week. Lamar and company are going to be focused and motivated coming off that loss. So let's see it Baker: show the world what you're really all about.
  10. I mostly agree with the video, especially about the part where Baker should be paid around $30 mill per year, a sum that would pay him more than any other team would, yet not wreck the Brown's ability to keep/add more talent. Baker's wife said that he changed the entire culture of the team; if he even partly did, he deserves a new deal. The one difference between he and Brees is, Drew was never as cocky as Baker; I'll leave that to others on whether that is a good thing or not.
  11. Ah, but rest could help heal his bum knee, groin, heel and whatever else is hurting. He is obviously more beat up than just the shoulder.
  12. First of all, I never said "reaching the playoffs," I said "beating a playoff team" if they did make it. I still maintain it's unlikely they would beat a team in the playoffs, if they should make it. They certainly wouldn't beat two playoff teams.
  13. No, but they failed there and only scored 10 points so never mind that point.
  14. So which playoff team do you think this team with this QB can beat? They have a total of one win vs. a winning team so far. ONE.
  15. Thank God the spelling Nazi is here, just in time. When you can't refute a point you don't like, bring out the spelling Nazi, oh yea.
  16. One striking omission is the state of the game that Baker is playing compared to Roger's over the same span of years (1st 4): Good QBs put up much better #'s than Baker here and now, including Rogers. Baker is hovering around 22nd - 26th in all major passing stats in the here and now. That is who he is. Comparing his stats to Roger's 1st four years is poppycock. Baker is ringing in at about 25th in today's conditions You want him paid like a top 5 QB?
  17. Thanks for responding but not answering the question posed.
  18. They've beat a total of one team with a winning record. And they barely squeaked by a Lions team with their back up QB (and he was as bad as any QB I've seen play in the NFL, perhaps ever). KC - lost Texans - losing team, horrid. Bears - losing MIN - losing LAC - loss AZ - loss, blow out Denver - losing Pitt - LOSS Cinci - only win vs. a winning team, and they have folded since, losing almost every game Pats - ass whooping Lions - winless with back up QB Just who, on earth, do you expect them to beat if they make the playoffs? And right now, their last 6 games are vs. teams with winning records, by the way.
  19. He was obviously double teamed, and both were tight on OBJ; why throw it?
  20. Reading the tea leaves.....didn't his wife come out and say he is under-appreciated for turning the entire team's culture around??????????? Wives know what their hubby's are feeling. If he feels responsible for turning around this team from an 0-16 team to what they are (a .500 team to possibly a play off team) then he will feel he's as valuable as any QB in the NFL, and IF he is the main person responsible for that transformation then???? Is he?
  21. The front office can't fear that, or they mortgage the team's future. They need to stick to their guns and offer something fair, but not cross the line.
  22. Fine, but that wasn't the assertion: the concept that Baker doesn't deserve top QB $ was. If he thinks his play is deserving of Mahomes, Dak or Rogers' $, he's been hit in the head too much. He'd be lucky to make Tannehill $.
  23. Brady regularly won SUPER BOWLS (NOT JUST PLAY OFF GAMES) with ho hum WRs. He won rings with a aged Troy Brown, Burt Emanuel, Curtis Jackson, David Patten, Deion Branch, David Givens, Edelman, Hogan, Amendola, and had Moss for one great year (but didn't win the SB). Those guys mostly went on to do nothing on other teams. Big Ben mostly turned lemons into lemonade in his prime. He made Ward (a small, slow WR) into a Hall of Famer, won a ring with Randel El and Quincy Morgan (outcast of the Browns), Santanio Holmes (did nothing on other teams). Made Mike Wallace a star, who didn't do much without him. Baker will have no success stories like Brady and Ben, because he isn't special like them. If you are going to be paid like a top 5 QB, you better play like one, period.
